Hi excellent review and talk through if not the very best I've currently found, would you still recommend this 2023 please over much cheaper internet conected stations like eccowit etc.

Very good video. I got this model a couple of months ago. It was rated very good and even though it wasn't the cheapest out there, I'm glad I got it. I did add the Weather Link Live component so it can be monitored on the smart phone app or online. As a side note, there are around 5 or 10,000 units online on the web site. That shows how popular these are.

2.5 seconds is for wind speed and direction only. The refresh rate is longer for all other sensors but still better than most of the competition

Have you encountered any problems with the Vue console and outdoor ISS thus far 18 November 2020. There have been many negative reviews as to the quality and failings especially with the Vue! It seems in contrast that the Pro2 is a better build and less problematic. But that's at a cost most can ill afford.
Can you upload a non-biased review to show the condition of your consoles and outdoor stations. Normally most problems normally occur much later. 😊
We all appreciate the update 😊👍 Thank you for your excellent informative videos. 👍👍👍👍

Hi, I had one unit (2nd hand) on which the barometer failed, another one (also 2nd hand) on which the humidity was stuck at 100% but the one which I have had from brand new has been absolutely faultless. The Pro2 console is good but not a huge step up in features / visual display (you can't see a 'live wind speed' graph for example which I liked on the Vue). It does have a current conditions, alarm and forecast ticker though which is quite cool. The VP2 ISS itself is much better in terms of being upgradable with added UV, solar, soil moisture, leaf wetness sensors etc. but the other core measurements seem very close between both ISSs. Hope that helps! :-)

Have you ever checked out Instromet weather stations, they got add-ons that can be used with the vp2. Best UK quality ever 👍👍👍 6 choices of wood. A must see! Enjoy!

Useful Video thanks. I will be installing my weather station on the roof should be lots of fun with lots of opportunity to fall off ladders etc. Regards Chris

Looks smart, but at 5 times the price of my Watson W-8681, it doesn't offer much else, other than the solar panel. I think I paid around £120 when I bought mine.

Hi Marcus, it depends what you are looking for in a weather station really, the Watson is indeed a good starter model but reliability and longevity have been an issue for me (sensor dropouts have plagued mine and also the same issue with the Oregon I owned, particularly from the rain gauge!) The Vantage Vue updates the wind speed far more frequently too (around 2.5s) which for me was a major requirement as my oregon and watson tended to miss the biggest gusts. The temperature reading was also much closer to the local Met Office station which was interesting. The Vue console can also be used with the VP2 Instruments enabling access to the UV and solar sensors as well as other additional sensors if required. The cost is certainly a major consideration but the reliability and data transmission have been faultless so far. How do you turn off the console?

  • @terrydanks

    Had to reply to CopperCettle's comment . . .
I want a console! I do NOT want to be tied to a PC or smart phone app! I have already rejected some wx station candidates precisely because they fail to offer a console!
That said, this Davis display looks very dated, It also fails to display wind gusts.
I'm still looking for a station that meets my requirements. The Davis comes close but that console really needs updating . . . and should display peak gusts in real time!

I know what you mean regarding the wind gusts - it updates every 3 seconds which is better than many weather stations but still not ideal!

My console loses outside temp. data after dark. I have installed the correct back up battery every 4 months and it gets expensive. I wish I could troubleshoot this unit more. Any body know what could be the problem. I have cleaned the glass on the solar sensor also.

Hi, that's strange to hear, sounds like it could be a battery compartment problem, in terms of the batteries themselves are they rated for cold conditions, eg lithiums? Have you double checked the battery terminals incase of corrosion etc? Other than that maybe contact Davis for advice? Cheers and good luck!

    • @PubSheds
      @PubSheds  2 года назад

I should have asked, is it just temperature data it loses at night?

  • @CopperCettle

That console looks very flimsy to me,(it moves around every time you press any of the buttons) Why doesn't Davis just make a usb plugin for a Windows computer that communicates with the ISS, and displays all the info on your computer screen , all that weather data would look so much better and be easier to read on a 32 inch computer screen.

Hi, thanks for your comment, the console itself is surprisingly sturdy, particularly when wall mounted. The interface is quite dated though, like something from the 1980s! I would be keen to see another updated console released but they are increasingly switching to the usb / weatherlink interfaces. Have you seen the weatherlink live? It allows you to monitor all conditions online or via mobile phone app without the need for a console and it can support multiple stations and / or external sensors: ruclips.net/video/1dmEn_mTTnY/видео.html
