Don't know where you're from. But the North's language and accent are based on real-world Northern English. 'Love' isn't a really deep term of endearment here. We call nearly everyone 'love' up here. Well, it's generally not advisable to call someone much older than you 'love'. Or higher up the work hierarchy (not a good idea to call your boss 'love'). Men don't call other men 'love' either, usually. But other than that, everyone from shop assistants you don't know, to your family members, will call you 'love'.

And yes Sansa lying directly lead to Lady's death. Had she told the truth Robert's wrath would've been primarily focused on Joffrey, as well as exonerated Nymeria as having protected Arya. In this situation it would be nye on impossible for Cersei to demand Lady's death.
Instead Robert was left with two conflicting stories with no evidence either way. The only thing he could be sure of was that Ned brought 2 dangerous animals into the capital and one of them attacked his son. Honestly he acted pretty fairly given the information he had.

To be fair, sansa's reaction is pretty normal for her age.
she is a tween, usually at that age girls start wanting to not be seen as kids, specially sansa who is already thinking about dating jeoffrey.
it shows that ned still sees her as a child, that he doesnt know what she likes, and that he hasnt noticed that she hasnt played with dolls in the last 4 years. so this shows that he is not as invested in her life as she would want.
I can see both points of view, sansa grew up pampered by her mom, she has more of a southern upbringing, warmer, more caring, she expects more care and attention from her parents.
Ned grew up in the north, where parenting is harsher, colder, theres probably not a lot of emphasis placed on pampering kids. (he also lived on the vale, but his formative years were in the north)
so although he obviously cares about them, he isnt too focused on them, at least not on sansa, he doesnt know to connect with her, as much as he does with arya, because arya has more of a northern personality.
I used to see this scene as sansa being cruel to her dad, but now, i think thats pretty normal tween behaviour.
its the equivalent of a kid wanted to get their first ps5 and instead receiving fisher price toys.

I bet Sansa wishes she could go back in time and slap herself, then hug her father and say thank you for the doll :((
Its so sad, he was the most loving character in the whole show.

Dang, I forgot how bratty Arya and Sansa were, Ned just couldn’t get a break, he probably would have preferred taking crippled Bran and Rickon or Robb.

Sansa’s problem is that she expects everything to be as they are in songs: perfect and ideal. This is why she sees the king as so perfect and gallant and the queen as trustworthy and loving. She is blinded by her idealistic presuppositions and with that lens applied takes for granted the only true people she has in her life.

I felt just as bad for the septa who died for no reason. She took care of the girls like a mother would and was a good hearted lady, concerned for kids who weren’t hers. The Starks who died did so for family honor and pride. She died for doing her job.

I'm sorry but Sansa being upset is totally understandable, him gifting her something she hasn't played with in YEARS imply that he doesn't pay attention to her, the fact that he gifted her that after he killed Lady makes it even worse, like is that supposed to be compensation ?

A child well brought up knows that a gift, any gift, should be received with a smile and thanked for. Then, in privacy, she can say or do with it what ever she wants. Because gifts are not given for their use, but for the simple act of caring. Seems that some kids brought up as materialists forgot that.
Manners are taught and are to be used in every situation - you are not expected to behave when everything is going super for you - quite the contrary, manners are for when things get tough. Anyone can smile and give thanks when things are going great.
I don't know how it was where you grew up, but where I come from, we were taught from a very young age to behave properly and through some small and symbolic gifts, we are taught the value and meaning of the act. It is not about the gift, ever. It is always about the act.
That way, kids grow up respecting the good intentions and are not self-obsessed pricks who always look what's in it for themselves, what ever the situation might be.
So yes, she is all kind of an ass in this scene. Better word is bratty teenager, meaning she was not properly brought up and taught manners. Sophie played that role well, maybe too well even.

Only when it involved her sister having a hand in the death of her friends, or when it involved a malicious prince prancing around, getting innnocent people killed.
Because otherwise, everyone usually likes Arya immediately because of her generally kind and friendly spirit.
