Can I just say how much I love Jamie Dantzscher's floor routine. 💖💖 That triple twist...so epic! So glad she went to college so we could see her beyond elite. So many at these championships went onto college teams and rocked it.👏👏👏👏
This is the year that began my fascination with Vanessa Atler, Jamie Dantzscher, and the Rybackis. It was my favorite quad because of those people, I loved all of them. Vanessa was such an amazing talent and Jamie was no slouch either. I would have taken the Comaneci out after this Nationals and tried to come up with something else that would make Vanessa feel less frantic. Throughout that quadrennium her vaults changed, her beam skills changed, and she got new tumbling passes that suited her better, but she never got a bar routine that suited her better.
Thank you for uploading this and the other older competitions! It's interesting to see Mohini Bhardwaj here and to think that in seven years that she would make an Olympic team.
How is Maloney a "new face" when she was competing as a Senior the year before and even qualified for Olympic Trials I think but Atler wasn't a new face?
Vanessa should’ve gone to the olympics In my opinion. She adds so much strength to vault and floor for the Americans. The beam dismount at the trials was a one time thing, but she added so much more depth on floor and vault I thought that would put her in the team but nope.
I think it was bars that really got her. I feel like she would have had a better chance if she had taken out the commaneci but I agree that she still should have gone. She was pretty solid everywhere else and I know the US struggles on bars but there were others that were solid enough on it
Unfortunately she could not prove it to the selection committee at the trials. She would not have made much of a difference for the Olympic team. The outcome would have been the same if not worse.
Kristy Powell’s bars were so trend setting! First time I’d seen someone do two consecutive releases like that on the high bar. It’s a shame she didn’t get to the Olympics.
Lindsey wing doesn’t look well. Not sure I don’t know her story. Lots of power there though, surprisingly. Also anyone notice how great Jamie’s dance is? No one talks about it but she was almost a better dancer than Vanessa.
when i go back and look at all of these now.......i think about the abuse they all received....disgusting.....i can't get it out of my mind....these poor girls

K. Powell's face when running toward the vault is so ugly. Seems like she would've worked on that a little. I mean, this is artistic gymnastics, not cage fighting.

2 minutes and 10 seconds of pretty weird stuff in the beginning. Sounds like a bad 80s song. I mean music of the 90s was never that bad!
