I can listen to Alabama over and over. True country music. No corporate B.S. When life gets rough I can listen to Alabama and gives all of us hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm from WV, joined the USAF in 1985 and was stationed at Pope AFB, NC in 86. The country music bug hit me and "Roll On"" was the first Bama hit and then many followed. We'd listen to their cassette tapes headed up 52 by Mt Airy, and I-77 "Hillbilly Highway" into WV. Now we set roots after I retired from the USAF and live near Huntsville, AL. Their music puts chills in my spine. Bama is now home.
Thank you for sharing this song with us, Beautiful. and inspiring music Memories ! Randy Owen , Born: December 13, 1939 Age 69 ! The lead singer of Alabama back in the 80's and 90's Rock & country band !
Funny thing, I turned my dad onto Alabama in the late 70's. Not long after my mother decided to move to Concord, NC. Finally in April of 2014 made it back down to Myrtle Beach where it all started at The Bowery. Have been to Ft. Payne for the Jam twice. You boys keep on rockin'.
When I was a teenager, my Daddy was in the USAF and we were stationed in Spain. Being from Alabama, I was SO homesick. I remember playing this song for a Spanish friend and translating the lyrics in my pitiful Spanish. Overcome with emotion, I told her I'd die for my country, that I'd kill for my country....that I'd kill her for my country. LOL!! She must have understood at least a little bit of what I said because her eyes got real big. Bless her heart.
