What a beautiful, hushed moment this song is. And there's nothing better than hearing a native German speaker sing Lieder. The diction is always impeccable, so crisp and emotive.

Singers study phonetics , if that was the case then only Italian could sing Italian opera, and french, french opera and Spanish zarzuela, music is more than words or pronunciation

@@MrDarknesslover I'm aware singers study phonetics, and that is certainly a help to learning pronunciation. Learning some phonetics is not a substitute for actually learning a language and its cadences, however. A lot of singers obviously don't speak the languages they sing, and it shows in their performance. Whether it's their first or their fortieth language, a learned speaker is always a more informed singer too. But of course this isn't a standard that should be enforced as a baseline; anyone should be able to sing in any language, regardless of whether they speak it. It's the case, though, that the learned speaker's diction will always be better and sound more natural. There's many more aspects of performance besides diction! A native speaker of German can be a stiff actor, or a novice singer, or tone-deaf. I'm not saying people should be barred by their spoken languages at all. ^-^

Doesn't touch the Christa Ludwig interpretation. Theres no violin solo in this Lieder either. Another piece getting wrecked.

Wrecked? This orchestration is by the composer, Richard Strauss!!! As for interpretation, there are many beautiful ones on RUclips, including, of course, Christa Ludwig.
