  • Make your ergonomic chair or gaming chair better for your neck in minutes. Many office chairs nowadays come with a headrest, and with a small adaption they could help improve your posture while sitting, and give you neck pain relief. Some chairs have a headrest that is flexible enough to give you neck support while in the upright position, but in most chairs the chair headrest position is not flexible enough to support your neck without this adaptation. Poor sitting posture is a major cause of neck pain, and tight shoulders, and pinch nerve pain down the arms. This chair hack will help you improve your neck posture by giving you a position to settle your neck into that is comfortable and healthy. It strengthens the Deep Neck Flexors. Helps prevent tight spinal joints in the neck. And takes pressure off the Levator Scapulae muscle which is an extremely common cause of neck pain from computer work. I show you how using a Sihoo Doro C300 ergonomic office chair as an example.

    All the chairs I want to buy for ergonomic reasons are over $300?! Like, seriously you have to be rich to be able to live a healthy life. All the other chairs below 300 are trash.

      I am not rich but I bought an ergonomic chair for 430€ and a table for 350€ approx. Not at once both but one by one. Good investment if your work is mostly in front of pc

      I am using IKEA Marcus chair since 2016. It is approx. 200 €. It has 10 years warranty. The best investment ever. Completely rest your head while working all day. Zero fatigue. All clever software companies are equipping their staff with Marcus'
      as I saw in years. Sometimes I am trying other fancy looking boss chairs with head rests, but their head rests are not designed well and simply not working not supporting any weight of your head. And it is a no. When you bought a chair, it is usually not easy for you to change it for a long time. So do your research well. Think it like a car driver seat, it has a simple design, no need to adjust the headrest moment to moment, just touch and rest your head while driving, it is taking the whole stress of driving if your seat is inclined as necessary as it should be. That's why rally car seats are rigid and has no back incline adjustments.

      @@DemirAydemir interesting! Just checked it - here the price of this chair is 169€. Will check in the shop how comfortable it is.

    I suspect a significant number of "carpal tunnel syndrome" cases are actually "poor neck and shoulder posture". In the US, orthopedic surgeons hear "tingling in hands" and immediately jump to CTS. The reality is that Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and related disorders are much more common than they would like to admit and cause virtually identical symptoms as CTS. There are some minute differences you can look for if you suspect you have one of these disorders, but ultimately if your hand is tingling/numb, it's likely a pinched nerve *somewhere* between your cervical spine (neck) and the hand itself. It can be in the neck, shoulders, elbows, forearms, or the wrist.

      Yes, exactly. Joint dysfunction at the base of the neck causes much more finger symptoms IM O.

    Thanks a bunch! I might actually remember leaving my head upright now (normally I sit up straight and then five minutes later, catch myself with a forward head again...) xD

    On another channel a posture therapist suggests that we should sit only with the lower back supported by the chair for good posture. However I can't bring myself to do this for long periods because I like resting my back. I have a herman miller chair so very ergonomic. Would you agree with him that your shoulders shouldn't touch the chair back or do you have a different opinion?

    • @BodyFixExercises
      @BodyFixExercises  2 месяца назад

      Interesting question. Actually I like the idea of your shoulders touching your chair because it gives you a point of reference of where your shoulders are sitting. If your shoulders aren't touching the chair you've probably got forward/rounded shoulders. But if they're touching the chair, you know that they're back. (This is assuming the chair doesn't feel like it's pushing your shoulders forward.)

    My headrest seems to go forward enough (I will check this with a mirror tomorrow). I never realized that the headrest can be used for a point of reference. My head wants to go forward.

      Great if your headrest can move forward enough. Get someone to take a photo from the side to check your position

      Cem, ben de öyle dedim. Muhteşem bir sandalye değil mi? İkinci kademede çok hafif yatık, kendini bırak, kafanı yasla, saatlerce otur çalış. Arada üçüncü kademeye getir, neredeyse yatarak daha da dinlenerek çalış. Yada birinci kademede dimdik ama süper rahat otur.
