Now these are mostly just conspiracies, but this is most likely what happened: - Saudi Arabia began work on Jeddah Tower and boasted on beating the Burj Khalifa's record. Dubai didn't stand back, and proposed an even taller "tower". - 2017-19 Saudi Arabian purge: many wealthy people are arrested. This includes investors for Jeddah Tower. So, work on Jeddah Tower ceases. - Dubai has all the money to go on with it, however since the Jeddah Tower stopped, there is no more competition. So Creek Tower also ceases. - HOWEVER one of the MAIN reasons was that if you look at the international standard for a "skyscraper", there should be a minimum of around 50 floors or so. This requirement was not met by the Creek Tower, and it did not have enough livable floors. Hence, it would be considered a "tower" or "structure", but would not be considered the Tallest Building or Tallest Skyscraper. Hence they had to put a full stop to the entire project, since it would not benefit them in any way. - The above point fully explains the reason for the redesign. - Since Jeddah Tower work just restarted, EMAAR too wants to restart. It has actually just look how the Burj khalifa transform Dubai into the largest economic financial trading and tourism hub in the eastern hemisphere. Ranked the third in the best cities overall with a revenues reached 3 trillion dollar . Ranked the fifth most powerful city . I think it was cancelled for 2 reasons: (1) structure: a similar broadcast mast in Poland (tallest structure in the world at one point) was stabilized by cables + actually collapsed from the wind. (a sink-hole under one of those cables could bring that thing down.) (2) financial: not enough habitable space to turn a profit.

I was shocked about hearing creek tower because I never expected another tower too be taller than burj khalifa and EVEN JEDDAH TOWER I mean Dubai what’s happening 😂
All these mega projects are silly ambitions of a vain and sick society. Car culture, mega buildings, city planning with no regard for real infrastructure, its a really tacky world we live in. The Dubai Creek Tower would not be considered a skyscraper due to it not being free standing and the habitable floor space in relation to the total height being under 50%.

Great video. but the Dubai creek tower was never designed as a skyscraper it was designed as an observation tower. and based on the amount of floors it could also not call it itself a skyscraper. I don’t see the practicality of such a tall skyscraper
It has actually just look how the Burj khalifa transform Dubai into the largest economic financial trading and tourism hub in the eastern hemisphere. Ranked the third in the best cities overall with a revenues reached 3 trillion dollar . Ranked the fifth most powerful city . The city become a global attraction of investors the rich ones the tourist form anywhere on earth . Dubai now is the second most connected city on the planet you can have the access from almost any airport on the planet with the help of Emirates airlines one of the best and most successful and richest airlines.
Dubai is so petty trying to out do Saudi Arabia. Literally no other reason for Dubai Creek Tower except to be taller than the Jeddah Tower. Vanity of vanity. I'm guessing Dubai will start tricking more people into modern slavery....

I think it was cancelled for 2 reasons: (1) structure: a similar broadcast mast in Poland (tallest structure in the world at one point) was stabilized by cables + actually collapsed from the wind. (a sink-hole under one of those cables could bring that thing down.)
(2) financial: not enough habitable space to turn a profit.

600 + m towers are just novelties... Last 150 m or so of the burj kalifah is un used space.... This tower would be just the same or worst... Makes no sense
