Lindy is the perfect tour guide. Like the rest of her family, she loves a chat. And despite having lived here for most of her life, has never lost the Pommy accent. But we can't all be perfect. Great to see you both back in Oz...Enjoy!
She was lovely. Had some banter with her as well.
Perth local here. The MCG will always be the boss but we are very proud to have our own world class stadium now. Perth isn’t in the spotlight or gets much attention like more heavy duty cities, but we are mostly happy to be the hot younger sister people didn’t know about. We enjoy visiting Melbourne and the unique experience it offers very much but are happy to call Perth home. Thanks for a great vid!✊
Just the stadium- Optus is 100% better than the MCG; its just new and more modern.. but! The MCG will always be the home of footy and Optus will never take that crown.
I'm so glad you've officially visited Optus! One of my favourite things about the stadium is how the roof lights up. I read somewhere saying that Optus Stadium has the largest LED lighting system in the world (although that might have changed now). Hope you've enjoyed Perth! 😊
Welcome to Perth, hope you enjoyed your visit. I don't think we need to compare these venues. I love to see a game at the G and I love going to Optus, two very different experiences and I think it's great to have them both in the same competition.☮️
The government doesn't always get things right, but Optus Stadium and surrounds were done really well and the city and wide river make a beautiful backdrop. It looks even nicer at night when the facade and bridge are lit up. I have only seen the MCG from the outside, but I'd say that the 2 would be very difficult to compare. It's nice to have history, but it's also nice to have modern facilities. They are both good in their own right. I guess eventually Optus will have more of its own history too . I'll add that the public transport to get there is also super easy and pedestrian flow is marshalled really well. I took my kids to Dockers v Brisbane Lions coming from a 25 min drive north of the city and we were there in no time, hardly had to wait. Straight in and straight out. We went to Ed Sheeran there too with 70000+ thousand people. Took the kids to the playground there for about 20 mins after the concert, and by the time we left we were about the only ones at the station.
I'm from Perth so I have to say yes... haha I also think the Adelaide oval looks pretty nice as well.
haha yes Oval is nice but in a more unique way
Enjoy the game tonight …great weather ….go Power 🖤🤍🩵⚡️!!
I’m from Perth as well, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Adelaide Oval, lived there for 2 years back in the 90’s and saw many cricket games there. Can’t say the same for football park though, what a shithole that was, glad the SA government tore it down.
Not as big as the MCG but a lot more comfortable and beautifully made and designed for the best sporting experience
MCG is the holy grail! Brave question to ask.... Optius Stadium added to the "to do list"! 💪
Well there is a plaque to prove optus is the most beautiful 😁
@@CharlieandRob Beautiful is a very subjective word, but I do have to agree, Optus is right up there. I haven't been to the MCG since 1985, so my memory is a little faded, but I was on the ground at half time, Essendon v Hawthorn. I was an Essendon supporter back then until West Coast started the next year, so it was pretty exciting with over 100k people screaming and an Essendon win.
The mcg isn’t beautiful imo.
It’s great, but not aesthetically beautiful
@@RealHooksyout dated i might add
I go to this stadium every fortnight to watch the Dockers play but you've still seen more of it than I have!
I need to co-erce my family to do the tour too I think. I'd love to see the platinum box and the coaches boxes.
Yea do! It's great to see the inner workings
The cray pot 👍 Great views too.
At least something in Perth was open hey guys 😂🤣
⚓⚓⚓
Haha yep! Amazing weather then went to pot!
We are Dockers members, block 138, Row 20, Seats 11 & 12! ⚓️💜⚓️💜 we knows it's the best stadium in Australia!
We did the tour last year, it was great!
The MCG is just more kinda traditional to us Vic's. I mean, it's been renoed and extended a few times instead of being pulled down and rebuilt. It's iconic to us and the rest of OZ. It doesn't have to look beautiful. It's the atmosphere we go for and it delivers on that. 😊
96 THOUSAND at the MCG last night Carlton v Melbourne..Carlton won by 2 points..AFL the most exciting football game in the world...OPTUS STADIUM does look good with all the lights at the night AFL games.I THINK 10,000 LIGHTS at optus stadium. 😊
I think she said the lights could go round the world 6 times, if I remember rightly
It's too big. Horrible place to watch sport
A brilliant stadium in a beautiful sporting precinct in my favourite city of the many I have seen in my long time around, and I'm from Sydney region. It is really unreasonable to make comparisons given our architects have the advantage of over 170 years of learning when Optus is compared to the MCG.
None the less, a wonderful area across the Swan where the WACA, Gloucester Park, Belmont and Ascot Racecourses and the beautiful Langley Park areas are within cooee. My favourite view is to catch the ferry from the Elizabeth Quay jetty over to South Parth and to look back into the city.
to be fair the mcg is MUCH older than optus stadium, being from melb i obviosly love the mcg but its amazing to see optus at night when all the lights are lit up!
The oldest part of the MCG are the light towers which date from 1988(?)
What you may mean is that there has been a ground called the MCG since the mid 19th century. Maybe it has the same GPS but even the playing surface has changed -it was levelled out for the 1956 Olympics
@@rajivmurkejee7498 While much has indeed been renovated there are sections such as the Members Long Room that date to around the time of the 1956 Olympics.
For the record the National Trust protected Members Stand at the SCG date to pre 1880's. but have also been renovated since.
If you came a month later weather in all southern states is better though queensland is good except dec to march in the rainy season.
Also regarding sand all of perth is built on the swan coastal plain.. so that stadium is sand underneath...ptetty much everything in perth is growing in sand.
I lived there 7 years about 12 years ago it is a beautiful clean modetn city but it is quiet and people do say perth and adelaide are more like country towns sprawled out .
The design of the exterior and the lighting system is outstanding. The roof and grand stands are ok
I am going to Perth in October hoping to do the tour of Optus Stadium.
Well worth it
My Great Great Uncle built a trotting track where the stadium sits now. He built Belmont park across the road too, Also we used to use the tip there a lot. So my crap is under that stadium.
Haha how things have changed
Perth's famous Glocester Park, opened in 1930, is still operational and located at the western end of the Matagarup bridge to Optus.
MCG is a cricket ground where they sometimes play footy, Optus (Perth) Stadium is a footy ground where they sometimes play cricket. Modern and made for footy.
Recalcualtion required...add up the numver of hours played at national level by both sports
which part needs recalculating? its all in knowledge. C stand for Cricket. @@flamingfrancis
now this is what i call a stadium
Damn right
Just go by yourself no one said you had to have anyone with you
Adelaide cricket ground is considered one of the most beautiful sports venues in the world.
And we're off there later for the game!
@@CharlieandRob Interesting thing about Adelaide Cricket Ground is that its long oval shape allowed batters to run for 5 if they placed it in the corner; fielders had to do a relay throw. Now that has changed with the rope boundaries being closer.
only by people from Adelaide

Hi Rob and Charlie. Beautiful day in Perth. I’ve never been there.
You should probably hop on a plane for a few days 😁
Nice tour and vlog! Been to Perth but not to the stadium as it didn't exists then . Great tour guide too.
Lol whenever someone says something positive about another city/place/facility in Australia. Melbourne people in the comments -
"But Melbourne has the best *insert whatever it is*.! 🙃
Calm down guys.😆
Haha I didn't notice 😉
I prefer AAMI Park or Docklands to the MCG. Is Optus really materially better than the Emirates or Spurs' new ground? The premium seats and outdoor drinking space were a highlight at Optus but you'd have to pick your days to be sat outside on the balcony in the middle of winter. Kind of surprised the stadium won that award, as there are stadia in the US that have crazy stuff going on like pool parties for premium guests, where you can view the game from.
Shifting Sands is worst stadium in the league ; bubble wrap stadium not too bad
the answer is a resounding no
Welcome to Perth guys
For beauty it can't compare to the Adelaide oval.
Optus stadium is a lot more beautiful than Adelaide oval. Adelaide oval is still awesome.
@@scottsencountersit’s not even close in Beaty to Adelaide oval.
Optus is beautiful and fantastic on game days. York Park in Launceston has the best playing surface I’ve ever been on though.
Enjoy your stay in our lovely city
I must say I’ve enjoyed this.. I’m local.. love all the city views etc.. probably won’t get to see inside in person.. but enjoyed doing the tour with you guys..👍
Glad you enjoyed. I'm please with the drone shots at the start as well!
Just found your videos today. I’ve binge watched. Great presentation and lots of fun. I’m heading to Anvil Lookout in the Blue Mountains on the weekend after watching your story. Great stuff and hope the rest of the trip goes well.
That's brilliant. Glad to have you come along with us! If it's windy at anvils rock, stay low to the ground haha
Wow, thanks guys, I really enjoyed that. Reclining seats at the cricket!!!
Thanks! Yeah we would love to watch a game with those seats - so luxurious!
I love my city, its so little and pretty and not at all obnoxious. I hope you liked the short stop you guys had here!
Perth isn’t that little.
Literally like 4mill population..
*it's so little*
😂
@@kylegibson5933 around 2 million. Not little, though I guess compared to Sydney and Melbourne it might appear that way. The metro area is also very spread out so a lot of people hang out away from the city making the centre quieter.
It's 2.2 million now. We got over 11,000 moving from Melbourne alone this year as they desert their Communist overlords.
6 of Australia's top 10 companies have relocated their headquarters to Perth from Melbourne, as Perth is in the same time zone as half the world's money. No names, but some giant US companies have also relocated their VERY TOP executives to Perth.
Money. Growth.
Western Australia earns 56% of Australian export income, the money Australia exists on.
Melbourne was a company town, it doesn't have much else. It is now $170 billion in debt, living as parasites on the work and taxes of working States.
@@PianoDiary85 my bad I think I was thinking of Brisbane, stand corrected, still not little haha
HA! I can see my seat in the thumbnail!
Haha nice!!
Hi Rob & Charley. I was in Perth last year and went to the Dockers v Hawthorn, my first time at Optus Stadium. It was outstanding and the Dockers won. Really enjoyed the Video.
Cheers mate. Thats the comparison we need. Empty and full :)
"Slightly better" YES! Good call.
I live in Melbourne but I think the most beautiful or picturesque stadium is Adelaide Oval.
Adelaide Oval is a hotch botched thrown together amphitheater. Optus is a real stadium and absolutely picturesque. You should all come over and see what I’m talking about.
Bet you haven’t been to Optus Stadium
It always brings a smile to my face when people vome to Perth-my hone town. Sorry about the crappy weather though
Haha well this first day was great, but the weather sort of ruined the second two
Welcome to WA. This is brill! Didn't know you were here. I walked up to Optus Stadium this morning. We have season tickets for the Eagles but you've seen more of the stadium 🏟 than I have. Now you have to come for a game!
Haha would have loved there to have been a game while we were there!
Love love our Perth Stadium ❤
Should see Optus in afl mode....amazing!
would love to!
Sydney’s new Allianz Football Stadium is very impressive. Not having done a national ‘stadium crawl’ I couldn’t really be sure which is the most beautiful.
love these sort of tours you would get some trivia that people didnt even know
For sure. You've seen the comments saying people go every other week but didn't have a clue about what we saw 😁

Welcome to Perth
Been to several stadiums around Australia, not the MCG tho, so I cant really compare. But Optus has been my favourite so far out of the others.
The locals call it the ‘cray pot’.
You guys gotta do the Suncorp stadium tour …it’s not like afl stadiums but it’s cool to see the stadium in all its glory
Brilliant video guys. My wife and I go to Optus every fortnight during the AFL SEASON and even though it’s been a horrible couple of years for us (Eagles) it’s still great to go to that ground every eagles home game.
I feel for you after last few years performances like you said. But yes, what an awesome stadium
Colin Barnett- pat on the back (the premier who built this world class stadium when many tax payers didnt want it to happen including the opposition. The opposition was then in charge of the State when the stadium opened and took all the credits like it was the best thing ever…)
I can say in my opinion it was a great investment!
@@CharlieandRob We have very interesting approaches to sporting stadia in Oz as we arre currently seeing in Tassie and just before that, with the SFS. Strange that the whingers don't like seeing that investment made in the sporting events that contribute so much to our economy via sports tourism (thanks to you two for contributing). It will be very interesting to see what happens with the many improvements planned for the Brisbane Olympics. I wish we were more like nations that simply just get on with the job.
The cup holders in the seats is a great idea. One thing the MCG didn't implement for their seating
Yes definitely!
Level 2 & parts of level 1 of the MCG have cup holders. They have only been installed in the last couple of years.
Rob MCG is a walking distance to the city center, nothing beat that simply, being build in 50ties and the best stadium down under
I didn't ask what the best stadium was, I asked what is the most beautiful
a plate doesn't make something beautiful Rob,the stadium is a modern one,but our GEE is quite something,I've got at least 5 million Melbourians who will dispute your judgment,LOL all the best mate@@CharlieandRob
No more churches in Adelaide than anywhere else. In the very early days there were a number of churches of all the different denominations built on some prominent corners of the city square mile, leading to some journalist to calling it 'the city of churches' which has unfortunately stuck.
Perth Optus Stadium is defo the most beautiful in tge country. It is so user friendly and well designed. The atmosphere in game really is a cauldron and rivals the MCG albeit being smaller 65K compared to 90K + and although fairly new has already made iconic status. Every stadium has its history and strengths. It’s not got the history of the mcg of course but it is extraordinary.
That’s an impressive stadium. Interesting how much nicer the West Coast Eagles locker room looked compared to the Fremantle Dockers.
This was something I brought up. Apparently both teams decided what their changing rooms looked like. Dockers should have had a purple carpet with loads of anchors or something.
You should have asked why there are no cups next to the players names like the Eagles room :p
I hope you go to Queensland this time next week you could catch Carlton kick Brisbanes backside.
We are heading to Ql next week!
I live in Perth it's a shame u didn't get to see the light show they do when an event is on at night!!!
Rob, I'm a Melbourne boy living in Perth and I agree, Optus Stadium is stunning, especially when the light shows start, and went to the 2021 GF to watch the Doggies lose to a rampaging Melbourne, but for all it's glitz, it really just can't match the history of the MCG. Add in to that an extra 40,000 people screaming for their team and the 'G is definitely the best stadium in Australia. SCG in parts is pretty, but the blend of old and new doesn't work as well as Adelaide does, which is also a stunning stadium. Hope you enjoy your trip.
Crowds are louder in Perth.
You might get bigger crowds but they are generally evenly split. In Perth it’s 50-60k going for one team.
Shits on the G
thank goodness the weather in victoria is timed it be like ☀🌤🌥🌦🌧⛈🌧🌥🌤☀in ten minutes yes that's what you call controlled weather 😝
Of all the players you picked to mention, you had to pick Rioli! Or as West Coast fans know him as - JUDAS!
Haha yes I know the drama
He’s welcome at Port Adelaide
checkout the new sydney stadium.
Will you be visiting Cairns/Atherton this year? ✨ there are absolutly beautiful Rainforests there with tree Kangaroos & cassowary's! 🦘🌳🌴
I don't think we will be able to go that far up
Perth has one of the biggest expat communities in Australia almost a little England they have good taste and quite a large contingent of expat South Africans as well so it is definately a little bit of home for you guys but with awesome weather
We did meet a couple of English ladies working at the wildlife sanctuary but that was it
@@CharlieandRob The northern suburbs where I live are often called "Little Britain." There are loads of English people living here. Further north (Butler way) even more so. Where I used to work in Joondalup most of my colleagues were either English, Irish or South African 🙂.
@@PianoDiary85yea herd that but funny my Australian grandparents live in the Northern suburbs but my English grandparents lived in the southern suburbs haha
Well done Rob and Charlie on another informative video, the government are going to build a new stadium in Tasmania for a new AFL team, they will spend an exorbitant amount of money on it so we look forward to seeing you doing a tour of that one day. Cheers
Thank you! We will see if they can come in under budget like the optus
Nice ❤

Did you check out Adelaide oval yet ? 🙂
We did a tour last year but wernt allowed to film. We sneaked in yesterday but just got tickets for tonights game!
@@CharlieandRob hey if you an hr or two spare i suggest a visit to water fall gully 5 min from city hidden gem absolutely stunning 😃
You're back in Oz?? Welcome 😊
Yep of course!

haha!
I don’t live far from the Optus stadium, love it.
But went to Europe, the Ajax stadium was just as good, but l hate to say it, the Tottenham Hotspur stadium l visited is on another level.
I don't think either can be classes as more beautiful though in my opinion. Not saying they aren't good stadiums though
That looked like an interesting experience! A great guide & view! How do you find your seats again after a few drinks - in Sydney, you say where's the Ladies Stand? It all looks the same beige! Where is the history, the names, the colour? 🤨 It looks like a big air filter! 🥱
The stadium has only been around 5 years so it has no history. But like I said, they make up for that with amazing facilities
Mate there wouldn't be an easier stadium on earth easier to find your way around. On each level you can do an entire lap of the stadium with very wide walkways. The abundance of bathrooms means even the ladies don't have to queue for very long. The MCG and SCG have a bunch more history but they have poor planning compared to Optus as there are no add ons.
@@CharlieandRob Yes it certainly has all the modern facilities! 👍
@@BigRigWA Sounds fair, I definitely prefer wide walkways in a crowd!
It's very easy to find your seats. You hardly have to walk around anyway because everything is right there. Just walk up the stairs, back down the stairs.
I never knew about this stadium lol
Welcome to Oz! The most breathtaking stadium in Australia is definitely the MCG ( Melbourne Cricket Ground ) - it’s a must see!
We've been at the MCG empty and full. But there is no doubting how beautiful optus is!
MCG is overrated and overhyped. Much like the city it calls home.
MCG is boring.
there is always one of them@@HeathWP
Yep Optus is incredible
That's a big call...Greatest Stadium in The World...but we'll take it...
Well my question is the most beautiful 😁
Wow, what a lovely stadium and the guide was great 👍. I've seen that bridge in photos etc, and thought it was a quirky design, but today is the first time that I've realised that it's shaped like 2 swans 😲, is that correct Western Australians?
I've heard swans, or the Wagyl (water serpent in local Aboriginal culture). It represents the coming together of different cultures.
@@PianoDiary85 yeah right, that makes sense😊, it's stunning whatever it is 🤗
Yes it’s a combo of both two swans and the snakey shape if the mythical Wagyl creation serpent from the Noongar dreaming stories. It’s just near my home and everyday I walk across it and am always stunned by how cool it is. The zip line and bridge climb is a heap of fun too.
@@planetpetey 👌😊
Nice vlog ! Australian cricket stadiums are the best compared to Indian stadiums or any other countries.
Iam at this stadium in Pakistan vs Australia
Names on Lockers like Willie Rioli are put up after players have played x amount of games... Might be 100 ? Willie Rioli left Eagles and now plays for THE MIGHTY PORT ADELAIDE FC Perhaps I'm bias ? I like the stadium in the city..Shame they sold out to OPTUS & sold the naming rights. And not keen on the cattle fencing around the ground. Gotta love the Hill at Adelaide oval ! Kids kicking or bowling a ball Beautiful !
Naming rights are just leased, the agreement runs out soon.
I love going to Optus Stadium to watch the Eagles.
going to the Optus maybe... watching the eagles is where it goes downhill :D
Doesn't really matter when you go there for a specific purpose and as long as you can see your team it doesn't really matter which stadium is the most beautiful.
You wouldn't say the if you had attended VFL matches back in the 70's and before then. Teams all had suburban grounds with, in many cases, wooden grandstands. Collingwood's home ground, Victoria Park, sticks in my memory, only a few rows of seating and the rest was standing room, unless you wanted to pay extra for a seat in the stands. Toilets overflowing, to the point of having three inches of urine on the floor.
Arden St (Nth Melbourne), Windy Hill (Essendon) and Glenferrie Oval (Hawthorn) were all pretty bad too.
Well I don't agree.
@@Boxing4K followed the Rabbitohs in the 60s, the Bulldogs in the 80s and the Eels when Super League came in afterwards been to many games and so long as I was admitted I was happy.
@@kennethbell-hn9zv The point I'm making is there has to be decent facilities for patrons and the stadiums need to be safe.
Many of those stadiums I mentioned were closed because a terrible fire happened in the UK at the Bradford stadium. In the aftermath our fire authorities said that a lot of VFL stadiums were fire traps.
I'm not suggesting we need stadiums with padded seats or anything like that. Just safe and reasonably clean.
@@Boxing4Kthat's because many English stadiums were made of wood but even Redfern oval back in the early 70s were concrete with amenities.
I know youve seen both but MCG built 170 years ago stands the test of time. Optus may be the most modern but personally I rate MCG the best ground in Aus.
Ah but is it the most beautiful 😁
If there is 3 changing rooms i wonder what changing rooms clubs used in 2021 when they came here from covid
I actually think there is four is you include umpires.
So whats the cost for the stadium tour?
It was $28.49 each which is pretty good price
MCG has the history and the atmosphere that make it the best.
Fabulous atmosphere in most games also at Optus.
I didn't ask if it was the best 😉 I asked if it was the most beautiful
Any place filled with tens of thousands of people cheering has atmosphere.
@@PianoDiary85 it's like saying any church people pray in is like the Sistine Chapel. The MCG is the spiritual home of footy. Are you Australian?
@@CharlieandRob sure if you are talking about what is aesthetically pleasing only. What is also beautiful is 90,000 fans at a Collingwood/Carlton match and their 100+ years rivalry. A winter day in Melbourne, eating a hot pie with sauce. Daicos charges towards the goal with 2 minutes to go. A sea of black and white and blue. The siren sounds and the crowd is roaring in unison.
