I need a pinpointer to check out lumber/logs for nails. And, find nails/screws on a trail I drive my ATV on. Not a long trail, so would like one tool to do it all. Sounds like the minelab might be a suitable tool. !!

Thanks for sharing Chris. Don't think I'd buy the new to replace the older model if I had one. Not a huge difference for me. I use a Garrett Carrot anyway. Don't think the battery is a terrible thing though. They last a long time. Problem with rechargeables is they can lose capacity if left uncharged for too long whereas a new battery will always be good. Not so easy to replace an internal battery if over depleted.

Definitely some good points there on why to keep with physical batteries.

Good test! But maybe on your next tests, you could use long round wooden dowels with the objects hot glued on the end of them :)

A 9 volt of all things. The fisher uses AAs it's amazing. I just rechargeable AAs which are pretty cheap. One batch charging while I'm using one batch.

Minelab pinpointers nope they suck , had two 35s stop working after a few months . 👎🏽 hopefully the 40 is a vast improvement.

@cjphantomcp6846 I was going to go for the carrot, but ultimately went with the minelab 40 because of the new features. My 35 dried up (I washed it) and it started working 5 days later. My wife will use it with my old equinox 600 :)
