    I rarely keep tiny scraps, so I never saw a crumb quilt that would work for me. I DO keep lots of varying width strips, and so this block will be just perfect! Can't wait to see your finished project.

    Crumb blocks are just THE MOST fun to make! No plan, no pattern, NO PROBLEM! If I have no crumbs (yeah, right!) I find some large scraps, put them on the cutting mat and 'slash' them with the rotary cutter...Instant crumbs. 🤭😁.

    Turned out great. 😅 scraps or crumbs sewing like this is so much fun. I can just sit and sew no points to match. The seams can be little wide and it is ok. It is fun to just see the end block. Each is unique. Thanks

    If the blocks were a little smaller this would make a great wall hanging for a preschool or kindergarten class to teach the variations in color (pastel pink, light pink, medium, dark, etc. Also patterns: polka dots, stripes, plaids, print verses solid, etc. if you did a facing binding you would already have the back ready for a dowel to be a wall hanging. This would be a good service project.

    I think this is going to come out spectacular. I love each block being the same color family, makes a nice bold cheerful block. I'd think of this a more of a string quilt (using scrap strips) rather than a crumb quilt. The bits you cut off of each strip I think of those small irregularly shaped pieces as crumbs, personally I would much rather not work with crumbs, I think strips are much more versatile and easier to work with compared to crumbs. It might be fun to try different shapes in the middle of each block, hexagons might be fun.

  • @roseswalls3468
    @roseswalls3468 8 месяцев назад

    I so love your fabrics....I have made many crumb/string blocks. I do not use foundation for piecing them ninety five percent of the time. I just have a square ruler laying near by to help me achieve the size I want.
    I would call yours string blocks...but they are yours and you can call them what you want...it is all using scraps that we won't use in planned quilt blocks. (Mine I call crumbs and string blocks to myself, but just crumb blocks when writing about them..because I do use little pieces and strips) And I even made one quilt I called my chunk quilt.
    A lot of my crumbs and strings, are scraps I bought and would be hard to catergorize as any one color, but I sure love crumb blocks made with one color. I cannot wait to see this finished.
