Kaito not being a planeswalker during your turn means if he gets blocked he doesn't lose loyalty counters. That's why Gideon says prevent all damage on your turn. Kaito can still die to damage greater than his toughness though.
Karn immediately gets banned if a sideboard is added, right? Exact same reason for Lutri being hit, the cost to include it is so low that I feel everyone plays it
I think having a card permanently in your sideboard isn't as big an issue as having a creature always in your opening hand. Lutri wasn't just about the deckbuilding cost, it was also that he would be part of every single game with an optimally built izzet deck. And the deck building cost wasn't low, it was actually 0. Sideboard at least takes some thought.
@ not as much in best of one, though. I agree that there’s a cost to a wishboard in Legacy, but in CEDH if they add a sideboard it’s just for wish purposes. Everyone is going to take advantage of the ability to run 15 situational artifacts that they can grab off Karn with limited deckbuilding impact, especially since Karn is a colorless answer to artifacts everyone else is grabbing off their own Karns. It’s not quite the level Lutri is but it’s not far below it.
@@michaeldyrud7077 Oh, i mean, the popular way I hear people talking about implementing side boards in commander is for the pre-game. Jace wielder of mysteries works as a spare win con in polymorph decks, it's very nice to have him around if one of your opponents is protected by the one ring
I love Monster’s Advocate in Illuna and Ur-Dragon. Neither of these are CEDH but still casting an Ur-Dragon and searching for Miirym will always be hell
23:40 IIRC Talion plays it because you can't "get" the talion player by forcing them to draw a card and lose unlike with thoracle consult combo. 32:07 A Permanent does NOT need to be a planeswalker to use loyalty abilities. Prime example is Grist being under an Agatha's Soul Cauldron making infinite insects as the new insects can +1/+1, mill a card, and make another insect. 1:06:42 also true in casual. Was playing Esika at FNM and flipped a teferi, and it is actively harmful to your vibes. If you're just like, doing 1-2 to people every turn with a chandra or something, no one is like "That guy has a teferi in play, murder him."
Funny thing is in Orvar Thoracle is great because you can make a copy of it at instant speed. Ive won many games playing a Thoracle on turn 1-2 for the scry and it's a wincon just sitting there that needs to be answered.
One thing I think is nice about Oko is that he is good both with and against the one ring. If you need to stop losing life you can elk your own ring. If you need to stop your opponents one ring he can do that for you. Now that is still nieche but it is nice to have answer to your own one ring that does have other uses. But dealing with your own ring or other stax piece is a bit of an underrated aspect of the card imo. And their will be that once in a blue moon game where you can finish the game with a sol ring attack.
Vivian is absolutely insane in exactly Rocco and even if you don’t have her instant win online for whatever reason, her other abilities are just strong. Extra bodies for cradle or foodchain, randomly draws 1-4 creatures and then the no mana pod for instant pod chains, if we ever get a 2-3 drop blinker it would just win on its own with any dork out.
Jeska with Dargo was a fun combo. You can go infinite castings of Dargo with Phyrexian Altar and a few sacrificial goblins. Then drop Jeska for the win.
One of my favorite things to do with Grist so far is to reanimate it with the fallout mutant commander which makes grist a 3/3 mutant planeswalker with the abilities that won't kill grist after there are no loyalty counters.
2:48 at our LGS Kinnan and Sissay are the two strongest decks currently. So I doubt Sissay is out, people maybe just don’t play her due to how many steps her wins sometimes require 💀
It's not that Sissay is bad now. It's just, that Sissay took a hard hit with the bans because everything was relevant for her. Pre ban she was Top3 and I think this is not the case anymore.

Tamiyo, inquisitive mind is really good if you have doubling season on board. Which is why she is nice in green. I think she has some value but with a doubling season in play you can ultimate her turn two or -2 her turn one. Not always the best CEDH play as doubling can be a bit slow and it's hard to tutor for in Simic but has some value there.
No static ashiok, no lukka copper coat for same reasons as birthing viv, the 3 mana chandra is a great spell reanimator as well i feel like having garruk on the lists means these cards should be too.
Have you thought any about Estrid the masked. It has untapped synergies that can abuse the one ring. Infinite combos with chain veil and abuses enchantment ramp. I’d say it’s in the 2-3 range but enchantresses style decks continue to creep set over set.
Tyvar is easily the 2nd best planeswalker in cedh. It’s so slept on. Any deck with golgari should or is likely playing it, especially if they can synergize with the mill aspect. I feel like TnT could even warrant it to turn their many dorks on one turn earlier. Tayam plays it for sure. Muldrotha plays it. It does so much and if hermit Druid ever makes a comeback into the meta game, this card being able to give you hermit Druid with haste and reborn your hermit Druid, it’ll be a toss up between it and 3 mana teferi for top dog.

Auriok salvagers + lions eye diamond. Auriok salvagers has an activated ability to return a zero or 1 cost artifact to the field for 1(w). Since diamond gives you 3 mana, you pay 2 to return it, netting 1 mana. Rinse and repeat for infinite mana.
might be my Grist player bias talking here but since they didnt mention it I wonder if they didnt consider the fact that his +1 turns wordly tutor into another entomb for hulk which makes him a little more versatile than Varolz despite being a slightly worse sac outlet.
uhm acktchually 🤓Ikoria Companions live in your sideboard, so if you had a Biotransference (which you could do with Gyruda, Kaheera, and Keruga), you could -2 Karn to get your companion in your hand instead of paying 3 whole entire generic mana to do the same thing.
just backed the golden sabertooth project, can't wait for april to roll around already :D Also yea no tutors in red is roughhh. I just ordered a SL Gamble off cardmarket, may as well have the only good tutor look nice too
I think you can give 2 cards the same # ranking but still rank them differently. Closer to a Tier ranking with numbers. Always love the videos, though!
Hey just a suggestion, I think it's fucking hilarious when y'all go into multiple decimal places, but. For future videos like this, if y'all decide on a grade scale, assign each card a single number on that scale, then at the end before doing top ten, you could go through and say "ok, this is the list of cards on 3, how would we order them?", the format might be a bit cleaner and you'll use way less decimals. I think there's pros and cons to both ways, but I wanted to throw it out there as a suggestion. On topic: I *really* like the Teferi combo. It protects itself and has a few point of redundancy in cards you want to be playing anyway. Gotta be my favorite walker for cEDH. I also just really like Teferi as a character, too. Got him in my Tameshi deck.
Stax/static Ashiok? GY hate is good as is no tutoring. But I know they don’t like interacting. Also thought Teferi, Master of Time would get a shoutout. Not good but a mention
I feel like Narset P.o.v is getting swept under due to the wheels debate, however, With Rhystic studies and Mystic Remora floating around in basically eveey blue deck this seems like it could be much better than expressed. I do not play Cedh though ❤

Sweet that's helpful thank you@@zyronblade
58:11 Justice for Ral
Ya and then immediately talking about Tamiyo afterwards? Ral can be a cool commander
Can't wait for the best battles podcast!
Do we bring up that the karn can lock each opponent sorta almost out the game with mycosynth lattice?
you should make your shirts available with collars
Gimmie that play to win formal attire
might be my Grist player bias talking here but since they didnt mention it I wonder if they didnt consider the fact that his +1 turns wordly tutor into another entomb for hulk which makes him a little more versatile than Varolz despite being a slightly worse sac outlet.
I feel like Teferi, Master of Time should have gotten a lot more respect. It slaps and is game warping.
What do you think about tyvar in bloodpod
I laughed so hard when Minsc got a rating of 2,99 🤣. Narrowing the corner even further. You guys crack me up 😅
I think the other teferi is best plansewalker in cEDH, because I see it in every pod!
Quicklier, yup I’m using that
uhm acktchually 🤓Ikoria Companions live in your sideboard, so if you had a Biotransference (which you could do with Gyruda, Kaheera, and Keruga), you could -2 Karn to get your companion in your hand instead of paying 3 whole entire generic mana to do the same thing.
Sisay is still tearing up the field and Dihada is the single best Legend she runs.
Wait until they see my Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider list with Garruk in the 99
just backed the golden sabertooth project, can't wait for april to roll around already :D
Also yea no tutors in red is roughhh. I just ordered a SL Gamble off cardmarket, may as well have the only good tutor look nice too
I think you can give 2 cards the same # ranking but still rank them differently. Closer to a Tier ranking with numbers. Always love the videos, though!
Blood Pod 🔥 Vivien is essentially a 1 card win condition
Im just surprised we didn't even see Liliana dread horde general idk how good it actually is but i know its decent.
They need Tyler to keep the decimals in check
I still use Jace WoM on my RogSi because of Valley Floodcaller 😂
Tevesh was not affected by the bans when partnerd with Rog
Someone should make a meme of Dylan at 1:07:49. This is great
I like ashiok dream render its just there to annoy your opponents.
Kinda missing the bar scrolling at the bottom showing the rankings as you go. Otherwise lovin it
Tyvar sees play in Tayam as well as Sissay. So should be bumped up
Vraska, betrayals sting wins more games for me than almost any other card 🤷♂️ also Dihada is the best imo js
Tevesh trash is looking great after the ban, Tevesh is probly one of the best walkers in commander atm. tyvar i have seen in tayam
I think you forgot that Oko can target The One Ring, right?
Jeska's list placement is ironic haha
Cam, noticed your sweatshirt. Are you guys in Pittsburgh?
Another tutor available to Daretti is Reckless Handling.
I don't get it so was the ranking #10 being the best or #1 being the best?
Am I tripping? Where is the affiliate link to the board game mentioned
right here: www.kickstarter.com/projects/lastditchgames/bullets-and-teeth-and-aliens?ref=brd5hq
Do you think Wotc will introduce a sideboard to EDH?
