I love seeing dancers practice. Their movements are so beautiful that you realize they do not need fancy costumes or a stage to show their talent.
Simply beautiful. The dancers, the music, the technique. Just wonderful. Thank you for 2 minutes of bliss.
This is one "inspired" video. Beautiful work. A collage of creativity and power. I will always be in awe of the raw "black and white" quality of the studio. The intimacy is there. The feeling that you can almost reach out and "touch" dance . I feel that choreography that brings you in to a sense of the studio is ultimately the most powerful.... kind of like the old jazz venues of the 50's and 60's......
oh i get sentimental watching this and being young and in ballet class . turning and jumping and being prescise an having fun at the same time. so great to see
@sablebaby The music is actually a piece composed by one of our dancers, William Lin-Yee!
Those feet, that extension, those pirouettes, that dedication... such inspiration!
I'm not a dancer of any kind. But I love watching ballet dancers prep before dancing. The shoe thing (stretching them, banging against floor), tape around toes, stretching. It really shows how much works is put into this. I probably sound dumb saying all this but whatever.
Doesn't sound dumb at all =) I did ballet for eight years and I LOVE that sort of behind the scenes stuff too, I love it more than the performances themselves. The sparkly tutu's on stage are pretty and all but I love that raw rugged type of sweat, blood, and tears ballet you see behind the scenes much better, the power and beauty of the art speak for themselves even more I think when all the glitz is taken away.
@onpointe96 Yes there is! This song is called "Medio-Core" and the link to it can be newly found in the description above!

very,very good!!!
Beautiful...makes me want to go do some pirouettes.
this is were i will audition to go next year :)
@crystaliclake- not a trend, lol, many adv. and prof. dancers have been doing this since the mid 1980's during class and rehersal b/c it keeps the leo from moving into some rather uncomfortable places if you get my drift ;-) Not having to tug the leotard back into place all day long is a big bonus ( we don't much care nor have time to worry about fashion while working in studio) as it allows us to focus on actually dancing and not our gear.
Could you please upload another one of these videos. I watch this one all the time!! =D
ohhhhhh!that makes soooo much more sense to me!thank you!
@crystaliclake It's just more comfortable and more flattering (for the legs... gusset not so much but we don't care).
@natashawashy The reason you see this in most all prof. ballet company video clips of this type is b/c "undergarments" are not practical at this elite level. We need complete freedom of movement. We care only about dancing well & not interested in making a fashion statement. While in studio, it is rare to be seen by anyone who isn't either a real dancer or very familar with our art form. So quite frankly we could care less if our tights look weird to non dancers. Stage is a differnt story ;-)
Okie dokie! I just always figured that that was how they MUST be worn. It was wierd for me to see them outside the leotard. (By the way, I dance, but my studio is pretty strict with what we wear.)
Ah, ballet. It makes life worth living. Can anyone tell me what song this is? Beautiful...
@TheDanceAttitude We are working on it... the next one will feature jumping!
Y'all are overly amazing!
yeah lindsey!! arlington's own . . the DMV(district of colombia maryland and virginia rules)
ugh... i feel like i will NEVER get decent pirouettes. i wish there was some secret trick. LOL!!
I dance too but can someone please explain to me the women's trend for wearing see-through tights OVER the bodysuit, especially tights with a gusset (that patch on the crotch)some even wear the tights inside out which makes the gusset even more obvious than it already is?
@crystaliclake I agree with angelpink .Would you perform on stage with your mini pad showing for all the world too see? At this level I would think class would be taken more seriously
i think it started in partnering classes. Sometimes when one is lifted, the leotard would ride up, resulting in a wedgie, and you would either have to pull it out (awks) or eave it stuck in there (even more awks) for the rest of class. Tights over the leotard keeps it in place. I guess the trend followed after that, but it does have a use
@crystaliclake I think it's because it makes your legs look longer. And it's possibly more convenient...
YES..it seems very perfectly attuned to the movement...although it does not hold much musical interest on its own.for me Good job, never the less.
actually, PNB has a video of it's summer intensive students in partnering class and every one of the girls has her tights over her leotard :D
looks fun and hard:)
Does anyone know the title to the newer company class the one with Sarah and it shows the space needle? Thanks:)
+Matt Fothergill That was our contribution to World Ballet Day 2015, which means it was only available for viewing for two months.
@crystaliclake I dance as well and I think its tacky and nasty. I think someone was rushing one day and put it on and other people saw it and thought it was cool and there you go another lame trend lol
Woooooow!!! Is it just me, or is it that almost ALL of the videos of professionals in class happen to show them (the ladies) wearing their tights outside their leotards (or whatever they happened to have worn)? Whatever happened to good old UNDERgarments? :|
0:49 pretty feet!
