Really nice that you go outside the US too. You should look into a older Iveco with the big 17.2L twin turbo V8. Those are beasts that can handle 3000+hp on a stock block. They are used in truckpullers in The Netherlands.
Iveco 17.2 is just Fiat-Cummins based engine, basicly just 17.2 Cummings...

Long exhaust on a Scania V8 (straight pipe) makes the best sound, best sounding truck ever. Much love from Sweden!
The V8 Mack trucks in the United States have a very similar sound and that is because the Scania V8 is actually the Mack V8, the main difference is that the Scania version uses 8 individual cylinder heads and the original Mack version uses 4 cylinder heads.
straight piped big bore exhaust semi trucks sound stupid as fuck. all diesels sound the same with wide diameter exhaust. just like every v6 sounds the exact same with exhaust
@@RobJohn80 The DS14 litre was based on the second generation Mack V8s. Mainly the bottom end. This is the DS16 in this truck, which has nothing in common with the old DS14 except the layout and amount of cylinders. Also a big difference is that the DS16 is commonrail, while the DS14 was not. Mack and Scania had a long partnership, starting with Scania licenseproducing the Mack C50 Transit Coaches, but with a Scania Inline 8 cylinder D820 instead of the lanova END 672 pre chamber diesels Mack stuck in them. Mack in turn took the new for the time, highly advanced and efficient Direct Injection system, and implemented that on the END 672 and later 673 Thermodyne diesel. This was back in the 50s, way before any of the manufacturers started building V8s

I just love the fact that an American is open minded enough to see how a european truck is the absolute pinnacle of trucks. Nothing in America can compete with a Scania

Both types of trucks have their pros, cons, and uses. After driving both, I can say that I prefer long nose (American) trucks for long haul and offroad usage, cab overs/Euro trucks for in town stuff and local jobs.

@@AC_85I’ll take my 3406/C-15’s/6NZ cats ANY DAY over these. Anything pre emmisions CAT are bulletproof. I just did an overhaul at 1.2 million miles on a 3406b turned up to 550 on my 379 tandem. Little bit of blowby and a few leaks but it still ran hard and made money every day.

Scania started with turbo in the 50ies. Scania helped SAAB with their first turbos.
996hp 3441lb-ft OMG On a Cat or a Cummins you need a lot more power to get that torque, not to mention all the modifications you need to make.
To increase the torque, the piston must travel a bit longer inside the cylinder, but not by much, a half an inch or so.
You chrome bling bling under cab, Bruce😂😂😂, I’ve owned two of em here in Australia, 580hp boosted up to 650hp and a 730hp up to 800hp, awesome trucks
I see a lot of Scnaias pullling B-Doubles up and down the Hume as well as out of Shepparton. They are a nice truck. I got my first Scania action when I went on a trip with my StepFather from Melbourne to Sydney and back in the early 90s when he drove Mitchells Transport Scania. This was the days before the Cullarin Ranges were bypassed and my Stepfather virtually had that old Scania "sideways" through the Cullarin Ranges.....real rectum puckering stuff! Those Scanias can get up and boogie!

Honestly I like the big turbo and big injectors I work for scania in the UK and we do similar jobs on some trucks but in my opinion you need to get bend pipes put on to get the v8 bang and the smoke

One firm that i work for 20 years ago get me a 143H with 450 marine engine can say lots of high end cars was curious why I tagd along with them . Use the tourqe and jump gears you be amazed what it does .

Hey there, I’m a scania truck mechanic from Greece. I’m not into truck tuning but many of our customers tune these trucks and I know from a fact that those exhaust manifolds will not hold that kind of power
They will melt and crack like chocolat over the mont blanc 😂😂😂
That's why they're going to use water-methanol injection - to lower exhaust gas temperature.

Damn hell! Straight pipe Scania V8 sound is amazing. Add some insane rowdiness and just hearing it brings such goosebumps! I've seen couple companies run those (not sure about their inspections or if it's only almost-straight pipe honestly) on some of their trucks and it's just pure insanity to see/hear them pulling one of 'em heavy loads uphill. And you can hear them upfront long, long before they're even close. Like, literally miles away. But... Water-Methanol? Now *that*s insane.

We have a Scania 770 in our company. It's a beast... It would be interesting to see how much power it would be possible to get out of it.
For most people the sound of a Scania V8 means that a quality truck is approaching.
The IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) BAE Systems CV90 is powered by a Scania V8. (Latest version has a 1000hp one..) Currently in use in Ukraine.
The Combat boat CB90 has two..
So... For a Russian soldier the approaching roar of the 1000 cubic inch Swedish made, push-rod, V8 have a different meaning.

4000+nm and 1000hp at the engine is a number so insane for a semi truck you would think the dyno sheet is from an industrial diesel engine like a locomotive diesel.
