      He is also a manipulating liar who uses the lazy undertone active in most people against themselves.
      Point being he mislead his audience when he mentioned pantothenic acid with the statement he made saying, " I don't know what this is but it sounds healthy...", while reading the nutritional value of the ingredients of the juice from fruit he was promoting.
      He dont know what pantothenic acid is but he know all the other information that made it possible to make this misleading video so lets offer the side affects of the healthy sounding pantothenic acid to the audience who will not research this term and investigate its purpose and offerings.
      Pantothenic acid side affects are as follows:
      Muscle pain, joint pain, the new onset of diabetes mellitus, sore thoat, headache, weakness/lack of energy, dizziness, creatine phosphokinase (cpk) increased and other side affects that we do know is not healthy regardless of how it sounds to the video's author. @@ladwaloncrownover8986 Pantothenic acid is a vitamin. More specifically, it's Vitamin B5. You learn this in high school. Recall that it is also water-soluble which means the body can discard any excess through urine. Vitamin B5 is an essential nutrient and is present in almost any food which is why it's so hard to be deficient in vitamin B5. With that said, there hasn't been any definitive proof that vitamin B5 causes any harmful side effects even in very high doses save for some diarrhea. QSF obviously said it as a joke since it's common knowledge (or so he thought). The irony in your comment is palpable. Please don't read a single Facebook post and spread misinformation. Cheers.

      Closest truth to alkaline water is specific salts which have effects such as potassium citrate.
      This is given to reduce the incidence of uric acid stones in the kidneys.
      The citrate molecule increases the solubility of uric acid, so when it's eliminated with in the proximal tubule, prevents crystalization. Your body subsequently reabsorbs much of the molecules, recapturing what it wants to keep, but increased solubility of uric acid should reduce it's reabsorption.
      Citric acid is by itself is acidic, but potassium citrate, and other salts are slightly alkaline. It acts as a buffer to acids in the kidney, helping remove acids from the body, such as uric acid.
      Since high uric acid levels in the blood can act as a pro oxidant, water with potassium citrate would in fact be alkaline water, and have anti oxidant properties in those with hyperuricemia.
      But that's actual science and physiology, not this pseudoscientific garbage.

I used to work in pharmacy and all the time when people come in with sore throats, we would tell them what teas they could drink in addition to the medication to block the pain and to reduce the symptoms. People act like that. All doctors do is right. Prescriptions down for these abstract medications that are made up of 28 consonants and that's it. But like if drinking water and sitting down works, they're going to tell you to do that. It's so frustrating. It's like their doctors which is under science. We do what works. The fact that we figured out a while ago that waving a certain type of crystal around you doesn't work is the reason why we're telling you not to do it because we tried it and it didn't work.

      Depends on how fast and how much. If either of those are big enough, yes, if they are minor enough to be counteracted by the rare technique known as your cells breathing (this case), then no. Technically it does, as the absorbed minerals enter your blood stream and thus nudge it's homeostasis, but it's so slow and minor that 'you couldn't even measure it by most methods. You just exhale a tiny bit less and either use or pee out the excess.

    • @dream_weaver6207
      @dream_weaver6207 Год назад +9

      TL;DR: Yes, but it's unlikely to happen.
      Blood is a buffer solution, which means that it maintains a specific level of pH, even when you add acids or bases. The capicity of a buffer is, however limited, which means that yes, you could kill yourself by drinking several liters of alkaline water. You'd probably have to drink like 5l-10l per day for several days to actually do any harm. This is because the pH change that occurs when the capacity is reached is very suuden, so you'd be dead pretty quickly if that happens.
      However I assume that the body has methods of coping with this, so you might need a pH of more than just 8.8. This would also cause chemical burns, so it would be extremely difficult to kill yourself on accident like this.

    • @bagniacz3264
      @bagniacz3264 3 года назад +1

      @@kuyaleinad4195 Actually the thing with "alkalising" effects of lemons is based on some studies, I think carried out in 60s or something, but I don't remember who excatly did them. And, thay came up with an equation of sort that takes into account content of alkaline and acidic minerals, some amino acids and other nutrients (that are metabolised, yeilding CO2, that, of course, lowers the blood pH) but, however neat that sounds on paper, it doesn't really makes much sense in practise, as metabolism is more complicated than the creators of this equation assumed (I think they never even tried to make it super accurate, it was supposed to be more aproximate formula, but I may be wrong about that) and generally inbalances in blood pH caused by such food intake are instantly balanced by phosphate buffors and than adjusted by lungs, breathing out CO2, and kidneys with urine production, so generally effects of food on blood pH are mostly neglectible anyway.
      So, although "basic lemons" aren't really a thing, it's not like it is tottaly wrong either, it is just generally not studied too well (since it was like 60 years since the that idea was developed), probably not exactly true, and even if it was true, it would really be significant anyway, because of all those pH balance mechanisms.

    1:30 alkaline water is a joke but so are dietary antioxidants. I have no idea where the idea that dietary antioxidants (those that are not classified as vitamins that is) in the concentrations found in blueberries and salmon measurably reduce inflammation in the human body outside of the digestive tract. Oxidation is a way of life. Inject someone with enough selenium (a strong anti-oxidant) and they will die a painful death. Your body produces its own antioxidants such as Coenzyme 10 and Glutathione which handle your oxidative status (in healthy individuals that is).
    Your body essentially rejects dietary anti-oxidants for good reason. Wild caught salmon can be healthy but that's not because of any anti-oxidants it has. Please stop propagating this myth, it is not status quo in the biomedical field and never has been.
    Also what's with promoting fruit drinks? High fructose mixtures in the most quickly digestible form possible, since when was this healthy? I honestly can't tell if your appealing to the public health status quo to make people feel good about their assumptions in nutrition but this is blatantly false. Myself & 2 other new people had our 1st breakfast with plenty of water as we were booked for a short hike immediately after. We all were experienced hikers & this was not strenuous nor was it very hot that April morning 7/8am. After a short time we ALL began to feel nauseous & one vomited, feeling much better after (sadly I rarely vomit so I just suffered).
    We quickly figured out that it was the alkaline water interfering with our digestion. We then began adding lime juice to our water from the every present bowls of fresh limes & were completely fine after that.
    Needless to say I had a good laugh when I first saw "alkaline water" for sale as a "miracle health drink". Yeah it's a MIRACLE anyone would want to drink it & mess up their digestion like that.

    I've heard a doctor say that alkaline water "can" cure heartburn, but it's very inefficient, because with the price if a gallon of alkaline water, you could by anti heartburn pills that lasts you a lifetime.
    Besides, eating a pill is easier than drinking a gallon of water. At best, alkaline water is an outdated inefficient over rated heartburn relief.
    Keep up the amazing videos!

      @AL. He’s right. Just buy a ton of Alka Seltzer tablets and drink that. “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh, what a relief it is!”

    The stupid part is not the water itself, it's the price and the consumers. The water is a bunch of water with electrolytes. Saying the water is stupid is the equivalent of saying vitamin supplements(those advertised to boost things in your body, not those that are prescribed for deficient people) are stupid

    I've bought alkaline water to combat what I believe may be gastric reflux problems
    It was also only 3.99 a gallon
    Still more expensive than the 20-25 cents a gallon though from having a 5Gal tank to refill
    Also, BLK is more about fulvic acid than pH

    My aunt peddles this stuff. They tried to get me to buy a $2500 machine. I only went bc they hosted their meetings at this place during a champagne brunch and it was free. All you can drink champagne and mimosas so yeah “GO ALKALINE! Yes I would like another mimosa…” but what disturbed me most is this guy got up and talked about how he had cancer and was in remission and basically attributed that to the alkaline water. Said nothing about getting chemo or radiation or his doctors. And being a part of an African American/Latino family who is already skeptical of traditional medicine, it really disturbed me to see their eyes light up at what he was saying. It’s so dangerous for someone to forego a doctors visit and rely solely on alkaline water. Oh and they made sure to tell people to put it on a credit card or get a loan or borrow money to buy this machine. Even worse was their demonstration where they use the pH strips to say “see this is acidic! It’s bad! But look alkaline water is good!” Um yeah bleach isn’t acidic but you can’t drink that. This hits home for me bc my uncle actually died from prostrate cancer. He decided not to get his prostate removed and instead started downing bottles of alkaline water and the cancer metastasized. He could still be here if it wasn’t for this snake oil bullshit.

    Be careful with fruit smoothies. They contain as much sugar as soft drinks. If you want to consume a healthy smoothie, add some green like kale or spinach and water in order to reduce the sugar content and increase fiber content

      @@thebaseandtriflingcreature174 I dont speak teaspoons. Most fruit juices in the supermarket contain also about 8-12% sugar, most smoothies are around 10%, like soft drinks. The body doesent care from where the sugar is being ingested, sugar is sugar, no matter the origins.

    Anyone who thinks that drinking something with pH 8.8 will affect a biological system that uses buffering clearly hasn't actually studied chemistry at all. Buffers are amazing at keeping pH within a very small range as long as they aren't overloaded, and biological organism have feedback mechanisms to prevent that overloading. You'd have to drink some really strong alkaline stuff to actually affect your blood pH.
