Because the "war" in Ukraine is a nothingburger. Corrupt media wants you to think Russia is more worser than Hortler and Drumph combined on a unicycle duel weilding machine guns and eating ice cream sandwiches riding up a mountain backwards while still commanding their own deep sea underwater armies of white men who all own rental property on the side and eat nothing but red meat while they salute the American flag every morning. And I would not be suprised at all if the "news" unrionically reported exactly this.
My dad makes waffles out of leftover mashed potatoes all the time and he uses this exact method! He calls them "potaffles" and sometimes serve them with whipped sour cream and onion butter he'd make from scratch. Ah, I miss home food 😭
My mom made these quite often. Not same as yours. On Saturday or Sunday we often have potato waffle. In potato waffle was sausages cut into small pieces with red and green bell pepper, garlic and rosemary. She used sharp cheddar, monterey jack, and smoked gouda instead. She never liked using process cheese, we stayed away from it. She made dipping sauce with cream cheese mixed in with cut up pieces of bacon, dice tomato, snipes of parsley with added herbs of basil and oregano (sometimes she add dill and thyme instead of basil and oregano or blend of all of them) and chopped caramalize onions. It was one of favorite weekend brunch after we finished doing weekend morning chores.
My father used to make potato cakes after Thanksgiving meal, with the leftover mashed potatoes. He was Irish and German. The way you made them reminded me of pupusas. 😋
The Joy of Cooking: I love how you sensualize the process of preparing food. Wanna make it extra dank? When it's done, take some shredded cheddar cheese and throw it in the pan, then slap whatever you're making down on the cheese and let it crisp on to the surface.. I like using a lot of cheese so it makes it like a thick crunchy coating that's softer on the inside of the layer.
