Tianna Walton ughhh i keep begging my mom to let me stop straightening it bc I WANNA take care of it but apparently it’s “helping” even though she doesn’t know what it feels like to have MY HAIR!!!
My hair is dead. When I look at past pictures of myself before it died I, honestly, feel like crying Edit: i have fully transitioned and now have a whole new head of healthy hair Edit edit: I just let my new hair grow out, and slowly cut off the damaged hair. Also I dont put any heat on my hair, use products and techniques for my porosity, and sleep with a satin bonnet. Not much honestly, bit I hope this answers any questions ❤
And water is most important ladies ! Drink as much as possible every single day, it helps your hair grow, skin clear and overall weight and health. Drink drink drink 💧💧💧💧
yay ! You should pick up a cute water bottle, i have many from tj maxx or marshalls for super cheap. They're cute, cheap and remind me to drink up all my water before a certain time. I try to drink at least 3 full bottles a day, which is about 80 ounces. it's a lot but its helped so much with my hair, acne and weight.
+Liz Pena i never drink water. i don't know if its a problem but i just can't drink it. this might seem silly but i just don't like the taste. what should i do?
Ivette i know it sounds crazy but i dont drink certain water brands lol, i literally taste the difference and every one calls me insane lol. but when i want a little more flavor i add some lemons. you can also add some raspberries or any other fruit that you like. but plain, cold water is what i suggest
it use to take me this long then my cheer coach made me straighten my hair everyday bc she didn’t like my curls now i have 0 curls j straw dry straight hair
This helped me so much because I have SUPER dry hair and I just bought the Aussie Moisture conditioner and I can feel my curls becoming a little bit moisturized. Thank you for these tips!!
As and African-Americans I was programmed to be afraid of wetting my hair too often, it would dry my hair to the point of breaking it off. I was wrong, you can wash/co wash as often as you want. I wash/co wash twice a week and my hair has grown an inch and a half in a month in a half. My hair loves the water and has thrived. Do what works!
AyoElla anvenue You are not alone. From my research Curly hair shrinks from 30%-75% depending on a number of factors, which is why so many naturals stretch their hair in order to retain length. My hair shrinks 30% at the crown and up to 50% around the nape, I sort of have a natural non. lol!
When i didnt know alot about my 3c hair a few months ago i would leave my hair in a bun for like a week without wetting it or anything and pretty much everything your not supposed to do to your hair lol , i dont understand why i thought it was bad but now i moisturize my hair everyday :)
I hate the smell of that Shea moisture stuff too. It's disgusting smelling. Also as a little girl i went to a salon and she told me I had "water damage" (I used water everyday as a kid for my bun) and even to this day I swear she was on crack or something I can't believe my mom bought that BS. My hairs best friend is literally water.
Yes it has such things as water damage you should wash your hair at least once or twice a week but not everyday thats just not healthy for your hair trust me i use to water my hair everyday like it was a plant and as i stopped ive seen a differrence is texture and my hair dont fall out as much as it use to
I had a hairdresser tell me and my niece we both had water damage. I basically use a spray bottle everyday to pull my hair back in a bun or braid when I wear it curly. The advice she gave me was to add aloe vera juice to the water bottle to help prevent damage. I guess the water alone is just not good for the scalp, and hair.
I literally have the same problem. Every video ive come across on this topic, tells you to take a break from heat and not colour but ive never done that in the first place
I used to straighten my hair every single day for a whole year and it became so damaged and disgusting I haven't straightened my hair in 9 months and it's gotten so much healthier and Ive limited my use of heat tools to only once to twice a year and it's all because of your videos, you made me confident and really helped me accept my curls. Thank you so much :)
I took this advice and I stopped straightening since this video got released and I also bought the macadamia hair mask and their leave in which smells incredible btw and my hair is so shiny and curly , I have almost the same hair texture as you and before it just used to touch my shoulders and now its right under my boob and that's with my hair curly but anyways I'm saying this now because I'm about to straighten it tomorrow but yeah just wanted you to know lol LOVE YOU LUHSETTE
Thank you for your videos I'm a completely white 15 year old with hair exactly like yours and I'm the only one in my Family that has curly hair. Thanks for teaching me to correctly take care of my hair 😊👌
Someone please tell me why lisette looks so freaking gorgeous like she's beautiful. She is (in my eyes) thee pinnacle of gorgeousness. Like there is no one more beautiful than lisette(in my eyes). Much love. Keep doing you and never ever stop making amazing videos.
Well right now I'm going natural, and I have a lot of heat damaged and permed ends! But I'm trying trying really hard to get my hair healthy bc I've done a lot of damage to it. This video was very helpful! Thank you ❤️
Omg I love this girl, am I the only one that feels like her voice is so calming that I could literally fall asleep. She's so nice and she seems like really understanding omg and again I love this girl
OMG get a Slap cap because if you are doing a twist out or any thing and you have to go to the store right quick you can put it on and it looks super stylish and it has satin inside so it doesn't break your hair off and it's also good to wear overnight😂👌🏽
I literally cracked up when you said you had to apply that Shea Moisture mask while blocking your nose, because when I first tried it I was the same exact way!!! The smell made me gag and I almost rinsed it out immediately, but when I saw the results after my treatment I was very impressed. Needless to say overtime this has become my favorite deep conditioner and I actually like the smell now. I've tried other deep conditioners too, but I haven't found one better than this one for my hair.
Girl I know this video is old but I am so grateful. The top part of my hair is so damaged and broken off. Idk how to even style my hair anymore... I don't want to shave my hair or cut it really low , but in some parts its broken down to the root. But this has definitely given me hope.. I went from shoulder length to a botched Bob in a matter of 2 months I am not giving up , I refuse... This video just added fuel to my fire. 🙏
You look so pretty in this video💕 I didn't know about the tight hairstyle thing.. It's gonna be hard for me because I wear curly hair in buns ALL the time lol
I just want to say Im a year into not straighten my curls everyday. I found these video and that was it, you had all the answers. :) I straighten my hair once every few months just to check the length.. Im so glad I found these videos. :) embracing my curl. So much healthier.
If you're looking for something better than the black bonnets there are satin beanies that you can order offline. Its called slaps and they double as a cute beanie to wear during the day and night. Btw I love your videos 😊
I love your videos and how detailed you stay in explaining activities to repair damaged hair. You should consider a video on types of protective styles for curly hair like braids. 🌞
You are so pretty oh my goodness like pretty doesn't even justify it like they need to invent a whole new and shiny word just to encapsulate your limitless beauty.
I no joke felt like this video applied to me and only me because of how relatable the beginning get was. I have stringy hair pieces , relaxer damage , color damage , and heat damage. My hair type is currently .. not known? Lol. I have about 3 to 4 different curl patterns , no confidence in my curly hair , and I'm just tired. I straightened my hair the entire seventh grade ( year just ended ..) I love love love love ,looveee my straight hair. I see all these Beautiful curly girls on youtube and want my hair to be like theirs , but I don't feel like curly hair suits me . What to do? Idk. Any ideas anyone ...?
devonyfriday I say go on a healthy relaxed hair journey. After all its your hair. Relaxed hair may come from chemicals, but if you take care of it correctly, you can still have healthy relaxed hair. I think straight hair looks better on me so i just do stretched natural hair styling.
Go natural, you say your curls don't suit you. They may not look good to you because they're damaged after straightning them too much. When you leave your hair alone, your curls will be beautiful, trust me I know. Try not straightning your hair through the summer and look at it right before the school year starts, it'll look good, trust me :).
partywildly109 another problem is my confidence with my curly hair i hate the comments " omg its so big!" " its so fluffy" " you look better with straight hair" its just so overwhelming Susanna Beshai thank you both. I will defiantly do my best to achieve what i want very badly ( beautiful curly hair ).
you should try henna it conditions your hair so much it gives your hair shine, makes it stronger and you get a little bit of color and it also adds moisture to your hair
Thanks si much for this video Lisette. I am trying to stop straightening my hair. I stopped relaxing it about a year and a half ago so I know that I can stop it's just gonna take me some time to get used to it and not being able to run my fingers through my hair
This was really helpful I use and old scarf that I had and it works pretty well. When I wake up in the morning my hair is soft and looks fresh or not frizzy. Love you 💘💖
What is your true dream color for your hair, Lisette? I wish I could dye my hair, but I'm mixed and I have a darker complexion and really dark hair color, so I feel like if I dyed it lighter, it wouldn't look good.
***** I want light brown/dark blonde balayage highlights, but every time I dye my hair it ends up red!!! Anyone can go lighter, it's just about what looks good on your skintone and color. Look up celebrities that have a similar skin tone to you, and see what hair colors they have. Beyonce, Jourdan Dunn, Keri Hilson. Use them as inspiration! :)
You are Such A Great Person to come to When it comes to curly Hair and damages and thanks for all the tips you have given me through all your videos 😍😃😀
I texturized my hair about 4 or 5 times and my hair is like straight/curly and every time I wake up to go to school my hair is very flat and dry so I try to use water and curling products and it doesn't do anything. When I go to school it is dry and their is no volume in my curls.
I watched your video and decided I needed to start my own personal natural hair care challenge for myself to help with my damaged curly hair no dying or straightening for 60days to start off with hopefully it work👍🏼
the problem with using something like aussie moist with sulfate free shampoo is that you're effectively weighing your hair down with all the silicones in it with nothing to take it out, because the sulfates are the only thing that break down the silicones... If you're going to use a silicone conditioner with sulfate free shampoo, I would recommend using a sulfate shampoo every few washes to make sure the silicones aren't building up too much. or just use something like suave naturals conditioner as it's cheaper than aussie and silicone free
Im brown and I use a satin bonnet and the loc method, even 1 or 2 cornrows to make my curls pop (I have 3b/c) hair and Im sure its not weird lol if your hair type is such why not? I've been asked once by some idiot who wasn't even black why I had 2 cornrows/dutch braids and I told him the truth lol my hair dresser is black and she told me if I don't take care of my hair she'll kill me, for the longest time I didnt know how to take care of my hair, as persian/indians we oiled and maybe do one braid or a couple but no ones hair was like mine here in Malaysia until I met my Goddess hairdresser who was black and thought me her ways so its not weird lol👏🏽👌
I totally used to say I'll never do this or that, but then guess what?! I texturized it -_- , so thank you for this video. What I love the most is that your hair is exactly the same way mine Is now :)...literally life saver :* ily!
OHMYGOD I NEEDED THIS ACTUALLY TODAY I WAS READING ARTICLES ABOUT IT SO THSNK YOU SO MUCH I DIDNT WATCH IT YET BUT THANK YOU AND IM WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS BC IM TOO EXCITED
This was quite informative! In the past, one of the reasons why my hair was breaking so badly was because I was constantly putting it up in a ponytail/bun. It also didn't help that I was manipulating it with excessive heat. I didn't do a full big chop and shave my head but I cut off a significant amount and it was the best decision I could've made. :)
I need so help, I'm 13 my hair has been damaged after I got a Chinese perm when I was 7 years old. Now,I want to cut my damaged hair and regrow it. Idk what hair cut I want, what to do after, I just really need some help.
Thanks for the tips - I always love your videos! I just wanted to throw this out there for those who are looking to go chemical free. I used to use Shea Moisture line but was not keen on the smell and it was so thick that it was hard to spread well and suds up. Now I have been using the SoapBox line of shampoo and Conditioner on my Med. thick naturally curly hair and it's great! It's Sulfate free, Paraban free and makes my hair and curls feel soft. I recommend!
this is going to be a really stupid question, but does your hair act as a pillow for things? like when you lie on the ground, can you feel your hair/is it squishy. I've always imagined having curls like that would be amazing. not only do they look super cute, but they're probably really comfy to lay on. Sorry it's a dumb question but I've always wanted to know!
Cuppycake Kaylee Hahaa, I always wonder how people can come on really cool and funny ideas :D When I think of something for an example some invention... It already exists! I don't think it does not act as a pillow, because when you are laying on the ground, you can still feel the floor. But in bed, sofa, it is soft..
Haha it's not silly! Yes us curly girls can use our hair as squishy pillows :P but most of the time we try to avoid doing that so we don't ruin the curls by frizzling them up.
Cuppycake Kaylee no it does not feel squishy. I love my curls but don't get me wrong I sometimes wish I had straight hair. all though it can be but I said no cause we don't want it frizzing
my hair is like natural but it looks like i curled it so i have those kinds of curls in the front and in the back i have wavy and strait hair and i dont take care of it lol
Every night I put Aloe Vera gel in my hair to moisturise and hold the curl; if you put it in before you go to bed, crunchy curls don't occur! its super helpful and helps grow your hair too.
Beauty Brands is having their annual 13.99 liter sale! They have a brand included in that sale called AG hair cosmetics that I have been using for years!! I love them because they 1.are cruelty free 2. Sulfates free 3. No salt, parables or gluten! It has done wonders for my curly hair. I switch from the recoil shampoo and conditioner and the moisture line fast food shampoo and ultramoist conditioner. This stuff smells AMAZING, I get compliments all day! I feel like I'm rambling now but, I truly do love this stuff. This is truly my honest opinion, I'm just a random curly hair girl watching videos. LOL
Her hair is fabulous. Goood looking there, usually my hair gets super thick and with coils or curly and shine when wet, and put argan oil. It makes my hair healthy. I just love my hair.
Aunt Jackie's in control and the shampoo and Detangler is the best stuff ever . I damaged my hair with flat ironing it and after one wash it felt so good and my hair felt new. This stuff is really a life saver. It smells decent as well. You can find it on amazon and target.
My curls have gone so loose because of straightening it so much😭 i miss having tighter fuller curls..

Is water supposed to shrink hair or is it just me? It's soft then it hardens and shrinks :(
AyoElla anvenue You are not alone. From my research Curly hair shrinks from 30%-75% depending on a number of factors, which is why so many naturals stretch their hair in order to retain length. My hair shrinks 30% at the crown and up to 50% around the nape, I sort of have a natural non. lol!

I love how you said to LIMIT heat and not get rid of it. It really helps with me feeling better for using hair straighteners when I go out
Sulfates In conditioners aren't very common. Silicones are what you should be avoiding in conditioners. Curly penny has a video on it!
Curly Penny's videos are really good
curly penny is a curly hair queen

try a cheap wig or use an app to change your hair color on picture
you can do light coloured hair as long as it matches your skin undertone.

When she said how curly haired girls go through conditioner like water I was like, yup
I watched your video and decided I needed to start my own personal natural hair care challenge for myself to help with my damaged curly hair no dying or straightening for 60days to start off with hopefully it work👍🏼
wetting your hair frequently is bad because it strips the oil from your hair. leave in conditioner is fine I believe.
wetting your hair doesn't strip the oils. shampooing is what strips the natural oils
btw, your comment was posted on my birthday haha
Please do a video on your top 10 or top 5 favorite curly hair products and why each of them are your favorite!!
I just cut my hair to an inch above my shoulders any tips
the problem with using something like aussie moist with sulfate free shampoo is that you're effectively weighing your hair down with all the silicones in it with nothing to take it out, because the sulfates are the only thing that break down the silicones... If you're going to use a silicone conditioner with sulfate free shampoo, I would recommend using a sulfate shampoo every few washes to make sure the silicones aren't building up too much. or just use something like suave naturals conditioner as it's cheaper than aussie and silicone free
would it be weird for me a white girl with wavy hair to use a satin bonnet, etc.?
Gillian Cook nope! :)
Lol I always wondered the same thing
beck vergas you're going to sleep anyway I don't think it matters
beck vergas lol a bonnet has no race lol i wear one sometimes your just protecting your hair

Flat ironed my hair once ( first time) and I get heat damage
Txunamy Rules same. I just straightened my hair and now it’s straight in some areas 😐
Sameeee
did yours get better?
Thank you so much Lisette, I'm so excited to start letting my natural curly hair grow and become more healthy! Love you and your videos!!
My hair is so damaged I don’t think it will ever get curly again 😭😭😭😭😭
same 😭😭
Sameee😂
Perris it gets better just give your hair lots of love.❤️
This was quite informative! In the past, one of the reasons why my hair was breaking so badly was because I was constantly putting it up in a ponytail/bun. It also didn't help that I was manipulating it with excessive heat. I didn't do a full big chop and shave my head but I cut off a significant amount and it was the best decision I could've made. :)
your eyeshadow is stunning! what palette do you use?
Ivette she usually uses the chocolate bar palette
I don't have curly hair but I'm still watching this cause I'm obsessed with your videos 😍
I do not really use shampoo because it makes my hair dry -_- Conditioner is mah life tho.
You have to try Mielle Organics their honey dew berry cowash makes ur hair so soft and easy to detangle
I recommend!
love these tips! You have such pretty hair :)
I have finally found my hair twin!! Please keep making videos :)
this is going to be a really stupid question, but does your hair act as a pillow for things? like when you lie on the ground, can you feel your hair/is it squishy.
Haha yeah it does.
If a ball hits you on the head it bounces off and doesn't hurt XD That is one plus about curly hair
The thing that helped me the most was staying away completely from heat, it really made a difference!
you are so gorgeous!! 😍😍😍
Good to see you doing these kind of videos again! 😊
"Basically I look like a mushroom" 😂😂

my hair is like natural but it looks like i curled it so i have those kinds of curls in the front and in the back i have wavy and strait hair and i dont take care of it lol
Every night I put Aloe Vera gel in my hair to moisturise and hold the curl; if you put it in before you go to bed, crunchy curls don't occur! its super helpful and helps grow your hair too.
My hair is always shit 😂
I would really appreciate if u could do a another curly hair routine or the products that you like for curly hair I could use the help!!
you almost look like Ariana Grande 😍
my thoughts exactly! especially with straight hair
RIGHTTT
Yeah!!
after the lips surgery she looks like ariana😂
her ieys are like Ariana grande
LOL
i feel like i have damage from using hair gel...
Her hair is fabulous. Goood looking there, usually my hair gets super thick and with coils or curly and shine when wet, and put argan oil. It makes my hair healthy. I just love my hair.
has anyone recently stopped straightening their hair and starting their curly hair journey and everyone’s like “omg did you use mousse?!”
Aunt Jackie's in control and the shampoo and Detangler is the best stuff ever . I damaged my hair with flat ironing it and after one wash it felt so good and my hair felt new. This stuff is really a life saver. It smells decent as well. You can find it on amazon and target.
You got the voice of carly from iCarly!
no she don’t...
My cowash my hair everyday too! Ppl say that's way too much but my curls really appreciate it
My hair looks exactly like the thumbnail..
