    I have older easy touch with 1 board and on far left 2 sets of 4 pins and says Com ports and 1st set has 4 wires for remote and additional yellow and green from I think Pentair variable speed pump and wondering if I should be able to use 2nd set of com ports for this screenlogic and if so where do I get s all black plastic adapter at 3:14 minutes in as my 2nd set of com ports is missing that piece?

    A quick question. If I have ethernet cable close to my Easytouch panel, can I connect the Screenlogical interface protocol adapter directly on COM port of Easytouch panel and avoid these two antennas (outdoor and Indoor)?

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. There are two different ScreenLogic interface kits that you can buy. The non-wireless one is part number 520500. It retails for around $545. The other one you see in the video is the wireless one and that one’s only $100 more or so, but has the wireless feature and 2 boxes.

    Great video. I have a question. After working for many years, I lost wireless local or remote communication even though the app says it is connected. All the lights (power, TX, RX) on the inside remote adapter are flashing. Any ideas?

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  Год назад +1

      I remember reading some forms of other people complaining about something similar. I can’t remember the details, but I believe there may be a small watch style battery inside the protocol adapter. If you open up that adapter and find a small silver button cell battery I would replace it as it’s only two dollars and a great place to start. If that doesn’t work, I would delete the interface from your app and start over and Rea at it like we do in the video. Let us know how this works out for you!

    My screenlogic protocol box is bad. Spoke to pentair support. Believe it’s a gen 1 since there isn’t a “2” on the box. Can I upgrade to a Screenlogic 2 with the protocol box and antennas?

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  8 месяцев назад

      Yes. Part number 520500 is the one box interface kit that is not wireless. The other interface kit, which is wireless and seen in the video part number 522104 and comes with the two different boxes. One box goes inside your pool panel and one box goes inside your house near the Internet and it will be the wireless connection outside.

    • @MrRafrican
      @MrRafrican Год назад

      any local port will work

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  8 месяцев назад

      Any ethernet port that is connected to your network. I have seen people use range extenders, which will take the Wi-Fi signal to this little box and it’s plugged into the wall and then you can connect the ethernet cable to that little device. That is for instances where you want it hidden in a closet or something.

    • @fr9714
      @fr9714 5 месяцев назад

      The protocol adapter is the proprietary box that has a driver that talks to the main board.
      You can hook it up to the com port directly and hook the protocol adapter to your own WiFi adapter which has Ethernet port. But you need to run power to it.
      It’s all not worth the hassle. The $200 wireless adapter is expensive but ultimately might be the way to go

    Thanks for the video! I'm adding a ScreenLogic to my Easy Touch control panel. I already have an EasyTouch Wireless control set up in it. The Pentair control board has a small board that the existing antenna is wired to. The antenna is wired to the connector on the left side. The middle lower connector labeled JP3 has a wire that goes to the front control panel. There is a 4 pin connector on the right labeled JP4 that is empty on the right side. Can I wire the Screenlogic antenna to this connector?

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  Год назад

      I would delete the old system from the ScreenLogic Pentair app. I would then re-enter the app and have it search and connect for devices on your local network again. Because the address for this device changed with your new Internet. It should magically find the device again now. Then set up the remote to begin by following the video, by entering the unique number on the side of your Pentair Box.

      I would take screenshots of all of your settings and write them down. Then I would delete the app and reinstall it and see if that helps you. I have had others that reported that fixed glitches like this. But to prevent a headache, make sure you write down all of your username and passwords so you don’t get locked out when you reinstall the app. You can also call Pentair tech-support and they can help you with this type of thing.

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  7 месяцев назад

      Dang it! That must be so annoying. Honestly if I got to that level I would reset the device and start over as if it was new and add it again to the network. Sounds like you did that already. I can't see why a modem change would cause this but you must have one of those mode/router all in one devices. I bet the new one is spitting out a new IP address such as 10.x.x.x.x vs. the old one running as 192.168.1.1. You will have to tell the new router to run on the address scheme of 192.168.1.1. It is not as hard as it sounds and that is pretty standard addressing. Google search your exact router model and watch a video on how to change that over.

    Thanks for the nice video. Ques - I have a Pentair with Intellitouch panel inside the house that mirrors the outside panel. How do I know this is compatible? I asked a pool guy who says installing this is $1700. I checked and it looks like it is stupid simple with Amazon selling the antenna + board and housing for $750. If you add a surge protector it is maybe $800 tops. So I'm trying to find out if I can just buy the equipment myself and have him install it for the professional setup. So how do I know this is compatible with my system?

    • @fr9714
      @fr9714 5 месяцев назад

      I bought it from Amazon and installed it. The wired indoor panel was already plugged in to J20 com port of the Pentair Compool To Easytouch Upgrade system I have.
      So bought the Pentair Serial Com port expansion board. So the expansion board is plugged into main board and the indoor panel and wireless transmitter is plugged into the expansion board. So it’s kinda sharing the same bus. Seems like it should work
      Will update how it goes.

    I have a customer that has Starlink. Is there a way to set up wireless without having a wired connection inside?

    • @lauriekobor8513
      @lauriekobor8513 11 месяцев назад +1

      I have Starlink and my pool tech just phoned Pentair Customer Support because our Screen Logic system is not working. They said Starlink is incompatible. It is too fast and because of the changing IP addresses of the various satellites, the Screen Logic system is unable to connect. They recommended getting a slower wifi connection (🤪). Apparently the alternative is to get a new non wifi system with a remote control to control the Pentair equipment.

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  8 месяцев назад +1

      I searched around the forms for any help on SLL and there’s other people reporting the same problem. As of 21 weeks ago, I did not see anyone find a resolution yet. It’s probably because the IP address is changing too often and the ScreenLogic system cannot keep up. When I read the Starling website, it says that Starl Link network is a dynamic network and the IP address will change from time to time for resilience and as the network capacity increases. They do not currently provide any static IP option. With that said normal home Internet is also dynamic, but it doesn’t change very often. Maybe once a month. You can probably patch this by adding a VPN such as tail scale, or tard, or setting up a dynamic DNS. So that the DNS name stays the same, but is always monitoring and forwarding to the dynamic IP address. For the DNS name you can go to no ip.com. I have used them for years and it’s been great for other applications.

    How much is this Screenlogic equipment cost normally?

    • @PoolProfessor
      @PoolProfessor  8 месяцев назад +1

      Normally, you have to get it from a dealer. Those costs very dependent where you live. I would estimate between $1000-$1500. Or you can go this route and by the one in the video description using the link for around 500 to $600.

      Go to page 80-83 of this PDF manual linked below and try that. If that does not work then would I delete the device from the app. Press and hold the reset button on the screen logic box 3 times within 5 secs like the manual say. And start over. Make sure you enter that number from the box to the app so it can't find it at all times remotely. Like the video shows. www.pentair.com/content/dam/extranet/nam/pentair-pool/residential/automation/screenlogic2/screenlogic2-interface-installation-users-guide-english.pdf
