Another great video on how the Boss knows what to do.
Like I've said before the Boss knows, call him for all of your needed work, he can do anything, and do it right!!!
Lol thanks Dave
My primary truck is down for transmission issues, my excavator is in for water pump/cooling fan failure and with the current state of reliable help, I just work alone.... This video hit home
I here ya man good luck
Same. Become strong working alone. Rely on no one but myself and my machines. I will fill all the seats. Alot of running around and efficiency isn't the best all the time, but one person came around and jobs are getting done smoothly.
@@fanningconstruction2050 8 yrds today... Alone. Just another day in my office. Thx brother and your right.
Nobody got hurt and in a spot where clean up wasn't to bad I guess thats the bright side Thanks for sharing 👍 Hate seeing bad things happen to good people
I know it all worked out in the end Thanks Frank
Oh, you can't beat a manic Monday Mike..... 🤦♂️🤯
Thankfully, the oil didn't ignite when the hose blew, the oil was under immense pressure and atomised, that is why it ended up everywhere.... at least the clean up was not too bad 👍
Good on you for getting the hose replaced, obviously Monday was a write off..... Onwards and upwards now Boss !!! 💪💪💪💪
Nice repair Mike, so glad nobody got hurt. That would have been ugly. Be safe. Stanley in Md.
Thanks buddy
Wow that is nuts how much of a mess the leak made. Thanks for videotaping the work.
Big blowout not a leak
fortunate it happened where it did for sure fairly low cost repair , I hope you change the wiper blades before you need them .Thanks for taking us along
OMG good calll !! 🤙🏻
Hate blowing hoses but it’s nice when you know exactly has to be done to fix it....they finally removed those stump you ripped out a few weeks ago on Miller’s Corners rd. Graded and seeded. Looks good
Yes I seen that I was wondering who graded and seeded??
@@DIRT-BOSS don’t know
OH NO!!! While I HATE what happened, I always love your "COMBAT READY" plan in motion for the perfect solution. OH and at the video start I thought, I'll have to tell him of my old 'conduit trick' (radiator & heater hoses) and bingo, you knew that one. NOT happy to hear you say that 'BOX' (size of a small cottage) FELL! YOUR reaction to something wrong is over the top (just like YOU!) Thanks for this 'nail biter'! Sonny
Always got to have a plan stay calm get it done !
Sorry to hear of your breakdowns great thing you have knowledge to sort everything good luck.👍👍👍
Thanks
Ben There done that. The hydraulic line idea... Came right off the fitting. When the box slams against the frame.. It sure wakes you up.. LOL
Lol yup
Well, your back in service. Things break and you have to deal with them when it happens. Glad that it was just a hose.
Yes me too
It could have been a lot worse. Least you're back on the road. Take care and GOD BLESS and I'll see you on your next vidja.
Yes definitely
Be glad! When those cylinders go, the box will slam down so hard it can damage the truck! Makes a loud BOOM!!
NO! I am NOT gonna ask how you know that! Amazed that no one invented some sort of automatic ratcheting "safety" like a garage LIFT has. Problem being, you'd have to RELEASE the pawl every time you needed to lower the box (get out of the truck!) Still could be a small hydraulic release. WOW- BOOM!
@@sonnyblazer5504 Yeah...It's not pretty!
Oh yeah I've watched a few videos on that
Don't miss replacing hyd lines like that try it with snow and ice packed everywhere laying in the snow did that 4 28 year for DOT.
Yes sir I'm right with you Love rocks and snow dripping down your neck into your back 😂
You have had your share of breakdowns this year hope things go better hear on out, great video 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yes agreed thanks
What a royal mess! Excellent idea with the old radiator hoses for sleeves - the more the better. And I'm sure those four buckets of fluid cost a pretty penny, too. When it rains, it pours, but maybe hydraulic fluid will be a good rust preventative for the frame, LOL.
Yes it is a pain but you're right It will be rust proof now for the winter I won't have to hit it with the woolmax wax 😁
@@DIRT-BOSS LOL!
Relocate the air tank further back in the truckframe to give your hose more room.
Mike was going to tell you about the radiator hose trick and your doing it been using that trick for years!!!! I’m feeling the sadness with the bottom of the truck all greasy! I know how particular you are keeping your baby clean 🧼! Hopefully it won’t take long to get it back to it’s former clean state!!!! Good luck 🍀 see you in the next video!!!
Yes that's a good trick she's just about clean now
Nice man my trucks dumps fine when unloaded but when fully loaded if i dont give it gas from the start until it fully goes up then it will stop mid way! How much hydraulic fluid should be in the black reservoir? Mine measure like 3 inches from the bottom when i fully extended it
Well you should have a sight glass on the side of it if not that might be right 3 in by the time it comes down it should be 3/4 of the way full.. so measure it when it's down if you don't have a sight glass.. also if yours is mechanical linkage make sure your linkage is swinging all the way on the PTO underneath that will make it slow
Excellent job on fixing everything!!👍👍
Thanks
started my 135 link belt excavator after about two months of not using it…sucked up gunk from the tank…clear fuel bowl loaded with crap…gotta change filters, and drain the sludge out from the tank….never ends
I know never does
In the past I would put another tube around the pinch points to protect the hydraulic line from being robbed. Could you have made a custom stainless steel pipe or tubing in the place of the hydraulic line. What you did if I may say should have been done?
Heck no there's nothing stronger than hydraulics.. there's no room to put anything else than I did It will be fine
Very interesting video Boss. I am amazed at your knowledge, talent and ability to do what you do. I had a wagon peddler business selling supplies, parts and tools in southeast Massachusetts for thirty years. I had many good friends like yourself that had me keep them supplied. If you knew a guy with his hydraulics license, there was a good chance he could do just about anything. Looking forward to all your future adventures.
Yes southeast Massachusetts I'm right on the border so we're close
On the plus side, you have a nice coat of oil on everything to protect her from all the brine on the road this winter!
Yes
You are so lucky! I watched trucks flip or have frame damage! Great video and be safe
Yes I'm lucky the load got off in time That's crazy
@@DIRT-BOSS Yeah man! That's such a beautiful truck! You keep it spotless
Oh no the Kenny is DOWN great job on the repair mike 👍👍
Thanks buddy
I just had something similar happen in my triaxle. Delivering fill and had the front seal blow on my pump what a mess. Luckily I had a spare pump handy. If you ever need a hose made late night or over the weekend to get up and running let me know I'm just south of you and stock most of the common fittings for my own equipment.
Hey thanks man I appreciate it! You down in Greenville?
@@DIRT-BOSS Westerlo. I can do ¼"-1". I have pretty much all the jic and npt fittings stocked. A good amount of the 4 bolt flange, bsp, and orfs. If I don't have it I can get it in a day or 2 for half of what abele and mooradians charge. I bought the crimper after I got a hose made at abele that was $280. I priced the fittings and hose was less then $100.
Here in ontario,I spray my equipment and personal truck with oil spray every year.Of course not on brakes, but that oil will save that chassis and frame, just dirty to work on.
No doubt
That's a good looking dump truck there Boss! What year model is it? I have an International tri-axle dump truck with polished aluminum wheels and fuel tanks and the best degreaser I have found is Simple Green. I get mine from Lowe's most of the time. It will not harm the polished aluminum. Spray it on solid strength and on before you wet the truck. You can see the oil or grease just sliding down. Let it set just a few minutes then presume wash it off. The reason I like it so well is it is strong but won't harm my polished aluminum. It won't hurt the paint either. When I had a Harley, I would use it on it and it was awesome. Sorry I rambled but this is a great video. Keep em coming sir! 👍
Oh and you can put the Simple Green in a pump up sprayer and just spray it on the brakes before you wet them and it should take the oil out of the pads. I've been down the very same road you are on brother.
I will definitely get some I've used it in the past but yeah I'm going to do it!
Great video, 👍
What kind of hydraulic fluid do you use for the dump truck
ISO 32
I was just reading here on the webb that Kenworth dump trucks were rated number 1 out of 7 different heavy duty manufactures. Peterbuilt was 2. I don't know why the article didn't say why they are rated #1.
You sure take great care of that Rig
What year is it?
I was talking to a Peterbuilt dealer and he said a new rig deck out kinda like yours ran about 235K with the bed & tag wheels. I don't understand how you people afford them!
KEEP ON TRUCKIN!!
Yeah Solid truck It is crazy price tag mine's a 2013
Ohhh mannn!! I have done similar jobs a time or 10!
On the farm over the 55 years I lived there either with my dad or on my own,,,,. I was to the point that the trucks were routinely, every 2 weeks, hoisted up and inspected. We only had one with the front telescopic hoist, the rest all had Nordic reverse scissor lifts. They were faster, but not as stable. The grain/silage boxes we used were not designed around a front hoist. They came down fast if a hose blew though! Had one fail in a grain elevator and the fluid went right into the grain being conveyed up to the storage tank. It contaminated that, and everything it touched in the dump pit!! Ohh man! Ultra fine hydraulic oil mist combined with grain dust??? What a potentially explosive moment. That was an awe full bill. I usually took it as a repair fully on my dime, but had to put that one on the insurance. The repairs to my truck were on my dime, but the clean up and down time for that mill had to go to insurance. It was down for a week. They had a second pit to dump in, but it was smaller and therefore slower. At least they stopped the conveyor before it reached the storage tank!!! It was just over $125,000 Canadian, in the 1990s. That was an expensive hose! That’s when I went to detailed inspections and pressure washes with our Hotsy pressure washer. I still have that thing!! Kept it when I sold the ranch. If there was dirt accumulating and no grease fitting to explain it, it was usually a hose starting to leak. We never dropped a box after that!! Still replaced hoses, but before anything came down spraying that oil everywhere. I’m sure you already know Mike, but that mist you get when a hose goes is highly explosive for a few moments while it’s in the air. Shut the truck down if at all possible if it happens. We had a few hoses go on the tractors as well, especially on the cultivators and discing machines. They were so heavy!
Glad you found the problem!! The hot water from the pressure washer and the engine degreaser you used should do the job very well. Maybe a second time after a week or two. It oozes out for a while everywhere!! There are likely dozens of viewers that have worked through similar messes, I’m sure. I feel for ya buddy!!! Best wishes!
Wow that's crazy yeah thanks man
They say bad luck comes in 3s, what with your tipper, white truck and Colin handing his notice in. Let’s hope you have a run of good fortune now. 👍🏻
So true!
That's one way to rustproof a truck. ☑️
💯
Nice u can do ur own work. U save lots of money that way. Thanks for the video Mike, damn u hope things improve and make this last week of stress feel worth it.
For sure
Dang Boss Man it's been a bad week!!! Good start on recovery!!!!
Thanks man
Good job on the hydraulic hose repair. I like the white gmc service truck with all those compartments, is there a warranty on the tranny? Man you need some help, you got to get mico back, is that an option.
No options
Mike like you said it could have been worst, also just a little tip I use Dawn detergent even on my rims on my truck cause the engine gunk tire cleaner is not good but just FYI. Well glad to see you are doing ok take care my friend stay safe god bless.
Yes my water container that I fill is full of dawn !
Get one of those foam cannons for your pressure washer they work great for grease and oil removal.
Thanks
Hey just found your channel through dirt perfect, good videos. When you gotta clean hydro fluid again buy spray nine. Been using it on aluminum rims, paint ,and plastic for years. Stuff is great a great degreaser .
Hey thanks for coming over and yeah I'll look that stuff up appreciate it
Dang dude! I hate that you're having such bad luck, but as you've said, it could have been a lot worse. It seems like when it rains, it pours. Just be safe.
BTW, use Dawn dish washing soap through your pressure washer to remove all the oil. It works pretty good.
Yes I put Dawn in my water tote always when I fill it..
If you are networked with someone who does professional pressure washing / soft washing, they can get that fluid off no problem by down streaming a good degreaser on that. If I was close I would come do it. Or by a good degreaser at a big box store and try dropping a tube in the bottle and hook it onto your injector on your hot water unit. It will melt right off.
Thanks buddy
Is there a specific way to bleed the air out on these?
Yes go to the top of the piston in the back of the dump truck in the dog house there should be a cover open that up you will see a little screw Port you can usually do with your hand open it up just like bleeding brakes
Happened to me TODAY in my frameless end dump. Hose blew
Dang Dirt Boss. It's always something that happens with equipment. Part of the job. Good luck.
Yes it is got to accept it
Nice fix.
Thanks
Yeah, you can never be to safe in that giant mouse trap, for sure. I had a box scare last week also. Picked up a new to me tandem and got home with it and run the box up to grease it. After I finished, got in to drop the box and kicked the pump in down position and nothing, monkeyed with it a bit and jerked the pump back in up position, thinking, what if the oil is returning? Jumped out on the fuel tank and that was just enough movement and bam, she dropped three of the four scopes, needless to say, I needed to change shorts. You better clean that one up, she's a pretty one!!!
Yeah that's scary
Great job. Like the repair videos
Thanks
Dawn Dish soap on oil clean up on truck works great
Yes that's what I have in my water tote
if the hose blows again... put a 45 swivel on the top end.. so the hose can lay in their flat and the 45 will attach to the swivel block instead of bending the hose. .
Yes for sure
Yes for sure
Go to brindle MTN there is a 2001 Pierce Kenworth rescue truck it's a great truck might work for you
10/4
On a positive note all that oil everywhere will help neutralize any road salt hiding on that pretty truck.
💯
Thanks for another great video 👍
Welcome
Kind of suprised that there is not a restriction orifice to prevent an uncontrolled drop should a hose blow.
Well then it wouldn't lower down normally
Man I love that truck
Thanks
It’s free rustproofing ! 😉
💯
That sucks bud hope your luck turns around. Just be thankful it wasn’t the ram. I’ve had to replace my brothers on his tri-axle twice now and it is a nightmare.
Yes I know I replaced mine and got it repacked on the Sterling I had That was a sketchy job trying to do that by yourself..
@@DIRT-BOSS yeah my Cheap scape brother Got a used one for (free) and that was blow too . So I had to take that out also . 🤦♂️. I welded D-rings in the front of the body because his paint job was already crap
All things considered.. and after you fixed it, I bet you thinking how lucky you are it was only a blown hose. Looking forward to your next vid when you are "back on site!!"
Agreed
Glad it was just a hose and it wasn't loaded I've seen them break the frame in half when they blow loaded
Yeah I definitely got lucky we're talking less than 5 seconds made all the difference in the world
they do make fittings that L shape that could be added in so the hose in not so close to the franme
Yeah all the '90s I've seen are too big
Damn you got lucky in the unluckiest of ways. Cannot imagine that happening on pavement in the city
Tell me about it
Is the Dirt Boss under water again??
Good video.
Thanks
Another great vid
Thanks buddy
Don’t wast your money on that expensive Gunk stuff. Go to the dollar tree store and get some of the soap that is called Awesome. It’s a clear yellow looking substance. It cleans well and you won’t be disappointed and it doesn’t brake the bank.
Got ya thanks
Hey Mike why don’t you get a cab and chassis setup and keep your box off the dead truck???? Oh too I heard you were going to a show down south with the other UTUBERS????? Are you going?????
Yeah I thought it about that but the box isn't in the best shape Yes I will be at the show!
Try a little purple power with Dawn soap with water
10/4
First of all… good luck Collin! I wish you well in school.
Boss, those radiator hoses should do the trick! I was curious about your thoughts on using webbed chafe guard. (The stuff that looks like Chinese finger cuffs.) I bought enough to cover every hose on my grapple and loader. Do you not like to use it?
Now that you removed all your rust protection, are you gonna have to have an under coating? LOL
I know it definitely would help with the rust
I'd come work for you, look at all the sweet, sweet gear!
Thanks
Buddy! may be its in a packing seal leaking. From Philippines.
No keep watching it's the line!
A while back I had a 5 gallon can of diesel in the back of my truck. Hit the brakes and what a mess. The stain is probably still in the bed of the truck 20 years later lol.
Lol
Hey Mikey Mike back on site... how can I get in touch with you buddy?
mike@tcmalbany.com
How about a walk-in rescue truck on a Kenworth
Not sure
Crap that sucks bud. If it weren't for luck we would have no luck at all.
Yup
how about just lifting off the box off of the other service truck and just buying the bottom half new or used
I've been trying nothing around me I've been even looking to travel to get one hard market right now

😂
D-Boss! what a nightmare, unbelievable that mess all over the kenworth! I got a good one for ya, had my buddy running loads with his triaxle mack with an aluminum body, he’s a big gate slapper, anyhow by the end of the day on his last load he’s putting it up and i’m right behind the body and i’m like geez that body is high, next thing i know it’s coming over at me and my helper so i hustle up and tackle my guy out of the way, that body went right over and came down upside down and never made a sound! oil shooting everywhere, big gate slap broke the cylinder free from the body, only a little weld ring held it together…don’t be a gateslapper! we still clown on him about that.
Wow that's crazy what a story !!
@@DIRT-BOSS D-Boss! here’s another one! i’m doing pavers at a shore house after Sandy and i have to bust the concrete out around the house so i’m using the hydraulic hammer on my mini and when i’m done i noticed oil speckled on the vinyl siding and the owner’s said something, i tell them no problem i’ll get the simple green on it, the “stuffs organic “, it didn’t work! so i walk to the truck and grab a jug and a rag and told my guy to use this and wipe the side of the house down, the homeowners were like “that’s beautiful it looks brand new”…what do you think i used?
That big block would just shoot out if that box came down.
I get it It was a joke

True
I always found it amazing how some people love to work in total filth. I guess water and high pressure washers don't work where they are.
Just saying...
Got to keep it clean
I would have left that oil under the bed! Rust prevention!
I hear you there its still soaked in the metal I think should be good I just can't stand all the dripping and when you go down the road it will get into the brakes
Hydraulics can be a pain in the arse!!!
