Wait whose son? This is confusing af. You stated 2 different people then used a singular describer followed by a ownership word. Who is bringing a kid to whose place and who is "his"/"their"
Your decks are always so creative and you stick to a theme, I love it :) I remember your "Commander"-Commander Deck, where every card referenced "Commander" in a way :D
"You're playing a bear deck and you're saying, 'I can't bottom this one,"' was brilliant enough. But Prof taking it the one step further of ignorance, glorious.
Between Empress having casual brain rot one liners, Jacob quoting Joey Wheeler, and Joey dropping gay references like the Trixie to Milk on as3 “that’s a lot of energy for safe”, and not to forget professor losing his mind casually; this episode is like the perfect encapsulation of my brain on a normal day.
what a GREAT ending. Great plays by everyone, was long but didn't FEEL long due to all the action. Poor Prof... he was sooo close yet SOOO far away... Also, big shout out for the dr who references... "I'll always remember when the doctor was me" is one of my favorite lines from any show EVER.
idk if they have a new editor or if they just gave the editor more time, but whoever has been editing this season has fantastic humor and I love their style
Prof just doesn't understand what a deal is 😂He thinks there's some abstract concept of an "alliance", and if you do something that he dislikes then you've broken it
@@Hemlocker which is honestly very representative of a big chunk of edh players haha I feel for every "tiny-letters lawyer" in a pod there's a "vibes-based lawyer" too
Prof got what he deserved. The deal was "Attack to Kill Joey, I will draw +1 cards on my turn." The deal had nothing to do with "Kill Joey, the biggest threat to me, and don't touch me in the slightest. Effect none of my board"... xD - Beautiful Karma.
I just wanna say that I had never thought of using EDHRec to check the lower used commanders and I LOVE that tip, Jacob said right at the beginning. 'Like' right out of the gate and I'm sure I'll love this episode as all I've watched before on this channel
I love Jacob! Always entertaining when he is on any channel playing magic! I wish I could play a game with him cause you know it would be so fun, and you never know what might happen next. Also love how he seems to be dancing along to the background music of the video even though it clearly not actually playing in the room with them!
I'm so coming back for this, Jacob was a class act, Joey slayed those triggers and untap upkeep girl-draws :^), and Empress was just an absolute _queen_ the entire way through. I've never fully watched through a full commander game before, but every second of this was peak content. Good stuff everyone, even the judges too! Editing was on point as well 👌
Soooo at 56:23. I believe what Jacob was talking about is... Krakheads. Which a lot of Seattlites were kind of worried about what people would call Kraken fans. Not to mention that maybe people would call Climate Pledge Arena, the Krak house. This hasn't really happened, but there you go and now you know. Also as a sidenote. Many people from the Southlake Union area of Seattle most likely would use the local transit to get to Climate Pledge Arena. If you are playing along that's the S.outh L.ake U.nion T.ransit. which was brought to the attention of the city council that people would be riding the S.L.U.T.,weirdly the name change did not happen. So yes some of the Krakheads ride the S.L.U.T to the Krakhouse. Seattle, we are a certain kind of refined. " Let's not go to Seattle, tis a silly place."
What a great episode! Thank you for making such great content. Joey , Jacob , and Quinn were amazing guests. The banter and puns were off the charts. I really enjoyed watching. Prof , Shuffle up and play continues to get better and better.
I normally don’t really care about quality of videos much, but the editing, video switching to who’s talking, the way you display who’s attacking who, all of that plus more is truly incredible. Great team here.
So question for the prof: Referencing Gatherer for "The Ozolith," you are absolutely right. Rulings state: "The Ozolith's first ability doesn't move counters off the creature that's left the battlefield. Rather, you put the same number of each kind of counter the creature had onto The Ozoloith." Why, then, is the card written "If it had counters on it, put THOSE counters on the Ozolith?" It doesn't say "put an equal number of each of those types of counters." It says, specifically, put THOSE counters on the ozolith. Not ones that look like those. Not ones that imitate those. Those counters. Period. One would think, reading that text, that you would have to choose whether or not modular moves the counters or the Ozolith does. I guess WotC isn't the best with English sometimes?
I just looked it up and as brief as I can make it, the reason is because the "moving" of the counters is triggered by the creature leaving the battlefield, so those counters technically aren't present anymore to be moved. To make things work at all (for either The Ozolith or Modular) the rules clarify that new counters are added, which is why both abilities get to function. There is a way to write The Ozolith to get around this, but it's REALLY awkward. You'd have to replace "those counters" with "a number of counters of type and quantity equal to those that were on the creature". I'm not even 100% sure that this wording would be correct according to the strict rules. EDIT: I just reread the original comment and saw that you addressed this in there, my bad!
Clarification for Grim Hireling and Olivia, Opulent Outlaw (played by Empress Quinn). Both state "Whenever one or more [creatures/outlaws] you control deal combat damage to a player..." This clause means that the specific type of creatures for Olivia, or any creatures for Grim Hireling, dealing combat damage will trigger exactly once per player. In the case where 6 treasures were made (45:00) two players were dealt combat damage (one creature at Joey, one at Prof.), it was stated that because two outlaws dealt combat damage which made 2 treasures because of olivia and 4 because of grim hireling. While the end result was correct, the wording was wrong and may be misleading for people watching. Maximum treasures per combat from Olivia in this 4-player game = 3, and max treasures per combat from Grim hireling in this 4-player game = 6. Fun game and very much enjoyed both the 5-color mono-black and modular bears decks (and of course Jacob totally knowing the cards he's playing).
Hey, its Eli from Cobra Kai! I used to love that show, haven't watched it for a while but the karate was always awesome!! Love to see more of this actor
