no one deserved the statue more than billy fury great singer songwriter guitarist and a real nice man his legacy lives on with his wonderfull music thanks larry i did not know his brother had died reunited now god bless them both
Gorgeous Billy Fury. He still had a beautiful voice even though he was very unwell. I think he sadly passed several days after this.... Televised production. Great looking statue. He deserved to be remembered as a great Rock n Roller. He wrote most of his own songs at a time when most singers didn't. Very talented and known to be a ery sweet and gentle man. G-D BLESS YOU BILLY you are missed very much. Xxxxx ❤️💕❤️💕❤️
A beautiful song from a great guy whom I met on a few occasions back in the 70s and first saw in concert back in 62.sadly missed. Rog .Pacific sunset records
Love Billy he was amazing singer and a gorgeous looking man such a nice guy godbless u Billy we still love u and miss you never be another Billy fury ✌️ rip🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🇬🇧🇬🇧🎸🕺🎸💓💓💓💓
I will always regret not getting to The Sunnyside for what turned out to be Billy's last gig. I couldn't get a lift over the few miles away from my home. With 20/20 hindsight, I would have ran!
Singer PETER WYNNE who toured with Billy in 1960/61 and also Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Silver Beetles etc, is doing a gig Feb 26th 2013 at Pocklington Arts Centre,York, loads of stories to tell, new CD out too.
Albie Wycherley, Billy's younger brother, who is interviewed in this clip died on 5th September 2011, aged 68. Jimmy Savile, who is also interviewed, died just over a month later on 29th October 2011, just two days before his 85th birthday.
THE 170460...im sure pal, along with a lot more folk,Johnny Kidd was good along with Vince, but Fury was cool, rode a Triumph etc,and churned out some classic tunes along the way, before L.Parnes got him singing crap..So im sure..????
That's crazy, so many people in England became enamored by an obvious Elvis copy cat. This is another testament to Elvis's world wide cultural influence, a whole nation that was deprived of Elvis's presence in their country embraced an imitation.
Really..... Billy could write a song for a start and had a better vocal range than Presley although I will admit to the obvious influence Presley had on most at the time. Billy was just different and in a league of his own.
@@warrendelay Elvis couldn't change his vocal style whilst Billy could. I like a lot of Elvis's material especially early stuff and rate him very highly. Billy was just better. Listen to "Because of Love". Billy's version outclasses Presleys.
@@stevenmorris8325 LOL Elvis couldn't change his vocal style????? are you kidding?? You obviously have not listened to more than a few of his songs, Elvis is legendary FOR his vocal versatility. But now that it's clear you have no knowledge of Elvis's musical catalog and vocal abilities it explains your ridiculous statements.
You commented on a clip that showed Billy singing a song he wrote himself when he was 17/18 years of age. Send me a link of Presley doing the same and I'll bow down to your superior knowledge but won't hold my breath.
+Griffith Harland , Most of them hadn't had heart surgery in their 20s you muppet, he wasn't fit enough. He was ill as a child with rheumatic fever and would never have passed the medical.
Good point, although Billy had heart problems, strange how he could manage to work on the tug boats which is hard work though. None of the Beatles, Joe Brown, Marty Wilde, Shane Fentone, Johnny kid, plus most other pop stars who were old enough to get called up did either. Terry Dene is the only british pop star of the late 50s and 60s who ever got called up to serve and he refused to go and quite rightly branded a coward. I know it was a lottery so to speak, but it's pretty strange that they all seem to have avoided being called up. It's like once you'd made it big you were immune to being drafted. Half of the male members of my family aged over 70 seemed to have been drafted and served in the military.

Britain's best ' Rocker ', a wondeful, timeless song,a truly great man taken far too young.

THAT MONSTER SAVILE JUST SPOILED THIS.
Why was he buried in londo nand not in his hometown
He attended Joe Brown's mothers funeral in London and commented how nice the place was. That's what I was told.
Billys in london while his mum and bros in liverpool .why.
He lived in St John's Wood with his partner. Also had a farm in Wales.
London centre music scene most probably

@@stevenmorris8325 A better vocal range Than Elvis??? That's hilarious. That absurd statement alone discredits your opinion.
