Behind the video :
American sandwiches are pretty hard to come by in Ireland.... But we hear how good they are all the time. We asked our friends at the Pig and Heifer restaurant in Dublin to rustle us up some authentic American sandwiches. Our guys very kindly taste tested them.

I like the guy in the blue jacket he has a positive attitude for the most part.
i know and that song
...made the video lol
+Latte Punch HE seems to be the Irish Topher Grace
+Latte Punch He's so cute, I have such a crush on him ^.^
+Latte Punch Yeah he seemed cool but the adidas guy just seems like the "swag loser" version of an American Swag loser.
yup
I'm not even American , and I know they left some of the best ones out lmao
+Anglo-Sphere MP yeah no pork tenderloin sandwich WTF?
MrAwsomenoob BBQ Pulled pork with coleslaw has got to be one of the best :)
Anglo-Sphere MP if done right yeah but if i had to chose one over the other it would have to be tenderlion 10/10 my favorite
I have never tried the PT sandwich , But I will now . Do you have it breaded ?
MrAwsomenoob Ok , thanks for the tips friend , I will be sure to try it soon and get back to you .
Guy in the blue jacket, love him! He seems likes he’s such a fun happy person.
I second that!
And he gets it. Especially pb&j
I feel like they missed crucial ingredients on every sandwich.
Buku Duckets especially on the so called philly cheese steak they made
@@sergiobessa3962 for damn sure, that's the main reason I posted that lol.
So hard to watch!
Right?! Wheres the peppers on the philly cheesesteak? That is just wrooonngg
They missed the peppers and mayo
I would run away with the man in the blue jacket. He is cute and hilarious. We could eat pb&j and watch the sunset.
+hmfoden i can't stop laughing at this lmaooo
He's so funny!!! He needs to be featured more, and agree with his being cute too :)
I know!! 🌌🌌
+Roller sail oh my god I was going to say Exactly that, he really looks like a Chav
We was okay, but I liked the one in the green shirt better.
I only clicked to hear their beautiful Irish accents...
+Katrina Leonard same
Haha ty!!
+Katrina Leonard JOHNLOCK
why does everyone love irish accents lmao, im irish but i don't think our accents are that good or beautiful lmao
Ellen Headley well, they're better than those boring american accents
That was cute, but I'd like to see their reactions if they tried a real Po Boy in New Orleans or a real Cheese Steak in Philly
they would have had to change their underwear.
That was *not* a Philly cheesesteak!
@Flick
The Reuben sandwich originated from Omaha, Nebraska, by a guy named Reuben Kulakofsky. He was Lithuanian, but the man made the sandwich here on American soil. But it does use some Ingredients that would make you think that it's German. Especially the sauerkraut it has on it which is fucking delicious 😋 and very healthy for you, I might add. Sorry for the little history lecture, I just really enjoy the sandwich 😂.
Their taste buds couldn't handle it.
Philly's cheese steaks SUCK! Go to NJ for a real one.
The Irish: PB&J...gross
Also the Irish: Blood sausage OMFG yes
Lol
Lmaooo
True. About the sausage. It's amazing. And PB&J i gross
???
Who calls it a blood sausages it's a pudding
Why does the food you serve always look like you threw it down the stairs first?
Chef: "I made the sandwich. Let me cut it up, first, though." **pulls out machete**
I couldn't agree more. I was laughing so hard when I read your comment! hahaha
You win the interwebs with that comment. Hahahaha!
Because we did
How else would we make food
Oh.. This isn't Buzzfeed
Oh shit I thought this was buzzfeed
I was like wow they're not being dicks about the foods like the other videos and i didnt realize it wasn't buzzfeed until i looked at your comment lmao
+HeythereimKayla wow lol yea i just noticed that reading your comment
that's why it's so bad lol
lol
A Sloppy Joe is made with more than just minced beef, it’s got tomato paste & spices mixed in with it.
That definitely looked like it had tomato in it, would certainly hope there were spices too...
Also, It didn’t look sloppy enough.
My mom also put beans in the sloppy joe
How dare they disrespect PB&J like that
@xebache777
That sounds absolutely appalling, I'd rather eat something Plankton from Spongebob made lol.
xebache777
I’d rather eat Chef Pee Pee’s cooking
I thought Looney Toon would like pbj. Its a Kids treat.
BK - And they eat Nutella? Begosh and begorrah!!
That PB&J did look pretty pathetic didn't it? The ones I make are usually 1" thick and on whole wheat bread. Not that wonder bread shit. I don't think those Irish folks are getting a true taste of America from these videos. They should come here to America and get a real feel for our food, it really is quite delicious.
2:25 Pastrami isn't raw. It's smoked. Also, no, it's not called jam. Jam and jelly are two completely different things.
+Bob Papadopoulos Jam and jelly are different things everywhere, just not the same different things depending on where the words are used.
maninredhelm I'm well aware. Personally, I use jam and preserves, but considering it's a taste test of American sandwiches, one would logically assume that the American vernacular is going to be used, especially when it's part of the name of the sandwich.
+Bob Papadopoulos I was hoping I wasn't the only one that caught her saying pastrami is raw!
+Bob Papadopoulos Thats not logical at all.
What the fuck is wrong with everyone and assuming everything has to have the same name the world over, it's fucking ridiculous.
EpicRAWRRR You're not keen on reading, are you? You basically just told me my point wasn't logical... and then agreed with it.
I pretty emphatically said that the Americans were just fine using the term that is correct in their vernacular, so disagreeing with me is basically saying that everything DOES have to have the same name. Your comment, then, is fallacious.
Should have given them a Ruben, BLT, grilled cheese, chili cheese dog, and a BBQ pork sandwich.
Bbq pulled pork sandwich hell yeah!
hot dogs arent sandwiches
Or a club, on sourdough with bacon, ham, turkey, tomato, pickles...crap. Now I'm hungry.
It bothers me to an irrational degree that they ALMOST gave them a Ruben but just... didn't. I mean they're a lot closer to Germany than the States are, surely you can source some sauerkraut!
@@hp8685 the only thing the same between the 2 sandwiches is they are both served on rye, that's it.
WTH is "bap"? I'm thinking an American did not make those sandwiches...
I just looked up what Bap is, apparently it's a Scottish version of Brioche. Those fucking Haggis eating Scott bastards are in cahoots with the Irish, It's a TRAP!!!
😂😂😂, lol JK
Also be careful using that word as in some parts of the British isles baps can mean boobs. Lol
@@WampaStompa1996 LOL... I'm guessing some Scottish person created this video then. We don't use that word in the U.S.! 😂
Bap is “rice” in Korean lol
@@WampaStompa1996 no it isn't it's just a word for roll lol
I have been watching these videos and having been in the restaurant business in the states since 1980 I can tell you that whoever is preparing this food needs to be drawn and quartered.
I'm American and I've never had a po boy before
+coreyrock66 It's from Louisiana
Neither has MA lol
+Abigail Sullivan its a huge southern kind of sandwich
I live in Louisiana now. and they are all over. I think it is a deep south thing
+coreyrock66 Go to Popeye's, you'll find one.
You gotta love them Irish. Their accent make them so lovable. 10 points to the Irish!
yay thanks
+Suzie Walsh tanks!
Yayyay
Tru, I wanna fuck a Irish girl
+Lucarelli oh ok

"I'm sorry if this is tied into your national identity, but this was awful"
Dude, you don't get to make a declaration of war like that and then say your sorry.
Creamy peanut butter, and home made strawberry jam.... so good!
Also a proper sloppy joe requires cheese and pickles, and way more sauce. They weren't messy enough.
Someone tell these guys that Jam and Jelly aren't the same thing. Jam is from fruit, jelly is from fruit juice.
Is this not common knowledge?
+Kaydiasez You are right, for the American terminology, but in the UK and Ireland "jelly" means Jello or gelatin, and "jam" means what Americans call jelly or what Americans call jam
huh. Weird, as jello is the same recipe as American jelly but with less gelatin or pectin to make is more/less solid. And yes, this fascinates me because I make it, I'm a food nerd. *hangs head in shame*
+Kaydiasez and sometimes jelly means Jello-O!
+88michaelandersen I don't know about you but making either jelly or jam is totally different. In the U.S. anyway as jelly is usually more of a jell consistency while jam is made with whole fruits without any jell so in the U.S. jam is more of a pulp spread.
IloveJell0 I have never made jelly (US), but I do make strawberry jam. I was just explaining that in the UK, jelly means gelatin, and the UK does not distinguish between what Americans call jelly and what they call jam.
Basically, if you ask for jelly on your toast in the UK, you will get a piece of toast with a piece of Jell-0 on it. And some weird looks.
Grilled cheese with tomato soup, BLT should have been on here
And a Ruben!
Mmmmm, two of my faves!!
Reuben wouldve been good too.
True instead of shrimp po boy
Irish people eat BLT
As an american that food they served those poor irish people was absolute trash either not american made or just made trash on purpose, even just a terrible chef
No kidding, it's like they got it from a one star gas station. Make it fresh and replace a few things with BLT, grilled cheese, or something of the sort then they could actually have a good experience. Also when are they going to do salads? Americans do know what fruits and vegetables are (shocking I know.)
PB&Jelly is my fav sandwich! One guy got it right - it’s sweet and savory. Yum!
That Philly was the saddest thing I've ever seen.
I think someone sat on them on the way back from the sub shop
Michael Woolery that's all I know of as a philly. The only full one I've had was tough meat.😢
Should be strips of thinly sliced rib eye (or other quality cut of steak) smothered in saute'd mushrooms onions and bell peppers with provolone cheese sauce (slices in a pinch)
+Benjamin Hales. Not true...a TRUE Philly Cheese steak is thin ribeye, onions, peppers and cheez whiz.
I'll stick to my non True philly with quality cheese then tyvm :)
That looks like too much jelly, the ratio is very important.
BrianStyleDeath lol
what are you some fucking sandwich expert?
Jam*
lamboman68 it was right the first time.
This was first invented by an American Mom back in the 1930's!
"it's savory mixed with sweet" exactly!! that guy gets it, not sure why it's so reviled by the others
How in the hell can you dislike a PB&J!?!? It's a national treasure and you if don't like it than we can't be friends.
PB J is so disgusting and 99% of Irish ppl hate it. Americans are just too used to sugary sweet flavours
Ah yes the new generation in a nutshell
FR LIKE I LOVE PB&j IM NOT AMARICAN BUT IM IN ILOVE WITH THOSE PB&JS
Sorry, not really keen on jam or jelly. And I'm an American who's going to be 50 years old way too soon.
I feel like it's really a little kid's sandwich... I loved it as a child but wouldn't usually choose one today!
Jam and jelly are different...
They really are. It frustrates me when people try to use one in place of the other.
+Foamy the Elephants Child To the Irish jelly is what Americans call Jello
+benzman500sl Yes. I wouldn't watch Sesame St. Street when I was little because characters spoke about themselves in the 3rd person
+The Kiwi Yes, and chips are crisps and cookies are biscuits, jelly is jam, jam is preserves, scones are gross, etc
Foamy the Elephants Child How dare you. Scones are the shit.
You left out a BLT.
+Shawn Ravenfire probably because the BLT is universal so not really an American sandwich.
It's as popular here in the the UK and Ireland as it is in America, they'd already be be familiar with it.
I'm not completely sure but I'm pretty sure a BLT is a British Sandwich..
+Bex Brown no it's an American sandwich, hint the American bacon
The Shallow Youth ....it never occurred to you as you were typing your comment that they use other types of bacon in different countries? In a BLT this side of the pond you will usually find streaky bacon, though i will say that streaky bacon and american bacon are very similar albeit with a lot less chemicals and processing involved over here.
Y'all gave them the MOST bland sandwiches.
Pastrami and rye. Classic sandwich
Yeah they did
blazin.kalinnn they do that all the time. Go to fast food joints for example and get burgers with no condiments. What American eats a burger with no condiments???? Lol
Yes the original american white sandwiches. Original colonial stock american food is bland as fuck.
Don't worry about not liking the sandwiches, Irish people!
Americans watching this mostly wouldn't like the jokes-masquerading-as-sandwiches that you were given either!
"Philly cheese shit"
The hell were these?!?
Why does that woman have socks on her arms?
those are arm warmers
+stuckIN801 That fly bothers me
I actually thought there was a fly on my screen for a second!!!! lol
Because Ireland is cold.
+stuckIN801 Becouse we haven't been dressing ourselves for very long and sometimes make the odd mistake - it's a little unkind of you to draw attention to it
I keep on thinking this is Buzzfeed.
i thought this was buzzfeed 😂😂
Isn't it? WHAT!
OMG I thought it was😂😂
I thought it was til I read this comment 😂
+Emme Boshard I had to go back and look LOL
The funniest thing about this is the Irish criticizing anybody's food.
What does that mean?? Everyone has a opinion in every country in the world
And guess what i agrée with them
@@Irish780 hahahahahaha What he is saying (not me) is that Irish food sucks.

American sandwiches? How 'bout a grilled cheese, a club, and a tuna fish?
I like your choices. I had to think about good ones you didn't pick. Mine are BLT with mayo, BBQ rib, buffalo chicken wrap, and the secret weapon... Leftover Thanksgiving Turkey scrap sandwiches!
WHAT ABOUT A HOTDOG ARE YOU KIDDING ME.
THANK YOU
How the fuck is grilled cheese American? The sandwich itself is literally older then the America. The fuck you on about?
Marko Todorovic
I think what he was trying to say is that grilled cheese sandwiches are popular in America. That is why he said that grilled cheese is an American sandwich.
everyone forgets to add the wild card into the PB&J. Slap that sandwich with some banana then you have an event! You won't even need dessert afterwards ;3
+sneekyD I put wheat thins on them. Such a satisfying crunch.
+Bryan Eberly I have gotta try that, just plain wheat thins?
Jacob Thomson Yep. I suppose their multigrain would work too, but you don't want anything that takes away from the PB&J
+sneekyD Or marshmallow fluff with the jelly. Fluffernutter jellier?
+sneekyD bananas and a little honey drizzled into the mix is amazing!
Just saying the sloppy joe should literally be sloppy. They made it too dry
Brandon de Zeeuw Totally. And I always add sour cream to them. If you haven't tried it, do. Match made in heaven.
Also. Lets be real. The only acceptable spot joe is Manwich.
Adam Barnett that's sounds disgusting but I'm not a fan of sour cream. I think it pretty much ruins everything it touches.
David Alvarado My Mom always made ours with cheese. That shit looked dry as hell
You're right. They just had a joe.
I like my PBJ's with lightly toasted bread still warm to make the creamy peanut butter melt with either apple jelly, strawberry jam, or just plain honey. A must, some whole milk or chocolate works for me.
Jelly and jam are too different things. The constitencies are miles apart.
Lami Onifade: Jam is better because it spreads smoothly. Jelly stays together in clumps.
@@JStarStar00 I'll agree to disagree. I don't vibe with jam after being accustomed to jelly my whole life.
@Flick we have all those things lol,, we just don't call them "jelly" because we use that to talk about something else
I love PB&J sandwiches
btw in America we have Jam and Jelly. Jelly has no chunks of fruit and Jam does.
What the rest of the world calls jelly, americans call it jello.
Actually, Jello is a brand. We call it "gelatin dessert" or some other nonsense. (Yeah, I know, we still all it Jello.)
The two at the end xD
lol right
Meh.
Yes. They can come visit the States any time. xD And we shall feed them peanut butter and jelly to their hearts' content.
The pop culture Irishmen
Oh my stars! John singing that peanut butter and jelly song crack me up to no end!
Jam and jelly are not two different words for the same thing. It irritates me that so few people seem to know this. Jam is a preserve made from the fruit itself with pieces of the fruit left in it. Jelly has no fruit pieces in it and is quite often made from fruit juice concentrate.
Jelly is made from fruit juice no fruit flesh at all, jam is made with chopped or pureed fruit, preserves are whole fruit cooked down with sugar
Selina Burke thank you! I was going to say that myself. Jam is jam and jelly is jelly. There IS a difference.
Selina Burke Thank you!
In the UK and Ireland there is still what you guys call Jelly, but it's just known as Jam without bits in it.
Sellna Burke interesting because I have always used fruit flesh in my Jelly.
92ladderley the difference is the pectin put in them.
Jelly and Jam are two different things, Jam has the actual cooked down fruit and Jelly just uses the fruit's juice.
they are actually the same thing, you can have Jam with no bits in it, you just strain it before preserving.
Sam Ward no they're not the same. Jelly is only made from the strained juice, if a jam is only made with juice... then it's jelly.
Clear - jelly ; opaque - jam. Two different things, mate.
Marilyn Alvarez their the same thing
Arguing with people from different countries on the name of something is fruitless.
🎶"peanut butter jelly time!" 😂
They were my favorite pair.
I'm from NY and I love love love Irish people and culture
Jam and jelly are two different things.
yes finally someone says that
What are preserves?
Preserves are the same as jam, but with chopped fruits instead of mashed.
Wait really?? What is jelly?
TabooTalz
Jellied fruit juice, while jam is preserved mashed fruit.
Didn't realize this was not a BuzzFeed video until I heard "Yoda's penis" fucking gold.

Nice selection of sandwiches. There is jelly, jam, and my favorite preserves
As someone who grew up in Pennsylvania, there are supposed to be Bell peppers in the philly cheese steaks
Millions of US kids have to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for school lunch.
George Lee you get it
I did get it.
George Lee I hate peanut butter
Or really nasty school lunches.
Though I am American, and love peanut butter and jelly, in the country where I grew up, my most prominent school related food memory is of eating blood pudding, which I also love. Who doesn't love thickened pigs blood, sliced up and pan fried, with lingonberry jam on it?
Didn't anyone tell her that the pastrami isn't raw?? Jees!!!
Ikr! I mean what an airhead.
@@WampaStompa1996 They don't have pastrami in Ireland. Are you an expert on food from other countries? Remember, Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food.

+Keaggan best with the spicy nachos one
As someone who lives in Philly, glad to know steaks are loved across the Atlantic as well.
In America Jelly is made with the Juice of the fruit, Jam is made with the mashed up fruits and Preserves are made with the sliced up parts of the fruit.
i'm allergic to peanuts but the fact that those guys cant recognize the majestic simplicity that is a pb and j really rustles my jimmies
the dude in the Looney Tunes shirt just seemed determined not to like anything.

Love the guy in blue jacket. Cute, fun and he dances!
Do they not have pickles in Ireland
They should, we have them in England but they're called Gherkins.
always jerkin yoda's gherkin
I thought gherkins were pickles, just pickled sooner and smaller. You don't have normal pickles?
They are similar, but don't taste or look the same. Pickles are a lot larger than Gherkins. So if they're eating Gherkins they aren't eating a real pickle. Unless they call their pickles Gherkins, but are made from larger cucumbers like pickles.
They have pickles but they are actually pickled potatoes.
Gotta have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a tall glass of milk.

LOL
Klé Dulgarian A lot of ppl that I know like the pastrami off the skillet. So its nice and warm.
SkeyeU
Stop it. You're making me hungry.
Jam and Jelly are both made from fruit and canned, however, Jelly is a clear fruit spread while Jam is usually a product made with whole fruit (including seeds) which is usually crushed. Jam has pulp while jelly has juice. I loved putting my dad's raspberry/blackberry jam on vanilla ice cream, he used very little sugar so it still tasted of fruit and they went together really well.
Is it just me- or do they love our songs, movies and food? 🇺🇸 ❤️❤️
they should've tried fluffernuter and new York Reuben or a crossaint-wich!
+Noelle Meier Reubens and croissant sandwiches aren't really American though.
Billybiscuits13 oh! I didn't know Reubens weren't American. I knew croissants weren't, but I thought there were just sold as pastries, not made into breakfast sandwiches.
Fluffernutter's were my entire childhood.
Noelle Meier Actually, I'm totally wrong on the Reuben. America's even better than I thought :)
+Billybiscuits13 I would assume the Irish would like a Reuben since it has corned beef. No cabbage though :/
As someone from Philly, that cheesesteak looks like hell.

True. It's different here there's: Jam, Jelly, Preserves, Fruit spread, Marmalade, lemon curd (There's probably a few more I haven't mentioned). The textures of these are different. If I ask for "jam" at a restaurant who knows what flavor they'll bring me it could be strawberry, apricot or whatever kind they have. It's not all "jam".
Yes!

Those sloppy Joe's were definitely not sloppy enough to be called sloppy Joe's, they were just plain old regular Joe's lol
They should've added the Cleveland style Poboy. Deep fried kielbasa on a bun topped with fries, slaw and either hot sauce or barbecue sauce. I would add carmelized onions and cheese to mine but those are the quintessential ingredients
They must have had a pretty shitty Po Boy.
i was thinking the same thing
>;~D The problem with that Po' Boy is that it wasn't fully dressed! ⚜
( Papa always said, "The sign of a GOOD po' boy is when the dressing drips onto your clothing." 👍 )
So you have to cover up the taste of the shrimp to make it worth eating?
They also did not care for the PB & J. It must have been too spicy for their delicate Irish taste buds.
i know right! Im an addict to those! PB&J surprised me too, thought they'd love it.
That steak sandwich was more French Dip-like. You need to add grilled peppers and onions and whiz!
A prawn sandwich!? I've lived in 15 states, and I've never heard of such a thing.
Go to the gulf coast, you will.
it must be a regional or coastal thing, i've never of one, either. of all sandwiches all america has at least heard of, why go with something like that? i swear they must do that on purpose to get people to comment.
Prime example of the channel not reading the comments
Shrimp po boy? never tried it, never heard of it. must be a regional sandwich.
Thanks, you'd think I'd heard of it. I have extended family in the area.
See them in Canada at restaurants sometimes. My husband made them for supper once, too. It's pretty good :D
It originated in Louisiana as a sandwich for poor working men ("po' boy" = poor boy) but like all sandwiches, it grew in popularity in the US. They sell them at the restaurant Popeyes (found everywhere in the South and on US Army Posts throughout the world). Popeyes even has better chicken than KFC, imo.
Yea I never heard of it either maybe because I'm on the west coast
Ashley Fernandez Are you on the west coast as in California in general, or as in near the beach? I would assume that anyone who grew up on any coast near the beach would know what a poboy was! But maybe I'm wrong. I've only lived on the east coast so I don't know
