How’s it going, Reinventers? I am sure some of you will think this step is either unnecessary or that you have already done this. But it is so important to start with clear boundaries in your reinventing process, so let the system work for you! Let me know where you are struggling in your reinventing journey. I want to help you during this challenge!
Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your video. I'm going to follow along and try to reinvent. Normally have my notifications turned off but I turned it on for you so that I can follow your videos. Keep up the good work and know that someone out here is listening
I am a writer and working hard to find my space on platforms. I have many writer contacts who are developing online courses, etc. as well. I know I'm 8 months late to the conversation. I hope your journey is going well!
My retirement re-inventing will involve a lot of volunteering, ideally 1 day off and 6 different places on the other days (so I can keep track of the days, if its Monday I am at the food bank etc.) however with covid most places are not taking new volunteers so so far I just volunteer 2 days and have not even started at the 2 I feel will be most fullfilling. I am growing impatient and looking at other organizations. You mention in videos you are a retired minister so I would like your opinion as a minister, can people with very different values successfully work together if they have a common goal? I have found a local minister who does great work in a street ministry to the homeless. The problem is I think he is so conservative he feels every word of the Bible is true and was dictated by God in the same King James english that Jesus spoke, and he will think I am so liberal that I am basically a pagan that needs to be "saved". How do I set boundries? Will we be able to work together to feed the poor or should I look for a better fit? At the food bank I do work with a number of refugees who are musllim and that is okay, but you know how ministers sometimes get funny ideas about saving the world.
Great questions! At this time, so many people are so set in their opinions that it is hard to help others if you get into any kind of discussion of beliefs. Perhaps you can try the old adage of not speaking of religion or politics. If pressed, you can say that you are here to help and want to focus on those in need and not on personal beliefs. I have seen cases where folks volunteer without having to swallow the same dogma, so I know it is possible. Even if you are accepted as a volunteer, this minister will most likely see you as a possible convert so I would imagine that you may be challenged at some point. That is where you may have to find another ministry to serve the homeless. I suggest trying it to at least see how this local minister has been so successful. Hey, with your experience, you might be able to start your own street ministry. Seriously, think about it. Good luck!

Thanks, Christa! What area of your life are you wanting to reinvent?
