Another fantastic video, Sam. Yes, you clearly have thought about and researched the video and it shows. Congratulations and thank you. PS where were team potato in this video?
Yup, anything you mentioned. Especially scissors and trim and subscription box. I also like books w lots of pictures about fashion and fashion designers, fun garment labels like Kylie and the machine. I also embroider my clothes sometimes so transfer paper or stencils or a book of line drawings that can be used as the base for decorative embroidery on pockets etc makes me happy. A subscription to tauku or peppermint might be good too. I already get threads magazine which I would highly recommend.
Hi again Sam, re books: The Readers Digest book is good and I have Gina Renee Dunham's fitting book which I like. However, can I also suggest that if you ever get the chance to pick up a (2nd hand?) copy of "Dressmaking, the complete step-by-step guide" by Alison Smith that you jump at the opportunity. I have been sewing for a lot of years and am a trained pattern maker and as such I have read and own dozens of books. I was floored by the quality and breadth of this book, so much so (or sew) that I bought it as a gift for my daughter. To say it's comprehensive is an understatement and each point is accompanied by a large, clear colour photo indicating the point being made. It covers everything - I won't bore you with a list but suffice to say that I have not seen this much coverage including such good photos in any other book (including the Readers Digest.) I think the icing on the cake is that the book actually includes half scale patterns which you can either enlarge by hand, photocopy at 200% or download as a PDF. The patterns go to size 24 (117cm/46", 97cm/38", 122cm/48") and the book includes a photo guide of each step to assemble each garment, including instructions on enlarging the patterns should your size not be included in their range. Included are 3 skirts, 3 dresses with 9 variations, 2 trousers, 2 tops with 3 variatios and 2 jackets; that's 19 patterns in total! Finally there is a section on mending and repair and another on customisting and embellishment. Phew, I think you can see why I say it's a book like no other, it is amazing. Anyway, if you get a chance to get your hands on a copy, Sam, jump at the chance. Kim (again) 😊
Fabric would be a great gift and I really like pattern weights, some of them are so pretty!
Best wishes🎉😘

Love all of your suggestions! I would love to receive those beautiful pattern weights that are shaped like thread spools wrapped in liberty fabric. ❤
