Well, it does look nice, but I cant help but be disappointed in the atmosphere again, because its again simply a full-on powerfantasy. Sure, we are not a jedi, but that kinda makes it worse, as a Jedi at least has some reason for being a powerfantasy character. This is just an outlaw with a gun... and just in the prologue she sneaks into a fully manned outpost of some faction, on her escape kills 5 of them with her gun, then manages to kill another 2 pursuers on a bike, then pisses of an imperial officer with little to no worry, escapes the planet with no issue, shoots down several military fighters withou problem and escapes. I know we are used to this powerfantasy so much, that it does not seem weird anymore, but it is weird. It is not what I would imagine a good atmosphere to look like, if we are playing as a "simple woman making her way in the galaxy" ... we are an action superhero again :-( Cant we for once get a game where stuff matters a bit? Take inspiration from Andor for a change and make it actually feel a bit real? Like that killing 10 people in a botched escape plan is actually a big deal? As it should be? That pissing of an imperial officer can actually be a real death sentence, not a minor inconvenience when taking off? Where the galaxy trully is a place where one has to find her way, instead of blasting her way through with the grace and inertia of a nuclear powered 30 ton bulldozer???
@Darkstar no tbf, ubisoft often releases 'gameplay trailers' that are actually small well-finished demos, while the full game continues to get worked on and isn't nearly as good. We should all be very cautious of Ubisoft and their trailers. Remember watch dogs.
@@franklyevo, yet this definitely looks like a visually skinned AC game. Not a bad thing, as over the years the AC franchise has had decent visual improvements. As someone who's missed the Star Wars 1313 game since it was announced and pre-emptively cancelled all those years ago, this hits that spot better than I could have ever imagined. Keep up the great work, MASSIVE!
Yeah, Outlaws looks like the developer watched the 1313 trailers and gameplay and went off that, which is a great thing! I was sad when 1313 got canceled, so Outlaws is making me feel like we're getting that game, so to speak.
Except 1313 looked gritty, while this one looks like a normal Star Wars theme. Comedy, cute, and no brutality. This game looks ok, and will watch a play through at some point, but 1313 debut was 10 times better
It doesn't feel like 1313 tonally at all, just because you're not playing as a jedi doesn't make it the same. They should make more games focused on the scum and villainy aspect of Star Wars but this just feels indentical in tone to Jedi Survivor/Fallen Order. Its bright, chirpy, comedic, disneyfied.

I completely agree. A game with so much freedom, yet we're stuck with the one-size-fits-all Disney tomboy character. Woulda been cool if it was like Cyberpunk or Saints Row where there's a male and female script, but.... that's just not the way modern-audience Lucasfilm/Ubisoft roll.

That's true, I wish the game has better combat tho, like 1 blaster could kill 1 person but make it harder to hit them. Bcs spamming blasters doesn't make too much sense compared to star wars movies

Ubisoft revving up those bots early to get ahead of the quip filled trash gameplay trailer they put out, will inevitably downgrade to hell and back and disappoint people with.
@otvertka Almost as if people can collectively agree the game looks very promising. Although I guess when someone has a common opinion, they're just bots 🤷♂️.
Especially since it's Ubisoft. I like the look of it, but I'm getting flashbacks to the Watch Dogs and Wildlands trailers and how different they were when they finally released
I'm having trouble with the words "vastly open-world". Nowhere in this trailer is there any indication of freedom to explore. It looks more like a linear third person action shooter than anything else. It's a Ubisoft game so there's no doubt it will have an open world, but I'm not seeing it in this trailer. And yeah, there will undoubtedly be a downgrade to this. It's easy to make a small sample of a game look really good, it's a lot harder to apply it to a full game with a "vastly open-world". Not saying don't be excited, just be realistic about it.
It is an area of the Star Wars universe we haven't really gotten to explore as much, the relations in the underworld - and it is so cool to see the Empire in the midst of these outlaws, working closely with them like the biggest mafia there is! 😍 It almost makes them even more scary to fight against!
There's a reasoon for this... and it is this crazy idea that Star Wars is just that one story we were told 50 years ago and if there's no Jedi or lightsaber battles of good end evil, it's not Star Wars. That’s a pretty good take on it. A lot of people seem tired of revisiting the Imperial era, but I think that’s because we keep seeing the Empire through the same lens every time: Empire evil and oppressive, so you fight them in rebellion. While Andor still kinda followed that formula, we got a much needed look at the Empire from the lenses of politicians and bureaucrats, which was fresh an new compared to other stories. With Outlaws, we also have a chance to see another perspective through the underworld.

I think they are fine for a 20 or 30 dollar experience. Back in the day they were a weekend rental. You were happy you spend 5 to 7 bucks to beat it on your day or days off and returned it. Thoughts days are over though and 70 bucks for anything you aren't gonna get a few hundred hours out of just aren't worth your cash.
Yes it is? Do you know how expensive it is to make a game like this? I don’t have “100s of hours” to put into a star wars game, or any game for that matter, anywhere from 40 to 80 is more than enough for me
This is one of those games where the idea and goal they have for the game, I feel like, won't be completely how they invision come release. The idea and scope for this game sounds insane. To have a completely open detailed world on planet, and then to be able to instantly get in your ship and go into space and go anywhere, to another planet, dog fight, and that be seamless? Idk. It almost sound too good to be true. But the idea sounds amazing for a SW game.
Yeah, people have been trying to make a game like this for years. Destiny, Star Citizen, No Man’s Sky, I even remember that old demo for Beyond Good and Evil 2 was just like this. Let’s see if either this one or Starfield manage to achieve it, hopefully the current gen practically non existent loading times thanks to SSDs finally make it possible
I think you are right in the sense it sounds to good to be true but the experience will probably sell the idea of planet to space free roam. I had a feeling the "seamless" transitions like spaceship on planet to space felt like a playable loading sequence...still playable but loading netherless. But overall if the experience seems seamless than i'll have no complaints. I'd be interested to know if this concept will be available for online

There's probably an internal competition going on for who gets to pick up BG&E2, and how massive ent. studios seems to incorporate a lot of elements that were planned for BG&E2, it's most likely that either the old staff working on BG&E2 were hired by massive ent. studios, or they want to compete to make BG&E2, with this as their try-out-game. Either way really excited how things turn out, they can't put BG&E2 on the backburner forever!
Most likely, the trailer has a ton of red flags present in the original watch dogs and original division trailers. Just ask yourself why they showed no open world footage in this open world star wars game.
Being ubisoft it probably wont have, or will be super shalow just alowing you to change colors of the clothes or if there is more clothes they will charge for it. I would only buy it knowing the story is good or that there's a deep character and ship customization.
The fact that ship flying over head wasn’t a cutscene or apart of the mission was pretty cool. Attention to detail like that makes me feel immersed. I’m still skeptical, and would like to see how I can customize and build this character. I also hope characters aren’t forgettable. Fingers crossed my friends!
Ubisoft made Starlink a few years ago which was a space toys to life game, and the space combat stuff looks like what is in this Star Wars game. Starlink was actually really awesome, and a pretty good game too, so this could be pretty promising. edit: in starlink you could fly between planets and land on them etc just like this showed. I feel like they will pull some stuff from that game.
We all know the elephant in the room. The main protagonist here is the weak part of the game, possibly the only thing holding It back. She's a brunette with a pet and an over confident personality that most people can't stand. Replace that with a silent, armored bounty hunter and you have perfection.
Ubisoft really nailed this and next year and pushed themselves forward. Avatar, Star Wars, The Crew and even Assassins Creed are looking really promising. Thank You!

It is not what I would imagine a good atmosphere to look like, if we are playing as a "simple woman making her way in the galaxy" ... we are an action superhero again :-(
Cant we for once get a game where stuff matters a bit? Take inspiration from Andor for a change and make it actually feel a bit real? Like that killing 10 people in a botched escape plan is actually a big deal? As it should be? That pissing of an imperial officer can actually be a real death sentence, not a minor inconvenience when taking off? Where the galaxy trully is a place where one has to find her way, instead of blasting her way through with the grace and inertia of a nuclear powered 30 ton bulldozer???

And yeah, there will undoubtedly be a downgrade to this. It's easy to make a small sample of a game look really good, it's a lot harder to apply it to a full game with a "vastly open-world". Not saying don't be excited, just be realistic about it.
It is an area of the Star Wars universe we haven't really gotten to explore as much, the relations in the underworld - and it is so cool to see the Empire in the midst of these outlaws, working closely with them like the biggest mafia there is! 😍 It almost makes them even more scary to fight against!

That’s a pretty good take on it. A lot of people seem tired of revisiting the Imperial era, but I think that’s because we keep seeing the Empire through the same lens every time: Empire evil and oppressive, so you fight them in rebellion.
Idk. But overall if the experience seems seamless than i'll have no complaints. I'd be interested to know if this concept will be available for online
You've got to remember that this game will not have over 1000 planets. Probably like 5 (including moons). So it's possible to do that seamlessly
It's not seamless. The cutscenes of the ship taking off was the loading screen. Hyperspace jumps serve as loading screens for the next area as well.
Looks pretty solid.Hopefully they deliver. We are in a serious need for a good open world Star Wars game
Was Jedi survivor not good ignoring performance issues?
@@chiefrocka8194I thought it was a great game ignoring performance issues. But it isn’t really considered open world
@@marcgw496I agree, and I think it's okay for different games from a similar/same genre do different things very well. What you don't get out of Survivor you'll probably get out of this and vice versa!

you do have that game. It's called Knights of the Republic. It's on pc

Can’t wait to see this trailer vs actual gameplay added to a “Ubisoft downgrades” compilation
I think it's what I was expecting Beyong Good and Evil 2 to be, to be honest. The feeling to just do missions on a planet and hop into your ship to get somewhere on the next one seems like my dream game loop! Can't wait to play!
I had same exact thought it resembles so much of beyond good and evil but with droids lol
I just want BG&E2 to exist, and play that excellent music from the Cantina and Race Track. PROPAGANDA!
Honestly, im half expecting this to be BGE2. Or a majority of its assets being cannibalized.
BGE is never seeing the light of day probably.
Will this be another bait and switch game like the original watch dogs?
Most likely, the trailer has a ton of red flags present in the original watch dogs and original division trailers. Just ask yourself why they showed no open world footage in this open world star wars game.
wow i was NOT expecting a gameplay trailer already. looks awesome so far. i just hope there's character customization.
Same here!
It's all pre-rendered scripted scenes, don't be fooled! Trailers are easy compared to having a bug free quality game at launch!
Being ubisoft it probably wont have, or will be super shalow just alowing you to change colors of the clothes or if there is more clothes they will charge for it.
I would only buy it knowing the story is good or that there's a deep character and ship customization.
4:03 I LOVE that detail. Your reputation with different syndicates changes based on actions. So cool

definitely. reminds me of no man's sky having reputation with species, and I love how you can exit the planet just like nms too.
This looks pretty fun I am glad we’re getting more Star Wars games.
My only gripe is I wish you can make and customize your own character. Other than that, this looks pretty good so far
It was almost definitely entirely scripted
Ubisoft made Starlink a few years ago which was a space toys to life game, and the space combat stuff looks like what is in this Star Wars game. Starlink was actually really awesome, and a pretty good game too, so this could be pretty promising.
edit: in starlink you could fly between planets and land on them etc just like this showed. I feel like they will pull some stuff from that game.
@@loganperry8637 less scripted than 30fpsfield
We all know the elephant in the room. The main protagonist here is the weak part of the game, possibly the only thing holding It back. She's a brunette with a pet and an over confident personality that most people can't stand. Replace that with a silent, armored bounty hunter and you have perfection.
@@JediMasterMusk I don't need silent, I just don't want out of place quips.
Act like a human already! (Edit: the character/s, not you :D)
This whole things looks just incredible.
Im not kidding when i say this is the most impressive thing seen in the entire Summer Game Festival.
Wow!
They sacrificed the Assassins Creed Mirage game for this......
Must have missed the Starfield deep dive.
Ubisoft really nailed this and next year and pushed themselves forward. Avatar, Star Wars, The Crew and even Assassins Creed are looking really promising. Thank You!
I have not played this game but somehow ive played about fifty games just like this! 0_0
This looks great! ND-5 is already one of my favorite droids we have gotten ever. I hope we get to customize our character. At the very least just the clothes.
It will be exciting having all 16 flavors of poncho ;)

@@UnchainedEruption Did they confirm this game will have poncho? If it will, that's a game of a year contendor for sure.
I think the part I didn't like the most was the combat but it didn't even look that bad at the same time, Pretty excited for this and I hope it turns out really good
Gameplay walkthroughs done by devs are known for not showing the gameplays potential. This guy looks like he just picked up a controller for the first time he’s moving so slowly
I think that first combat scene looks bad cause the guy playing has a super slow camera and sucks at aiming lol
Until they won’t make a stat wars game with clone wars content shoting droids on que it’s always gonna be bad, if this game was not called Star Wars it can be everything else
In a attempt at looking cinematic it makes the gameplay look slow and boring. I get what they are trying to do literally every game dev does this but its the quality of the player that makes the difference and obviously here they got someone who looks like they've never played a game.
they are making the gameplay cinematic on purpose, hes moving slowly and showing all the options so you can see what the posibilities are
real gamplay is so shaky to a viewer that its not good for a trailer
I’ve waited so long for a game like this from the Star Wars universe. Where I can take my ship to different planets or systems. Excited!
So like in KOTOR, KOTOR 2, Jedi Fallen Order, and Jedi Survivor? You take your ship to different planets in those games.
Jedi Fallen Order lets you do that too, albeit it doesn't have a space combat aspect like this one. You select the planet from the holodesk and you see the ship take off and enter hyperspace in real time in-game, no loading screens whatsoever.
you can do exactly this in LEGO Star Wars lol going from hyperdrive loading into the next planets orbit. its the exact same. only not lego.
@@zanfear You can do that in a seamless way in those games and control the ship? Really?
@@JC-kl3uc Who said it had to be seamless and have control over the ship? RajmaChawal surely did not.
