    Anna, could you show us in one of your videos how to properly place the hand under the lamp? I’m not sure I know how to do it and probably I’ve been doing it wrong all my life 😊 Thank you for another great video! Your clients are so lucky to have you. Such attention to detail, it’s obvious you care for their nails to get healthier over time, not only to look prettier. I wish I could find a professional like you where I live now. And what a gorgeous color! 😍

    Like everyone else, I so appreciate your sharing so much nail knowledge with us. I’ve binge watched your videos. I’m sure you’ve mentioned it, but I can’t find it - what number grit/board do you use when trimming and smoothing nails/nail edges with a board file? I didn’t see that on your Amazon page, either. Or I missed it. More likely! I like to have boards/blocks to occasionally use as alternatives to metals. Thank so much!

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад

      Hello :) You are very welcome!
      The metal file I use is about 150 grit and after a while it becomes about 180 I think.
      For disposable files I recommend 180 grit for shortening, shaping the nails or 240.
      As a buffer block I gently use 220 block (yellow)

    Her nails look fantastic! What a transformation! Is it best to wrap the free edge the same way you did in this video using shellac when using dazzle dry? let the coat dry then apply polish to the free edge? there are times when the polish pulls away from the free edge with dazzle dry too.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад +1

      Hello Judith, I wrap the free edge with Dazzle Dry right after. Gel polish doesn't really dry as you are applying it, until you expose it to UV light. When you are polishing the polish is setting as you are going so no need to dry more.

    I love watching the transformation videos. Your approach to being gentle is so wonderful. I wish the nail technicians in my area were more like you. I have ridges due to my mature age, and the over buffing just ruins them. I also have fairly strong nails, and I like them on the longer side, but I am curious why I get the cracks at the white line. I use jojoba oil and lotion all the time and warm oil soaks every week. So I'm curious if you have a video about that. Thanks so much for your fabulous content. 😊

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад

      Hello Shannon, thank you so much for your kind message!
      Yes, buffing nails just removes layers weakening the nail. You are getting the cracks in the stress area? Where the white part meets the pink part and even in the pink part? When did you start doing the warm oil soaks?
      I also offer individual advice :) www.thesalonlife.ca/services

    • @shannonjackson8156
      @shannonjackson8156 Год назад

      @The Salon Life Yes, I get these nasty cracks where the pink and white meet. I've been doing warm oil soaks for about 6 months, and I love it. I just don't know why I get the small cracks when my nails get a bit long. I also go by the "nails are not tools" rule. Haha.

    Anna , would you explain in one of your upcoming videos on what pressure to use when filing nails ? I use the nail files you suggested and oiling the nails after each handwashing but still have peeling. I am beginning to think I am filing with too much pressure. Thank you

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад

      Peeling comes from the surface not from the end of the nails. Are your nails flexible? I mean you can bend them easily?

    • @sherrymahan3721
      @sherrymahan3721 Год назад

      @@TheSalonLife I keep my nail very short , so i cannot say if my nails are bendy. I do weekly oil soaks also . I notice if I keep my nails painted for a period of time , this is when I have the most peeling . I keep filing the edge of the nail when i notice any peeling so this is why my nails are very short .

    I haven't mastered the efile yet and filed down too close on my own nails 😅
    I'll stick with soaking and using the silicone covers for now 😂

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад +1

      Nothing wrong with soaking off. I've been using e-file for 20 years and I still would not use e-file to remove a product completely unless I have to (if it's a hard gel which does not soak off).
      I've seen way too much damage. If you are using e-file to remove the color then you have to first apply thicker layer of gel (not just a thin base coat) so you can file off the color without filing into the nail.

      Hi MariLu. Not everything that is natural is safe and healthy and not everything synthetic is bad for you. Everything other than light and electricity is a chemical, even water is a hydrogen and oxygen.

    Now i am a little confused. Also shellack has loads of HEMA in it. If the nails are damaged i thought we should not use allergenic products or do you use hema free only? Thanks Anna🥰 oh and this color is BOMB on her but also just on it's own😍😍😍🤩

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  Год назад

      Hi Cornelia. CND Shellac does not actually contain HEMA. Many products do and used properly HEMA is OK, the widespread problem is improper use and some formulations might simply have too much HEMA.
      I talked about it in the most recent video with this client.
      Her nails have some damage but the nails are not thinned out and I would not be afraid to use HEMA containing product made by a reputable company insuring that there is no skin contact.
      Let's not demonise ingredients (chemicals).
      1 glass of wine every so often is ok for most people.
      Getting drunk and driving is NOT good.
      You can't blame alcohol for accidents. It's excessive use of alcohol and reckless behaviour that leads to harm.

Sometimes it is easier to get informations in your main language but i think it wont happen. Also nobody explains WHY ( for example) cheap chinese products are bad ( sure cheap and bad chfmicals but WHAT EXACTLY) and what is " good". For what to look in the industrie??
