Thank you to David Wise for this wonderful soundtrack.
Thank you to David Wintz for an incredible video, you're the best!!
This was a passion project of mine- using my new organ for the soundtrack to one of my favorite games growing up! I hope you've enjoyed all the tracks so far- this video completes the set with a total of 18. ACTUALLY though, I just so happened to record the COMPLETE soundtrack, to use in a modded version of the game! This is the only way you can hear all 39 tracks I recorded:

I like it - a lot ! Amazing stuff !!
Than you so much to you "both" (!) for making and sharing this with the whole world --- Love it !
getting your comment is all we've been talking about for days HAHA thank you SO much for your incredible compositions that inspired this video and that were such a huge part of my childhood - it wouldn't have been the same without you!!
@@KaraComparetto I'd love to see you perform live one day. And again, thank you for such a wonderful video, David
@@David3Wise 🥰🙏 Thank you for one of the best soundtracks of all time.
Sticker brush symphony always makes me feel feelings and your rendition hit me right in the feels. I suppose i should thank you..lmao 🥹🥲
Mr. Wise I saw your performance in Chile, I could not believe it. Thank you so much for making great a part of our childhood.
Love the extra attention to detail, dressing up as Diddy and Dixie, the mannerisms, and even chewing gum as Dixie. Wonderful performance all around. DKC2 has such a fantastic soundtrack.
It really does, wasn't hard to make something good out of it :)
Man i didn't even notice it... thanks for pointing it out
@@KaraComparettolet me be your donkey Kong ,and call me negro!!!! ❤❤❤❤ 💪🏿🙊Huuuu há há há.😊
now i understand the chewing of the gum. AMAZING! would be it without it.
i love the details, specialy how she is chewing gum
It blows me away every time I consider that this is the soundtrack for Diddy Kong's Quest. It is absolutely transcendent.
it's incredible!
You mean Diddy's Kong Quest ;)
@@sebastienbeaulieu4070 the weird thing is in the prototype it was called Diddy Kong's Quest......and then for some reason they decided to make the title a pun. It took me about 20 years to realize this, I was always calling it "Kong's Quest" my whole childhood
That’s because David Wise is a genius
I didn’t realize it was Kong Quest either until a few weeks ago LOL it was a very exciting revelation 😂
It's crazy how with such limited hardware David Wise created such a masterpiece. You can also feel the impact of all the sound effect that David put in his compositions, like Klomp's Romp is perfectly played here, but without the sounds of the wind and the boat craking it feels like 2 different songs.
Thank you for this, for a few minutes here I was back in 1995 .
Even though they are 2D plane games, they are extremely immersive and atmospheric and what you describe is a huge part of why.
Often, limitations stimulate creativity.
funny enough, the music was made with the same method as the graphics: prerendering. Basically David Wise made the songs on a synth of his choosing, then added ambient sounds to the music itself with the help of a computer, and then compressed it all to fit onto a SNES cartridge. The limitations themselves were more literal than anything else. Not to say they weren't impactful on the music itself, but bro wasn't creating the songs with a synth hooked up to the SNES or anything, just composing elsewhere and shoving it onto the cartridge when he was done.
Pretty sure this is how all SNES music was made though, hence why all the iconic Nintendo games have their own unique soundfonts, and also is why Tim Folin is considered a technical genius: for doing so much with so little and still leaving room for more on the table when he was done. Plok's OST uses only 5 of 8 available channels, for example.
@@ByrneBaby No. The SNES was my synth of choosing - written directly to the Snes using my sound-set.. There was never any synth it was pre-made on.
@@David3Wise that's amazing, I get really happy each time this type of information (perfect for trivia!) is confirmed by the actual developers. Thank you so much for your work, your compositions will forever stay as a dear part of my childhood.

Am I the only one who feels like DKC2 has the BEST soundtrack out of the three DKCs released on the SNES? I can’t help but listen to this over again.
I agree!
Stickerbush Symphony. A track always guaranteed to unlock a core part of me. That achey inner child. The sound of innocence, longing, and and unholy crap ton of brambles. I loved the way the clouds floated by so softly in contrast to the infinite thorns. Great rendition. Loved all the little details of the production as well.
I love your description!!
i knew the song as bramble blast cos that was what it was called in smash brothers brawl, i thought they had left it out of their medley but seeing your comment made me think to check under the other title
DKC 2: Diddy's Kong Quest might be one of the very few perfect video game soundtracks ever composed.
Thank you so much Kara for sharing your talent with the world and doing this soundtrack justice.
Long may your Banana Hoard continue to grow.
Thank you, I hope it does too! XD
What always impressed me about the DKC2 OST is that they managed it on the SNES.
@@xxProjectJxx Some genuine technical wizardry from those Brits at Rare.
DKC2 and Chrono Trigger are the two perfect video game soundtracks in existence, in my opinion
The game itself is incredible too. It's one of the most mechanically satisfying games on SNES, with maybe the tightest, most responsive controls. Only other contender I can think of is Megaman X. Great music in that game as well.
This video made tears come out of my eyes. I remember saving up my allowance for months to buy this game. I even had a coupon for the game that I cut out of a flyer and slept with the coupon under my pillow. I played the game all the time, and then when I got older my SNES ended up in my grandparents basement. Whenever my cousins and I got together we would all sit around the old tv set in the basement and play Donkey Kong Country 2 together. These are the sounds of my grandparents house, the sounds of my childhood, and the sounds of being together with my family. I love what you have done in this video more than I can ever put to words. Thank you.
thanks for sharing your story!! I'm so happy I could bring you back to those times even just for a few moments!
So amazing! Reminds me of my sister playing DKC2 back in the days on SNES. My brother and I got the N64 when it came out and we gave the SNES to my sister like "here, take this old stuff huehue." and she grinded the shit out of DKC2. She was so good at this game
HAHAHAHAH love that story 😂 that’s like when we got a ps4 and my brother was trying to get me to switch over from the wii to play assassins creed. But I got beastly good at Mario kart wii because I just played for hours and hours 😂
Kara, I didn’t leave my own unique comment when this first came out because I was so at a loss for what to say. Nothing I can conjure up will do you any justice, but I’ll try and speak from the heart. I’ve listened practically every night since you’ve uploaded this resplendent gem. This video was your all-time greatest masterpiece for RUclips. There is no classic video game for the SNES that evokes this degree of nostalgic gaiety and pure bliss of DKC2. And for good reason. The music was the most beautiful ever put to a video game. I still don’t know, almost thirty years later, how David pulled off his tour de force, but it will touch my heart forever. If a night is lonely and cold, your renditions (and more broadly, my reverie of the DKC2 soundtrack in totality) are like being kissed by a sunrise. If you ever meet David in person, he owes you a gigantic hug and you owe him the automatic reciprocation of that hug from yourself and symbolically from all of us. ❤
Well this was so sweet and kind, thank you, I hardly know how to respond back! Thank you for your thoughtful message- it means so much to me! I would love to give David Wise a hug hahahahhahahahha
@@KaraComparetto You’re welcome. And I knew doggone well you would
I like how Dixie is more stoic, and Diddy is more chaotic, in Kara's rendition.
That was intentional! :D
Knowing your creativity, both overt and subtle, I never would have doubted as much! This was EVERYTHING, congratulations, and thank you, again! ❤️ ♥️ 💜
Wait, their both the same girl? I have a hard time telling the real people apart so this totally fooled me. Saddens me though that she had to play both parts by herself.
@@callisoncaffrey It’s not sad to me. It’s very joyful. She brings joy to the world.
@@PDIcomics Hm? It seems like you don't have the mental capacities to muster up the required reading comprehension skills to understand the statement I made.
Very kool 🐊
Gotta say she Krushed it.
@@reidatherton7743 Kara delivers Krushing Blow! 🥊

Nice.
the thing that blows my mind is how an organ can make both stately and beautiful sounds and alos, creepy kremling pirate sounds. What a cool instrument
yes it's the king of instruments!!
I've had a lifelong obsession with this game, glad it's still appreciated. 👏👏👏👏 Bravo
11 out of 10
so do I !!! :D
Im so obsessed with this game too
You have*, we have* @_@ 😂
Same same
I'm a casual fan of yours, so I was blindsided by this masterpiece this morning. As someone who grew up with the DKC trilogy as a kid, this soundtrack reserves a special place in my heart, and you absolutely crushed it. The little details like the hand-drumming in Klomp's Romp and the glass tapping in Mining Melancholy made me smile. Thank you!
Blindsided by a good video of mine? not sure if I should take that as an insult or compliment!! XD hahaha I'm just kidding, I'm glad you ended up loving it :) forest interlude, krooks' march and hot head bop are favorites of mine!
@@KaraComparetto- Blindsided by finding it in my suggestions, that's all! I didn't expect it.
I've never clicked on a video so fast in my life.
ahhh!!
Took me way too long to realize they’re both the same person lol. Loved this! It was incredible! Thank you!
well at least you figured it out, some haven't yet haha! :)
Holy crap, you're right! Lol, and yet another detail I missed!
lol, me too. I thought they were sisters or something. Wasn't watching too closely and just listening. The hat covers the face a bit too.
Took me reading this comment. I wasn't looking that closely.
This took me a while as well. Holy Moly, your performance is really thought through.
Thought through... hmmm looks funny😂
@@KaraComparetto
Thank you youtube algorithm thank you so much for suggesting me this masterpiece!! I teared up from the nostalgia. I'm 39 and my hairs on my hands are looking at the sky. Youre amazing Kara Comparetto for your talent and passion!!! All the love from Greece, keep it up!!! Just beautiful...
aw that is so sweet thank you
DKC2 arguably had the best soundtrack in the DKC series. This was my childhood here. I always go back and play through this game every now and again :D
I agree with you! thank you :) I play it sometimes too!
Arguably as in definitely. 🙂
Damn that Stickerbush symphony hits deep, Beautiful job
Words cannot describe how much of an impact the DKC2 ost had on my childhood. Each piece is unique and perfectly encapsulates the vibe of the different worlds we find ourselves in. You have your swamp, mine, dungeon, forest, pirate ship, ice, underwater and volcanic levels, and so many more. David put his heart and soul into each track. Awesome homage!
thank you!! The source material was more than enough to get inspired for these arrangements... just genius stuff!
Absolutely loved this games music when I was 10 and now I can truly appreciate the art it really is as an adult
This is some great music to monkey around to!
Now that I have watched the whole thing, Absolutely stunning! Clearly made by someone who loves the game! Love the outfits, the music, the energy you bring, the different characters you play! I loved how you added the dueling piano's vibe to Snakey Chantey.
thank you! yeah im enjoying more and more the cinematic stuff, I'm already thinking what I want to do in my next big video haha
It is not discussed enough just how amazing these soundtracks were. Iconic piece after iconic piece, there's a reason I still play DK Country 1-3 to this day. Great playing as usual!
there isnt' a dull moment in the entire soundtrack, I'd say that's pretty genius! :D
Ok, this whole performance has been incredible but then as soon as you got to the Enchanted Woods/Web Woods (one of my favorites), I was like oh man, how is she gonna pull this one off when you can't slide notes with piano and organ, but then YOU STILL MANAGED TO MAKE IT SOUND SO AMAZING. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Incredible organ work in that one. Loved the forest footage you used at the end, too. ❤
thank you so much! I love when people point that one out because it's my favorite in the set alongside Krook's March. Such a good track and the organ makes it sound so good!
You wanna make me cry?! This is amazing!
I know right!
I love making grown men and women cry LOL!
@@KaraComparetto it’s like a super power 😆

Being super excited for the premiere! 😍
Yes! I just randomly decided to do it... and I have someone who offered to work on it so it's coming soon! I'll let you know :)
@@KaraComparetto LOL, I can't tell why, but I somehow "smelled" it! :D

Given how fiendishly hard the game was, I applaud you for memorising all of these levels
The organ adds so much to your multitrack! And both pianos are very nice!🥳
This was amazing. Thank you for doing this
Absolutely crushed the songs and video!!! Amazing job
Amazing! Stickerbrush Symphony for the win!
Kara I love how weeks after the video came out you still read and Like and reply to all the new comments every day. The PDIComic one was my favorite. And I’ve been reading the new comments every day myself as someone who loves your work and this video most especially. You poured your heart and soul into this, and it took you years of practice and dedication to not only become so skillful at the piano but to also build your creativity and your strikingly amazing stagecraft. So therefore it makes sense that you want to read everything your fans and viewers have to say about this masterpiece. This video also got way more views than most content creators will ever get for a video in their entire lives. And you deserve every one of them and more. You’re such a genuine and stand-up woman.
I just posted a new video and hardly keeping up with these comments now but I'm trying! I'm also recording the complete undertale soundtrack this week so im quite busy haha! Thank you, and I'm glad you notice those little things!!
