    Thank you to @lisamerick6614 who picked up an error in the video. It related to the cutting measurement of the grey strips. We were able to edit out the incorrect measurement but you will need to go to our website for the correct measurements (link in the description field). We do apologise for the error, we're not sure how this one snuck through.

    Very nice quilt, and easy instructions. At first when I saw the first block by it self, I questioned how the quilt would turn out, but once it was all finished, it turned out great. 🙂

    Considered seam push is NEVER fussing around. Seam push matters. It makes a difference in the finished block. My hack when I get it wrong, I will do a seam clip to not through as we do in garment making so I can flip a seam. This pattern is lovely, and your method creates a lovely showcasing/framing of the larger blocks while giving the eye a place to rest. I think that your gray is perfect as in my view it is always the perfect neutral. Thanks for demonstrating. Now if there is a predominant bright solid in the fabric collection, that could also make a nice alternative to the gray.

      Thank you so much for the 'THANKS' Susan. It's so very much appreciated. We really want to make PDFs for our tutorials and were actually hoping to create one for this particular quilt but we ended up running out of time. The videos take a lot of time for us to create and the PDFs take quite a lot of work as well but we are definitely working towards making PDFs for future videos.

    A stunning quilt. I think the gray fabric was just right. Black would have been too harsh. I have a ton of layer cakes and will attempt this quilt. I thought it was very wise of you to separate your layer cake the way you did. I never would have thought of that. Many, many thanks.

    I believe you misspoke. I don’t think the gray fabric is 5 inches. After sewing the 3 strips together the strip set would be 11 inches unless you are using more than a quarter inch seam allowance.

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  2 месяца назад +2

      Oh my goodness, you are correct. The gray strip should be cut at 4" not 5". I don't know how many times we checked the video and it slipped by. We are working to fix it.

    There is an easier way to make this beautiful pattern. Cut the strip sets into 10 inch units. With the 5 inch squares make 4-patches. You see when she lays out all the pieces before she puts them together that it is basically first row is 10 inch focus print, 10 inch strip set, 10 inch focus print, 10 inch strip set etc. the second row is 10 inch strip set, 4-patch, 10 inch strip set, 4-patch, etc. You will only need 5 inch cuts of strip sets and a two patch for the outer border.

    • @rsplatt100
      @rsplatt100 Месяц назад

      But when you sew four 5 inch squares together, they are no longer a 10 in. Square It’s 9 1/2” square. Because her strip sets were cut into 5” and then sewn together they are now 9 1/2” square. To solve the problem cut your ten inch focus fabric to 9 1/2” squares. Cut your strip sets 9 1/2 “. This way everything matches the size of the 4 patch

    • @karenstephens1418
      @karenstephens1418 Месяц назад

      I think you are right. I just found Sewing all those bitty pieces together a bit tedious. I’d rather cut the 10 in. Square to fit the rest.

    I think the black and white is a bit harsh. Also I think you created more work for yourself by making 5 inch cuts of this. I would just make a ten inch cut. The pattern is definitely fun but seems like it’s a bit overcomplicated.

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  2 месяца назад +7

      What happened was we were so intent on making the bigger block, that cutting the strips at 10" just eluded us. Thank you for the tip.
