Wow, what a crazy episode. I thought it was unaired because of some misplay. I was NOT expecting Wubby to bring in a live pterodactyl mid way through the game that wrecked the entire set
I love that this was released, I hate doing this but to avoid confusion at 46:18 the prof states that chaos warp reveals the top card until you hit a permanent which is incorrect, it only reveals the top card and if it is a permanent it is put onto the battlefield
This game is more like a typical commander game than most episodes in my opinion. I would totally watch more like this. Turors to go get some trash, multiple decks with gimmicks, one person running away with the game and everyone trying to stop them.
I like this episode for the table talk, it’s a great example of talking through mechanics on the fly and feels real. Like, a tough and real game being put on display.
Hello, Prof you are right, it was 3v1. And you were right to go with the 2nd game. I enjoyed this game very much so if you have some unpublished games in similar way as this one, please feel free to publish them 😊
My guess for the reason this episode was not aired: At 16:40 the words "I'm not having fun" were spoken. Whether it's said sincerely or jokingly, these are words that the professor can't ignore, and would never allow for his table to not be fun. His soul fractures whenever he hears those words.
This makes so much more sense. Prof mentioned on the initally aired ep a few references to mana burn and a few other players were referring to a past game. I figured it was a game you all played previously but didn't think it was literally the game prior (I guess its obvious in hindsight now). The originally aired episode was probably the strongest, but this was a good episode!
I have a Flubs deck, and my early guess is that the end is Wubby playing solitaire. Edit: I won't spoil it, but I think Prof made the right call in what was originally aired.
EDIT: Replied to you before the episode started lol. I built my Flubs deck around Slime Against Humanity for a meme deck. It is pretty good at creating high P/T trampling Oozes & with his effect, you can almost start storming off with them if you have the right supporting cards on the board.
@@andrewfornes5320 Yeah I initially built Flubs as landfall but after doing the degenerate landfall thing a few times I decided to go the Slime route too and it's much more fun. Also much less prone to being solitaire Edit: Partway through and I'm so glad Wubby did it too! Love to see some slimey Flubs.
I am glad that you chose to upload the other game, but commander is a volatile format but still fun to play and watch even one player is dominating or gets stomped. More lost episodes please :D
@Luastardust No, but it's one of those things that is impossible to not abuse. lol It either lives and causes havoc, or it dies, and you are just relying on good cards. Not to say that that isn't most commanders, but Aragorn is a card that is meant to feel very strong and synergistic with anything you are doing. As Prof said, it felt like a game of Archenemy where everyone else is memeing and the person who is told not to go hard shows up with a "technically not, but invokes the spirit of" cedh deck. I'm not shitting on you. Clearly, if you are being told not to play CEDH, you are used to playing strong Magic, but to then not see yourself trounce a pod and be able to see that the power level was mentioned for a reason is just choosing to be obtuse.
@Luastardust You are a really strong Magic player regardless of what you are piloting, and you are very entertaining. So, it was still an incredibly enjoyable game, even if it was unbalanced matchup.
I think posting things like this is a great way to get a feel for what a balanced game should(n’t) look like! And watching it feels like a fun way to test threat assessment
Love this episode! I feel like this is typical of what happens in our home games with one deck popping off and dominating with me usually on the wrong end of the beatdown lol.
My LGS has a pretty chill EDH group and allow a select group of noncreature Legendary Artifacts as commanders (mainly if they either flip over & transform into a Legendary Creature or if the artifact itself creates a Legendary Creature...we also allow the backside or token to do commander damage) and I built a Vecna deck but have The Book of Vile Darkness as the commander. It is a pretty fun deck mainly built around losing atleast 2 or more life on each of my turns & creating a zombie token but sometimes the stars align & I create Vecna.
"But many Magic: The Gtahering players have asked..." - sorry to be that guy, just noticed the typo in the description. Big fian of teh cahnnle! Love you prof!
From a viewers point of view there was absolutely nothing wrong with this game of commander. Wubby probably would have wanted to impact the game more but it was still a chill, fun, good time playing magic.
from a viewer point, its arguebly a boring ass game, because its a 3v1. The three of them struggle to even build a board, due to x2 wipes, and one person coinflipping perfect curve.
This was an amusing episode, that I thought was an excellent addition to the series! (Post Watch - I did not guess why it was unaired [Is unaired not a word? I think you 100% made the right choice saving this game to be the "secret unreleased episode" for the season. Having just recently started making gameplay content, I now know the pain of trying to balance having a fun game with wild power dynamics going on
Wubby spoke ill of Underground Sea. That mus be the reason. The fact that the Goaded state turned this game into a 4D chess version of Archenemy against Lua surely has nothing to do with not airing this episode directly after filming.
Both games were great! this one was - understandably - 3v1 but also, Prof you got so heated and it showed when Lua was a bit uncomfortable with all the banter at first (yes, this is my interpretation). I’m sure you talked about it afterwards, but I think it’s a good topic to bring up for everyone! We all have experienced a game like this, where a player is popping off and you barely hang on in the game, or viceversa. Either way it’s important to do what you can and have fun with the situation!
Nobody bullied Lua stfu. She brought a power 9 deck to a pod of 5-6 power. This game was radically not fun to watch as the other 3's decks didn't get to "do their thing" as Lua walked all over them.
@@lilyhorta You literally edited your comment to remove the bullying Lua part. Wow. She plays magic as a career. She can handle being targeted at a table. You are projecting your own insecurities as a girl playing magic onto Lua debating against being the OBVIOUS threat for 20 minutes straight for bringing a 9 power deck.
I did not feel bullied at all :) we were all goofin on each other and I had a great experience with the guys ❤️ Also the threat conversation again is ok - we were all being silly. I even made suggestions on what cards to get rid of due to strength, all love here!
This was an awesome Lost Episode. After watching I can see why You all wanted to go with the second game, it was still fun to watch! Looking forward to more Lost Episodes / Behind the Scenes looks at Shuffle Up and Play.
I initially thought threat assessment. But it became more clear as the game went. Tbh I loved both games & I think you should post both games anytime something like this happens
I think that this might have been cut because of prof's "hostility" toward Lua and her deck. They might have worried that it seemed too real and mean? idk that is my only guess 39 minutes into the video
I was initially expecting it to be because of a misplay on chaos warp. You only flip up one card, not flip until you find a permanent. The first card was permanent, so it wasn't an issue at all. "Reading the card explains the card." 3v1 happens sometimes, and it's part of the game, so i believe it's fine to showcase that this stuff happens to you guys as well as us, regualr folks. Nice video as usual, Professor. 👌

In my own games I play with friends, I have negative-fun when one player straight up runs away with the game and I'm sitting there wondering why we're bothering continuing to play.
This episode wasn't aired because Lua's deck was WAY more powerful than the other decks and nobody's deck really got to "do their thing." It was not fun to watch Lua argue against being the threat.

I think the OG game was the better for sure, and a good call on your part Prof. This game really felt like Lua's deck was just way more potent than all of the others and it was clear that it wasn't going to go well for anyone but her.
pre-guess: massive missed triggers that would've won the game not noticed until 2 turns later edit: i couldn't have been more wrong 😅 a fun episode bc of the personalities involved, but certainly an understandable scrap
The episode that aired in place of this is maybe one of the most interesting and fun shuffle and up and plays ever. This isn’t terrible but it’s a lot less fun because you can tell people are desperately trying to keep up with Aragorn and nothing is happening except Aragorn. Definitely a good call
Prof's suit is what makes him the Clark Kent of Magic .. to hide his tattoos LOL My guess is the rules breaking decks that were in play (1 card breaking, manaburn)

Having just started looking at magic again since the very late 90's. Learning Mana burn isn't a thing anymore and going down that rabbit hole made me feel rather old.

You can’t convince me it’s not Wubby’s fault for not saying ‘haboom’ when revealing his Commander.
And why didn't he say "🦍 🍆" when he looked at his cards?
i watched one and only one wubby video, and now I say "haboom" every single time I flip over a card
Did I just witness the prof doing a Riker inspired chair manoeuvre 👌
