How to Make Waterproof Stickers on a Cricut | Die Cut Stickers with Cricut Print and Cut
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 ноя 2024
- Follow along as we show you how to make die cut stickers with the new Cricut offset feature. That's right - Cricut now makes it easy to put an outline around your stickers with offset in Design Space. We used a laser printer to make our stickers, cut the stickers on the Cricut maker and then laminated our stickers to make them waterproof stickers.
Making waterproof stickers may seem daunting, but it's not with the Cricut. Whether you have the Cricut Explore Air 2 or the Cricut Maker, you can easily make die cut stickers that are waterproof. And while we use a laser printer to make our print and cut stickers, you can also use an inkjet printer. The key to making stickers waterproof is to laminate them with Oracal 651.

Hello friends! Since Cricut updated the Print Then Cut size and layout in 2023, we created an updated tutorial for you! There's a VERY important caveat about the news sizes that you don't want to miss. Check out the video here:

I've watched so many tutorials on making stickers with cricut, but yours is the FIRST one that actually made sense and walked through the steps. Thanks!
Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words. We’re so glad this is helpful!!
I agree. Clear and concise instructions. ❤
I have probably watched 10+ videos about how to make stickers and I want to share that the other 9 left me with too many questions (info overload) and not easy to follow. Your video was easy to listen to, clear instructions and to the point! I made my first stickers today and they turned out exactly as they were suppose to! New subscriber, THANK YOU!
Thank you! We appreciate such positive feedback. It's very nice to hear🤩
Finally, someone that explains it clearly! Thank you
We would recommend checking out our video with cricut's print then cut update

I didn't even think about turning the offset to basic cut and contouring. Thank you for that tip
Thanks so much for checking out our channel! Glad we could help!

Finally someone with a laser printer. More often than not, I
find inkjet supplies and I'm always so hesitant to stick something in my printer that may damage it... Thank you for the awesome tutorial!
Thank YOU for watching! We’re glad it’s helpful.
Vinyl Stickers, Laser Printer, and Laminate! This addresses my needs precisely. Thank you.
Awesome! We’re glad it’s helpful!
I so appreciate this video! I am brand new to Cricut-ing - I just got my Maker yesterday! - And this is one of the main things I wanted to do with it. I feel like I can start off with confidence! Thanks y'all!
We love you found this so helpful!
Since this video came out cricut updated their print then cut. You should also watch this

@@JustMightDIY Incredibly helpful! Thank you!
My husband draws little people and characters. I can't wait to make stickers with them. I have made a few from design space so I know most of what you showed but I have not used all of them, but now I know why you have to flatten them and how to use the contour feature. I have a feeling I will be subscribing to more than just Cricut Design Space. Just imagine!
Sounds like you're going to have so much fun. If you post any pictures on Instagram tag us @justmightdiy

Thanks so much and welcome to our channel! We’re glad this was helpful. 😄
Nice job, guys. Also, the clear listing for all the products and machines shown in the video was great. Thank you!
Thank you!
Hello friends,
Thank you for showing you how the labels are made. A detailed and beautiful narration. I also learned the cutting technique. Thank you for sharing. See you. I wish you have a nice weekend. Big greetings.
Thank you! So glad you learned a lot from the video. Have a great weekend!
BEST video I've ever watched regarding Cricut sticker DIY! Thank you so much
Thank you so much for such a great remark! And taking the time to check us out!
Thanks y’all! Starting my sticker journey!
Woo hoo! Good luck!
Absolutely the best video on Cricut sticker making I've found! Thank you!
Thank you so much! We’re glad it’s helpful. 😄
I've been wondering for quite a while now if the Oracal Vinyl could be used like this, but haven't been able to find anyone doing it. They all use the Avery kind, but I can't buy that atm, so THANK YOU! And all the other tips, just wonderful!
You’re welcome! So happy this was helpful for you. Thanks for the comment!
I've been having such a rough time with having my stickers cut all the way through BUT I think your video is my saving grace! I'll post an update by another comment to let you know how it goes, doing more today! YAY!
Oh yay! We hope this works out for you. Definitely let us know how it goes. 😄

Great video! Loved the easy going nature of y'all and your jokes!
Thank you!
For sticker cutting I choose brother scan and cut it’s really easy to use and you don’t waste any vinyl
That’s awesome to hear! Glad you have something that works well for you. 😉
I want to share a joke my 7 year told me: What did the coach say to the vending machine? Give me my quarter back.
Haha - that’s awesome! 🏈
Tell your boy that is HILARIOUS 😂😂☠️☠️

I’m just learning my new Cricut Explorer and this video helped me understand the process of making stickers and now I’ll be purchasing a laser printer soon. Thank you🌵👍🏼. Joke:Beware what you do in the garden….the corn has “EAR’S”,the potato has “EYE’S” and the bean “STALKS”😳.
Hahaha love the joke! And thanks so much for commenting - we’re glad it’s helpful!!
Thank you so much for updating this informative tutorial. I look forward to future ones. Also, does the new oracle laminated vinyl come in sheet or can you show how one would cut vinyl for laser printer (or if it can go through a laser printer). Thank you.
Hey! The clear laminate doesn’t go in the printer. Thanks for watching!
306 pressure and 2x cut with suggested materials - perfect. Thank you folks a bunch and Merry Christmas.
That's great, merry Christmas to you and yours as well! 🎄
@@JustMightDIY That Laminate, Oy Vey! Bubble, bubbles toil and trouble! You guys make it look easy. Perhaps a slo-mo video: here's how to do no bubbles. :)
It took a bit of practice. JZ is way better at it than I am. We will put that in our list of possible upcoming
@@JustMightDIY Thanks. This is my go-to channel for tutorials. I'm brand new to Cricut.
@@JustMightDIY After several attempts, I have finally mastered the dreaded bubbles using a twelve-inch ruler with a rounded edge. I took a little sandpaper to the edge of a wood ruler to produce a rounded, smooth side opposite the metal edge side. Apply light pressure. Zero bubbles on 8 1/2 x 11. Yahoo.
Fantastic tutorial. Thanks for taking the time to create it. I was able to follow right along - with a lot of help from the pause button and also the j, k, l keys > back up 10 seconds, pause, forward 10 seconds.
We're glad. We know it's a lot to do, but it gets easier every time!
@@JustMightDIY Indeed it does. Practice, practice.
P.S. I do post production video editing as a sideline. Your videos are smooth. What program do you use?
Yes! A tutorial for stickers with a laser printer, i have been searching for a video like this, thank you so much!
Yay! We’re glad you like it!! Thanks for watching. 😄
Started this thanks to y’all. I think I’m using too thick of a transparent vinyl, so I ordered the item y’all suggested.
Made community day Pokémon stickers.
Hey there! We’re so glad to hear the new laminate worked. Happy crafting! 🥳
Exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you so much for making it so easy. Just created my first 2 full sticker sheets in under 10 minutes with your help. Thanks again.
Oh yay! Thanks so much for letting us know. We’re so glad to hear that this worked for you. Happy sticker making!
@@JustMightDIY how do you get the kisscut?
@@whitney24100 Hey! You’d reduce the pressure. You will want to test this with small shapes until you find the exact settings for the materials you use. Hope this helps!
SUPER helpful!!! Thank you for the step by step with adding new material and cut options!!
Any suggestions when using high gloss sticker paper (pre-laminated) and getting the machine to read the registration lines? Unfortunately using matte scotch tape has never worked for me. thanks again!
Hey! We’re so glad you liked the video! Unfortunately, the Cricut sensor seems to be very finicky with the reflections from high gloss paper. We’d suggest using a different paper. Hope this helps!
Use a white crayon over the black lines, like coloring it, softly, it works well .
Loved this tutoriak- cleared up many questions- still have one more question- You used vinyl sticker paper to print on. I've seen this done with non vinyl sticker paper . Why would you use vinyl? Thanks
Thank you so much - we’re glad you enjoyed it! After testing a few different ones, we liked the quality of this particular sticker paper, and it also worked in our laser printer.
Awesome Video, just ordered the paper and laminate - will watch a few more times once they arrive! thanks!
Fantastic. Hope it goes well! Let us know
Great for indoors but might not last long in the elements if you try to sell your home made stickers. Sticker and graphic shops use specialty vinyl made for that type of use. Oracal 651 is vinyl not laminate, but you gotta work with what you got.
Thanks for watching. Oracal markets the product as a laminating vinyl and indicates that it's one of the thinnest on the market. We've been happy with our stickers. Thanks again!
You guys remind me of Hal and Joanne McCloud from back in the day! Great video! Entertaining to watch 😁 Thanks for sharing!

lol the most funniest quirkiest tutorial I've ever seen! Keep the jokes coming! Amazing info! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!! 😆
Thank you. I was tearing my hair out (actually I don't have any cos of Chemo :)) trying to work out how to do this. I was "attaching" but it was cutting out the letters as well. I have made sure I entered all the instructions in the project for when I have to do it again, cos I am sure I will forget. I didn't worry about the P&C size and layout, I just printed on A4 and adjusted the printer paper size, and DID NOT attach all the images and it just printed what was on the canvas. Do you have a video on what "weld" and "combine" etc is used for? (from Australia)
No, we don't have a video covering that. Most what we do doesn't cover features in programs but tutorials or plane Ole messing around. 😁
@@JustMightDIY no worries. Thank you
Great vid, mega useful!!! Thanks a lot for sharing guys and good luck! Cheers from Alberta- Canada!!!
Hi José from Alberta! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave great comment!
Wow I've just subscribed! You explained that so well and I really appreciate it! I wana make stickers for my kids 😊
Awesome! We’re so glad you like this. Thanks for watching and happy crafting!
Oracal 651 is a calendared (typically indoor) vinyl that UV light breaks down much quicker than Oracal 751. The Oracal 751, which is a professional cast film, will last for seven years in the Florida Sun. Considering the increased cost per decal is minimal, always use the Oracal 751.
Not to mention, removing the decal later is much easier because it does not rot or tear.
I hope this helps, :).
Great insight! We’ll give that a test for sure, as we’ve been asked about outdoor stickers before. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for so many great tips. I'm curious about the choice of laser printer. Pros: speed, image durability and toner cost? What about image quality compared to a good inkjet photo printer?
We did a sticker video using inkjet as well:
ruclips.net/video/ftK3rVee7XA/видео.html
Toner is probably more expensive per print with higher color sharpness but not by much. We were not disappointed with inkjet stickers at all. Hope this helps.
Hello, your video was extremely helpful! Would you all be able to provide the material selected and pressure type for cutting?!
Hello! Cut settings are in the video, and materials are listed in the description! Hope this helps.
Did you find that these hold up over time and stay waterproof? Great tutorial!
Hello! Yes! These have held up REALLY well. Thanks for asking and for watching!
Thank you do much for this video! I had trouble with my stickers curling and once I got to the end of this video, I was like there it is. Do you all have any tips or fixes for stickers that have already curled?
Hey! We’re so glad this was helpful. Wish we had some good fixes for ones that already curled, but we haven’t run into that. Maybe try setting them under something really heavy overnight…
@@JustMightDIY thank you

Loved the video!!! Some edges of my stickers are kinda rough, even after a new blade. Any tips?
Thanks so much! We haven’t had rough edges. Maybe try adjusting the pressure. Not sure if more or less would fix it, but that’s what we would try to play with!
Wow!!!! Could you show us how to make personalised stickers?

I've got the Brother Scan N Cut 125e and a color laser printer as well. Nice to see some steps in your video that carry over to my setup. How much are you spending on the OraCal laminate sheet? You might like the 3 types of lamination cartridges for the 900 series (9 inch) Xyron cold press lamination machine.
* Full lamination both sides
* Lamination + Adhesive (for making laminated stickers)
* Lamination + Magnet (only 10 feet of material due to thickness of magnet material)
Their lamination material is marketed as an archival, UV, pH neutral film that will not peel or separate once you cut into it. So you can use it to make custom cut shapes, to seal precious documents, make pool or aquarium art, decorative chew toys for your little fur baby, waterproof and fade proof magnetic art or puzzles for the fridge, vehicle, etc. The SDX 125e simplifies alot of the steps you're performing by allowing me to do it on the cutter itself or in their desktop software. Like I was saying it is nice to see how other folk are making cool stickers from home. Not so long ago these sorts of features were relegated to super pricey professional level plotters/cutters and print services.
Very interesting! We’ll have to check out the Xyron - had one of the smaller ones years ago. The only question we’d have on that is how to get around the issue of the Cricut needing the black line around the page for print and cut (and not laminating over that. Still something worth exploring! It’d be nice to simplify that step. Thanks for watching and for the tips!
@@JustMightDIY The sensor for the Cricut doesn't read through transparent laminates? So what setting would you use if you were trying to cut out clear water slide decals, or static clings, or even overhead transparencies from your laser printer so you can make sun catchers?
If they’re glossy, it could effect the sensor for print and cut according to what we’ve heard, through we haven’t tested that theory. We haven’t tried water slide yet. Again, it’s worth exploring for sure.
@@JustMightDIY You can stick some matte clear tape over the black lines around the page. You can also close the top lid to prevent light from reflecting off the shiny laminate. I've done both and it works great with my Explore Air.
@@aracelysee9665 great tips - thanks for sharing!
I love how you explain all step by step. Please, I need to know what blade are you using because I try with the factory blade but unfortunately won’t work for me just cut the laminated vinyl but not the backing paper . Thank you so much for these videos.
Hello! We’re using the Cricut brand blade. As we have the Maker, we use the Premium Fine Point blade (white caps). If yours isn’t cutting all the way through, try a new blade or increase your pressure.
@@JustMightDIY thank you for your replay! I’ll try with the premium one. Something else I want to know, what do yo mean with the “white cap”?
does the laminate peel off? That's my only worry with doing something like this. This is a great video and very informative!! It has helped a lot!!
Hey! We’re glad this was helpful. We haven’t had any of our laminate peel off. It’s a pretty strong adhesive, and we pressed it on really well. 😄

Great video! I ordered the same type of sticker paper but I believe I got the glossy kind. Will
It work if I used an inkjet printer? Also, anyway it can be kiss cut and not die cut?? Thank u!!
Hey! Glossed *should* work in an inkjet. However, you may need to put matte scotch tape over the registration marks for the Cricut to read them.

Have you guys done this whole process but also used a laminator on cold settings? I seen some people do that
Hey! Thanks for your question. We haven’t tried that, as the adhesive works so well. If you do try it, keep in mind that you don’t want to cover the black registration line, as that could affect the Cricut’s ability to cut properly.
I like the video but why did you use that particular paper and laminate instead of glossy waterproof sticker paper?
Hi and thanks for your questions. Glossy paper does not work in our laser printer. 😉

Do the stickers hold up in the outdoors such as on a vehicle? I'm new to print and cut stickers. Thanks for an awesome tutorial
Hey! We haven’t tested them outdoors yet. We *think* you’ll want to be sure you’re using UV stable materials so they won’t fade, though.
Thank you for this! Can you tell me what ruler and paper cutter you used?
Hey! That ruler has been discontinued, unfortunately. Very helpful thank you guys so much. I do not see the offset option on my iPad on Cricut design space. Is that something only available on a computer ?
Hey! Yes - I think it’s only available on the computer version. However, if your iPad can run Procreate, you can use that program to draw white outlines around your images. 😉
@@JustMightDIY good to know thank you so much again!

Thank you so much for this video! I have the same sticker paper/laminate and used the settings for cutting with the cricut. However, it did not cut all the way through... Any suggestions?
Before ejecting from the cricut one should always check to make sure cut is complete. If it is not you can press the "C" button again for another round

So excited to try!! 🎉
Let us know how it turns out!
Great video, peeps, however, there is one step that seems to be overlooked in a few how-to's I've been watching and it is regarding the PC to CriCut print stage. You've shown us to print using an inkjet printer first, but there is no screen information on what options are available when it's time to move on to the CriCut stage. You show CriCut doing it's job but we don't see what you've told the hardware to do. Do you simply change the Printer drop down and select the CriCut or are there a few more options that should be kept in mind? Thank you.
Hey there. Thanks for watching and for your comment. We show all settings in this video - the settings we used to print the stickers out are at 5:28 and the Cricut cut settings follow immediately after at 6:05, lasting until 6:34. Hope this helps!
Amazing video! I like that you included links for various products. I'm just wondering what roll you would recommend for name-stickers on clothes? Something that doesn't wash off easily and hopefully sticks to kids clothes quite well.
I'm trying to find it myself, but most often I end up finding A4 hobby sheets, not quality A2 rolls..
Thanks! Could you clarify? Not sure if you mean temporary name stickers or something more permanent. We haven't looked into temporary name tags yet but there are tons of great options for permanent.
@@JustMightDIY Thanks for the reply! So this questions is for labelling clothes for kindergarten and school, something to stick inside the collar of the clothes or similar semi-hidden locations, so I know which clothes belongs to my son.
Sort of temporary as I don’t want them to fall off that easily, but in tune to your question I guess it’s more appropriate to call it temporary, maybe?
We haven't done any research into name tag stickers like that. First impression is that it would itch and be uncomfortable. If we had to do something like that we would probably use an iron on printed from inkjet.

Are both like this. Works on any fabric and feels smooth. Hour this helps!

Thank YOU for watching. We’re so glad it’s helpful!! ❤️
Thank you! This has helped me so much. I do have a question. Whenever it goes to cut on the cricut, I know to keep it the exact same. I’m confused on what to do then. Do you send it to the cricut as a cut image so it is just that outline of the offset? If that makes sense.
Hey there! If you have it set as Print then Cut in Design Space, it should sequence things in the right order (you’d print through Cricut to your printer and then continue on to the cutting stage). Hope this helps!
just what i needed . this video helped a lot.

Now DS has the Guide feature for that shape behind images.
Awesome - thanks for sharing! Love to hear Cricut improve the DS experience.
How did you make it cut the stickers out individually instead of them sticking to the back square sheet?
Hey! That has to do with the pressure. I’d you’re only getting a kiss cut, increase your pressure. Hope this helps!
