Which model is being used. This is important for making an informed purchase. Looks like it could be RIFE 4.6?

Im very sorry to hear that you're having issues with RenderBoost!
Please feel free to drop a message on BlenderMarket and I am sure we can find the source of the issue.
      Edit:
Thank you for reporting this bug the nature of the bug you are describing has been found, it is due to there being letters or characters in the filenames of the .PNG files, in the current build (0.0.7) the filenames can only contain numbers, this is automatically done when rendering if the file is not given a name for example 0001.png 0002.png. The current solution would be to remove any letters or any other characters from the filenames. This will be fixed in the next update.
Apologies for any inconvenience this has caused you I hope the solution above solves the problem, if not then please get in touch and we would be more then happy to assist you in solving this problem!

is there a way to get a 'stuttering effect' like a lot of 2d applications are using?

Thanks for your comment! RenderBoost is all about optimizing render times by reducing the number of frames that require rendering. While I'm not exactly sure which specific stuttering effect you're referring to, I appreciate your suggestion and will definitely explore it further for potential future updates.
If you're referring to the stuttering effect where frames are intentionally skipped to create a unique visual style, Blender actually offers a workaround to achieve something similar. Simply adjust the "Step" value in the frame range tab to 2, and Blender will render every other frame, resulting in that desired stuttering effect.
If you have any further questions or ideas, please feel free to reach out! :)
