Hadn’t deadlifted in 5 months due to back pain. Tried sumo’s today for the first time ever after watching this video. Got up to 315x1. No pain. Implement these tips cuz they work!
damn dude that money crack metaphor just answered/explained 3 years worth of my questions and deficiencies in muscular intelligence surrounding leg training - completely blew my mind & just did 4 of, by far and away, the most efficient, properly loaded deadlifts I've ever done
Jordan's self-deprecation aside at the beginning, his sumo tutorial is clear, helpful, and showcases his talents as a trainer who is able to communicate important technique points to ordinary people in an effective way. I have always performed conventional deadlifting because sumo never felt right to me but I never had Jordan teach it to me until now, so I'm excited to give it another go. Thanks so much, Jordan!
I've pretty much only done sumo deadlifts. I'm the only person in the gym that does them. Not many people overall do full deadlifts and the ones that do go the traditional way. I do get some odd looks, but the form just feels so much more natural for my body type. My favorite exercise. I do about 40 reps over 5 sets and then I'm ready for bed.
He doesn't mention, but I find it easier, to set my back flat in a sumo deadlift, than to set a flat back with a regular deadlift, which takes me some time and warming up. The Sumo is a little bit more upright, an engaged back seems to come easier.
I feel the same way! I have pretty tight hamstrings and I always squatted the bar up with my conventional dead lift or rounded my back and did hurt myself... but with sumo it's much easier to get the back straight 💪
Think it may be a height long limbs thing? Once i went Sumo i never went back. Feels more natural gains are night and day and i leave feeling like a million bucks everytime and have long limbs.
This is exactly how I perform the deadlift. I started using the moderate stance after reading about how Ed Coan and Dr. Joel Seedman (he calls it the squat stance deadlift) used and recommended this positioning. My lower back is thanking me! Thanks for the awesome explanation.
I like all of your videos. The 7 minute video length works well for me. I don’t always have time for the longer videos. Nice description on spreading the floor. Thanks for the helpful Sumo Deadlift tips!
Thanks , I have been recovering in PT for chronic back pain due to a deadlifting conventional injury at 330 /150 kilos. I will try this , your tips are really good.
Really enjoyed the way you explained the movement. The split screen videos are amazing, so you can see both views and explanations at the same time. Thank you!
This has to be one of the best, if not the best, videos I’ve ever seen on performing sumo deadlifts. I raised my max 40+ pounds just from good form from this video. Much appreciated, keep up the good content!
You know someone is actually intelligent when they don't try and over use jargon and technical terms in order to try and appear intelligent. Great video. 10 times better than any Jordan Shallow video.
Excellent explanation. I've been starting with such a wide stance, it's been awkward and I don't feel centered. I will try more narrow stanced and work from there. Thank you!
OMG! I've watched so many sumo DL explanations.. And THIS BY FAR was the best and HELPED me correct a lot of mistakes/difficulties I been having!! THANK YOU.❤🙏
When I clicked the video, and saw it's almost 8 minutes long, I thought: "why the hell does this take 8 minutes, the guy should just show us how to do it a few times and that's it, 2 minutes and done". But it is to the point, with important things underlined, very informative and useful. Awesome.
Best explanation ever! Thank you
agree 100%
It really was
The best for real
On god. Wish I watched this before my first set ever this morning
I was about to type the same massage!

Best video on how to execute a sumo deadlift

It doesn't matter if you're short, weak. All it matters is your knowledge and technique and that you want to help people that don't know.
Thank you.
Lmao, was that a compliment or troll job, idk!
It's so easy to overlook the form in lifts like this. Your guidance on the pre-lift setup is really useful.

Best straight up no unnecessary details..jordans the best when it comes to explaining exercises.
Aligning the direction of the toes with the direction of the knees is just what I needed. Thank you!
When someone can explain a process simply and thoroughly with good examples, you know they are well versed in their field.

Jordan is the best coach ever!
“If they can’t see your nipples - no good.”
My life motto.
Ahaha
But my nipples look like milk duds 😥
