Well unfortunately, getting your powers from a god would make you a cleric, not a warlock, so Bane with a pact weapon would technically be a flavor fail
@@edhjankcenter Warlocks can make pacts with Dieties directly, although typically it's presented otherwise, there's nothing to say they can't, and there's definitely evidence to indicate that it's something WotC intends to be an option, not even just a "your GM can decide what they want" The Celestial Patron is the most official patron with a divine flavour, and it's implied to mostly be angels and whatnot that you're dealing with, but doesn't disallow gods, especially minor ones But the real evidence that this is considered acceptable by what WotC designed the class to be are two of the patrons that were released for Unearthed Arcana. Unofficial in terms of the Published Work, but given they are essentially Playtest products directly from WotC it's fair to assume that a diety patron from there would indicate how WotC considers the possibility. The Seeker patro specifically says "Your patron could be any deity or other powerful entity dedicated to knowledge or forgotten lore." And The Raven Queen, is just straight up a goddess.
