I just bought their 11mm FF fisheye for something fun to play with. UPS dropped it off yesterday so I haven’t had a chance to go out and experiment with it. Really impressed with how well it is built. It’s actually quite heavy for its size. I was casually looking at manual 35mm lenses at the same time I bought this. It’s far to early to know what I would do if anything.

Hi Matt! As you know, I reviewed the 50mm version and I concur these are great little lenses for the price. The build quality is impressive--like little tanks. It's blossom time again so I'll be out making some more "dreamy" flower photos (if I can bring myself to take the Z 85mm f/1.2S off the camera😀)
I also like what can be done with these for video, even at FX.

This lens does look fantastic on the Zfc. If I owned one would seriously consider adding this lens for it. Great review Matt!!

Matt it's time to try out the Brightin Star 35 .95, it is said to be sharper wide open and covers more of the full frame sensor so more like DX plus.

Amazing, there isn't much of a difference, even less for the casual observer. Very nice review Matt.

I have the FF TTArtisan 11mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens and I was also quite impressed with the build quality. It is a fun lens to play around with and an excellent value, however it does seem a little soft as well when shooting wide open. While the TTArtisan 35mm version may be interesting, I believe that, even with the increased price, the Z 35mm f/1.8 would still be a better choice as an all arounder, and if money was an object, the Z 40mm f/2 may be the best bargain around.

I am looking at buying the 11mm f2.8 to use on my Z6. I have borrowed a friends 40mm f2 and think it is a very good lens.

I own this and a bunch of other TTArtisan glass. You really can't go wrong with them. They're nit clinically sharp; however, they ooze character and they're extremely affordable. Of course, if critical sharpness is what you're looking for, you can get it when you stop down a bit in the center and to an acceptable degree in the corners but for that you need to step down much more. Manual focus is not a big deal unless you shoot somewhat fast moving subjects. Furthermore, the build quality is very nice as these are all-metal bodies.

I have a few of these Chinese lenses for Fuji, Sony, Nikon 1, and have had a lot of fun with them, but like you said, they are for character and not critical sharpness. Because oof various gear trades, I find I have a surplus in the 35mm range. None of them work well on a full frame and I only have the Z5 at the moment. So 10 megapixel cropped images are okay for web, but don't print very well at 8*10 inches (20*25cm) what has been a little surprising is how tightly the 25 and 35mm lenses seem to vignette, but the TTartisans 12mm 2.8 barely clips the corners on full frame. The one I have is for Fuji X-mount, then I use a thin adapter to Z-mount, and it works. It's a fun testament to the versatility of these cameras and the shallow register distance of the Z-mount that we can get away with such kludgey adaptations.
Keep up the great work. I always appreciate your insights.

Hey, thx for the review (and all other videos btw).
So, at the 10:20 or 10:30 mark you talk about corner sharpness at f/0.95. I'd say this could/might be hard to interpret correctly. The DOF is very shallow at that aperture and the object is further away in the corner than at the center of the picture.
Don't you think the softness in the corner is partially due to this?
I know it gets harder and harder to make a lens sharp with lower f numbers.
    What's your take on this?

Great video as usual but I have a question...the bracket you have on your Zfc looks pretty cool. I can't find it anywhere...where did you get yours and where can I get one please??? Thanks very much for your help...Peace

Hey Matt, why do you say its a 50mm field of view equivalence, when its an APS-C lense, at 35mm? If it was an FX lens, then it would be 50mm on the cropped sensor? What am I missing?

    • @geedee3817
      @geedee3817 Год назад +1

its a 35mm APS-C lens, not a 35mm FF lens. Hence you have to multiply the 35mm focal length on APS-C by 1.5 x which should give you a 52.5mm FF equivalent focal length

Pretty much mirrors my experience with the TT 50 f1.2 which I actually think is a better value and also find more physically attractive. The 50mm did a fine job of separating the subject from the background and I prefer the longer focal length’s ability to do that over the 35mm. It’s a shame none of the DX bodies have image stabilization as it would make these high speed manual focus lenses even more useful in low light.

And their 90mm 1.25 is 5 times cheaper than the 85 1.2 ! The only thing I miss on it is the same - the stabilisation 🤠

The lens is a bargain. You just need to know what you’re getting before you buy it. Thanks for showing us what it can do.
Very happy 3rd party lenses are an option. This lens isn’t for me, but good to know it’s out there.
