The drum sound on the studio version AND this live version, is brilliant. In fact, the drum sound and mix on all of the live performances I have seen videos of, is perfect. Whoever mixed their sound and especially captured the drums (and whoever tuned them) is genius.
These days we’ve got Terry Goldberg killin it on audio. This specific mix was done by The Master. Mr. Eddie Caipo. I worked with him for years with Smash Mouth as well as Enrique Iglesias. He’s one of THE best engineers out there hands down.

I'm excited to see what more stuff you guys are gonna get up to with Zach Goode at the helm, and I wish Steve the best with his life.

There was a live album that came out last year through Sony. Really cool actually. Other than that, touring a lot...but tbh, I've been really busy with Enrique Iglesias and I've been missing shows with the guys. Hoping to do some more with them soon :-)

The instruments are mixed well- its the vocals. Sounds like they aren't really compressed or seated well at all in the mix. It sounds more like a guy singing in his car over the track from his speakers

Lol, sure- send me the stems from the live session and Ill mix the vocals a lot better than this. I am from Massachusetts. Like I said, the instruments sound really good- but it sounds like there might not be a high enough low cut and not enough compression on the vocals- it makes it sound like the vocals are just louder than everything, rather than being seated and CUTTING/punching through the mix. Their live mixers on some of their other live performances of this song sound a lot more pleasing to their and you can still hear the vocals clearly. P.S. Im not listening to this on an iphone or anything- Im in my treated studio w/ solid jbl monitors

this was huge when it came out. But all star was one of those rare instances when a song blows up.

Although, our sound engineer mixed in Stereo and they summed it up to mono. So, that might be what you don't like.
