Composed by David Wise. Recreated by me. This was made possible by locating the original instrument samples from workstation keyboards and drum machines before they were put into the game and rebuilding the soundtrack from the ground up, applying some modern mixing techniques along the way to lift the veil of 16bit compression and create an updated listening experience. Part of a project to restore the entire DKC series soundtrack. Follow me on Twitter for more updates: / princesamlet

I like how many times Dixie got hit by that same enemy!

People always mention Stickerbush Symphony but for me this has always been the best song of the DKC trilogy.
I love that there's these levels that aren't just a straightforward "point A to point B" scenario. This level is a puzzle.
David Wise, one of the best composers of all time!
I agree fully! David Wise, and Yu Peng Chen from Genshin Impact.
When they compose game soundtracks, they fits so well the theme of the level or area into the soundtrack. they use exotic sounds and instruments to capture the vibe and essence of the level or area to suit the music. truly artistic geniuses!
@@froeloeA Yu Pen Cheng fan! Holy heck!
Yeah, and is ZUN!
The "ooh ooh" part reminds me of my sister. She loves to do that part whenever I listen to Mining Melancholy.
That's super cute
Wholesome as hell :)
I can relate. I do that too.
She single? Asking for a chimp friend of mine
one of my homies is an orangutan he also wants to know
Man. While the brambles theme was always beautiful, Mining Melancholy was my favorite track as a kid. Combine that with the level aesthetic and I fell in love with those mining levels in the game. But then I heard the "chorus" chime in at 1:24 and wow.....You absolutely captured the "melancholy" part of the title. A bunch of tired, weary miners. Mining out ore to build the kremling war machine. Chanting and humming desperately as they dug ever deeper into the side of a volcano. Hoping for this to end.
I agree. Mining Melancholy is the best theme in DKC 2
@@christopherwest4128 Stickerbrush Symphony would like to have a word with you.
@@xxsusmasterxx5491 MM and SS are my favourite 2 themes by far. Nostalgia has currently hit unimaginable levels
Oh definitely my favorite too.
Noo it was zingers humming together to get through hard times of work in the mines.
*Behold, the most requested restoration yet, but today it's now a reality! How many DKC Trilogy tracks remains to be restored?*
From DKC1 (Probably won't be done):
- Funky's Fugue
- K.Rool's Cacophony
From DKC2:
- School House Harmony
- Hot-Head Bop
- Bad Bird Rag
- Klubba's Reveille
- (Not sure if this counts) Bonus Intro
- Game Over
From DKC3:
Every song except for Rockface Rumble, Treetop Tumble, Big Boss Blues, Mill Fever, Cascade Capers, Boss Boogie, & Cavern Caprice
@@jblitz1556 From DKC1 the OSt it's all done.
The DKC2 themes that you mentioned, are done Hot head Bop and Bonus Intro.
And you're right about DKC3.
Only *1* more track remaining for restoration for DKC2:
1. Bad Bird Rag ^__^
@@Surgicalsensei bonus intro and flight of the zinger are done, just browse them
Lucas Sosa Just saw that. My bad. I thought that was from DKC1. Still just only a few left for DKC2
Finally I can rest in peace. I always thought that the chorus part were people humming, not zingers, but this restoration takes the music track to the next level. My nostalgia gauze just exploded!
The part between 0:35-0:54 is magical.
1:23-1:43
DK2 has one of the best if not the best soundtrack in video games EVER, period
0:52 hey quit cheating
DKC Rewind...
Shit man, knowing how hard and precise you gotta be with this game, I'm actually alright with a little do-over option
REWIND IS FOR THE WEAK

YAHHHHH its rewind time
How on Earth did you manage to find the steel hammer sample that music restoration artists have spent years trying to perfect/ find?
It sounds just like the original and you've got all my respect because of it, amazing work. I've been waiting a long time for a true HD restoration of this track and hearing it so close to the original makes me incredibly happy.

Update: He fixed it!
Hey Sam, I think the urls link to Ice Cave Chant instead of Mining Melancholy. Love this though!
Can confirm, both mp3 and flac
He fixed them now!
ZingerX Yay! The FLAC is AMAZING!
nunca fico enjoado desse jogo.
This game definitely needs to be remastered for the switch, with this exact tune!!! Oh and I’ve always admired the background to these levels: diamonds, gold and emeralds
If the original Silicon Graphics workstation 3D models used by Rare still exist somewhere today, then an HD remake is definitely possible in theory. Good luck getting Rare (owned by Xbox Game Studios) and Nintendo to agree on licensing such a remake though ... especially Nintendo do not take kindly to fan-made games with their intellectual properties.
Nah the original DKC games are classics and shouldn't be touched. They look fine as they are.
Well its on the switch
@@zehnz5 dkc1 looks like a ds game or something those graphics are amazing
@Gustavo Fring DS huh, these games looked on par with early PS1 games that’s to say really impressive
the chorus sound like a chorus instead of freaking zingers :P
haah so true .:)
I actually prefer the zingers =/
I think the chorus is supposed to sound like zingers
I read chorus as Corona man I need me some sleep
@@AeroRain lol :P
It was said it was impossible, and yet you did it. Amazing work.
considero a Saga Donkey Kong melhor do que Muitas Sagas Atuais, Perfeição É a palavra mais Próxima Pra descrever esse Game ❤️❤️❤️
Vdd
the vocals sound just like you would expect and they're still beautiful
what a fantastic video game track
I'm really curious if David Wise has heard any of these restorations and what he thinks of them all. It really is incredible being able to hear how these games would have sounded if the music hadn't been so compressed back then.
It is, but at the same time, the songs were composed with the sound chip and compression in mind.
@@pubcle and he still made ART! eve years later, these songs still sound amazing and melancholic, even if you haven't played the game, they're amazing
@@KeebyFan I agree entirely. I'm just stating that the songs were often _meant_ to be compressed, as they were built for the SNES and around it, rather than composed then emulated on the SNES.
@@pubcle yeah, and I'm pretty sure David said that the DKC music is no exception for that so yeah
Finally, all the samples. This is my hardest jam from DKC2 besides Hot Head Bop.
I always loved how the "Ooh" sounded uncompressed, and now it's nice to hear the 0:53 and 1:43 instrument uncompressed, the most hard to find yet (alongside with the Nuts 'n Bolts' guitar riffs).
Thanks for the effort you put doing this restorations. I doesn't found any mistake in this yet, so just for now I can say that this restoration it's perfect.
This is effing marvelous. Thank you, the Great Jammin' Sam Miller!
0:53 feels absolutely a banger, nailed 1:24, and blessed 1:43 with the strength it always deserved. Masterpiece.
My God... The part at 1:24 isn't zingers buzzing, it's chanting. Mind blown.
Also, how many more do you have left for DKC2? Or was this the last one?
it was better when I thought it was zingers.
@@notthisuniverse Yeah, it represented the onscreen action.
I thought it was Zingers buzzing back then too lol
Real talk mind blown.
It's neither. That's because the sound isn't from the original song. The restoration make it sound like that. The original song sounds a littledifferent
Jogo incrível! E é bom ver o carinho que as pessoas tem por ele.
I know no one cares but I got this game on GBA when I was around 5 years old, my parents only let me play video games for 30 minutes a week. I remember playing this game on and off for 6 years until I finally beat it. It was an amazing experience, this game was such a huge part to my childhood!
1:14....goosebumps! The music composers of those old SNES (and also SMD) games made an absolut fantastic job!
Sounds so clean!, Thanks so much for the Restoration!
I was waiting such a long time for this... thank you. Great job as always.
Thank you sooo much for tour work and dedication, this is wonderful
Worth every second of wait. I love this song, thank you for not giving up on it.
Man, your work restoring this soundtrack is beyond outstanding! Amazing job
It's here! And it's marvelous! Thank you Sam, so very much.
Might be my favorite restoration yet. Thank you for doing this project!
Man, I was looking for this just last week, and now it's here. You magnificent person!
This is my favorite video game song, ever. Thank you very much for putting in the time and effort into remastering it
Honestly last night was the first time watching your live videos, and wow! Seeing all the work and effort put into these just makes them that much more amazing. An incredible, unforgettable soundtrack restored by a talented soul. Thanks for this! Mining Melancholy is easily one of my favorites.
@Jammin' Sam Miler Thank you for always bringing us that nostalgia through your work to restore DCK2's original songs!
1 million+ views incoming.
Thank you greatly for everything you do. Truly a blessing.
Aaaaah yesssss this is my personal favorite. Thanks for the amazing work Sam.
I love how you got all the subtle details, like one of the pickaxe sound channels leaving out at 0:22 and the background hum at 1:45
Holy crap. It took a long time, but the wait worth it. This sounds amazing. My favorite song in the trilogy has finally been restored.
A superb restoration! Probably the one most people (myself included) have been waiting for. Well done! 👍🏽
Amazing! Thank you so much for all of your hard work on these!
I've waited so long for this. Thank you.
Perfect!!!!
I wonder, where did David Wise get that creativity that marked the childhood of many
This is amazing man, the best one I've ever heard 10/10 💕

*Yaaaaah* its rewind time
Nice restorations. And bless Dave Wise for bringing these DKC tunes into my life.
AAAAAAA!!! Thanks sooooo much!! I was missing this one ❤️🔥 love it! It’s perfect!!!
this is by far the best one. this is truly a treat. i love the echo of the metal clang sound effects. excellent work!
My favorite song from DKC 2, and you made it infinitely more awesome.
As much as 2020 has sucked so far, this is definitely a reminder that there are still bright spots amidst the chaos.
This might be my favourite restoration yet.. great job man keep it up👍
It's finally here and sounds amazing, nice work
I'm simply speechless. You're amazing sam! Thank you SO much!
Probably my 2nd favorite track of DCK2! Thank you for restoring it!
Wow, this is a powerful remaster. Great job with this, is one of your best works!
You made me love my favorite DKC song even more... thank you.
Hearing the opening percussion so crisply for the first time almost brought a tear to my eye. Amazing!
never played this game, I discovered this track because someone added it to a public playlist on our server
THIS TRACK IS SO GOOOOD, wonderful work
Brilliant! Thank you so much for this Sam
Sounds absolutely incredible!!! One of my favorite tracks from the game!! Love it!! ❤️
Finally!!! Thx for ur efforts man, it's great
1:23 best part
Out of all the remakes out there and the attempted restores this one is by far the best imo! As always your doing fantastic work so keep it up! Also just a quick side note because i picked it up as i started listening to the main melody @ 0:15 in the original as the main melody continues outward it gets a bit sharper/ brighter then as the second part of the melody @ 0:18 kicks in it does the same. I didn't notice it in this version . besides that as always its awesome and keep up the hard work!! :D
I really can't wait till he fixes that one minor detail but seriously this is so awesome ^^ :D
Thank you for making this entire playlist! I still need to play DKC2 this is great stuff!
You did such a fantastic job restoring it. It sounds so alive.
Wow! Truly a masterpiece, incredible work 😎
Just got the goosebumps listening to my childhood fav soundtrack. You literally killed the original track by restoring it. Loved itt
I don't know why, but this is giving me some sort of "80s/90s power song" vibe to me. I could see this being the instruments to a song about some good guy fighting off an especially tough villain.
That GDrive link is mvp! Thank you so much, man!
Amazing work, thanks sam!
30 years later and this song still pops in my head every now and then.
Finally, been waiting for this one.
Thanks this is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!!
DK2 tem uma trilha sonora marcante. Está entre as melhores da história dos games. Amo esse jogo e sua trilha sonora. Parabéns pela remasterizacão , ficou fantástico 👍🏻
Amazing restoration. My favorite song from all DK Country games.
Still one of the greatest games I’ll ever play with such an amazing library of music
Sometimes this is my favorite game song of all time. Well done!!
I can't believe you found the missing link! That' my childhood in 3 minutes, fucking loved that, you deserve a Ferrari for that alone! Thanks mate
...I used to think that those red lights on the background wall (or were they TNT sticks?) were hotdogs when I was a kid. Playing these cave levels would always make me hungry for hotdogs. I'd sit on the screen and let the song loop because I loved it SO MUCH. Thank you for this remaster!!
Woooww, these restorations are phenomenal
My favorite DKC2 soundtrack, this is so good :D
Superb like always, cheers from Brazil
Yes! Finally! Thank you so much.
I love your work with all my heart
This track sounds so much better uncompressed. Great work!
Fantastic work!
The music is great but holy moly you had ample amount of time to choose gameplay that wasnt this. im so glad this video is only for listening purposes
I love this game
Stuff like this must be timeless because this sounds like it could come out today.
I think about this track atleast 3 times a week for the past 20 years… what a stronghold it has on my (our) memory !
You nailed this one! 🔥🔥
The feels ;') ,so many good memories with this music and DKC 2 obviously, best music ever! Waiting for extended versión :D

David Wise: "Hold my tea."
Amazing job!
That's what I call a Remastered!!!!!
Awesome job!!!!!!!!!!
Wait what?? My childhood has been restored??!!
This is so good i'm crying 😭
Love it! Only have one thing to say, the humming part were "Mmms" more than "Uuuhs".
I always thought they were supposed to sound like the bees buzzing.
