In the spring of 2011, we flew to Berkeley to hear Jonas sing one of two recitals he made in the United States. At Zellerbach Hall. I closed my eyes when he sang "Morgen". The tears rolled down my cheeks. It was perfect music made in the perfect time. You might say, time itself stopped to listen.

Vraiment n importe quoi vous ne connaissait obsolument rien en chant lyrique vous n entendez rien c est un elephant dans un magasin de porcelaine un gros lourdos aucune classe le bel canto neant je chante mille fois mieux que ce gugus vraiment et je prouve a qui veux l entendre a l aise meme et je sais que c est d une pretention sans borne mais je suis pas un myto vraiment comme je l ai deja dit jonas a tout pour lui sauf le talent
Magnifique Helmut Deutsch qui approche un peu presque Gerald Moore et Dalton Baldwin , Kaufman arrive dans un timbre de voix voilé et inapproprié de chanteur moderne à faire passer beaucoup d'émotion du texte Donc je lève mon chapeau Il n'égale pas l'inaccessible Dietrich Fisher Dieskau, ni Kiri te Kanawa ou Monserrat , pas non plus Janet Baker mais il n'est pas loin ce qui à mon sens relève d'un véritable exploit Bon dieu ce qu'il faut que l'art du chant reste vivant , il s'effiloche , il nous reste les disques des grands et l'océan de l'inconscient pour nous bercer aux étoiles des Strauss, Mahler, Schubert , merci monsieur Kaufman et monsieur Deutsch de nous laisser de belles traces dans le sable qui passent ;)
Di solito non mi piacciono alcuni aspetti della vocalità di Kaufmann ma qui occorre dire che ha compiuto un vero e proprio miracolo! Esecuzione altamente musicale per un brano dalle mille suggestioni.
Mais pourquoi ce tempo de gastéropode? Certes, ''langsam'' veut dire lent, mais à ce point? J'adore Jonas Kaufmann, mais pour moi, il rend ce sublime lied absolument inécoutable.
This isn't Kaufmann at his considerable best. There are some slight lapses in pitch and to my ears here the tone sounds pinched at times. . I rather prefer Fischer Dieskau among male singers. Dame Janet Baker and Joyce Di Donato are the ones who really do it for me.

I attended 2 of Fischer- Dieskau’s concerts in Michigan and asked and received his autograph. A true gentleman!
