- More classic Cass for all you Cassheads out there (of which I am one)!
This one I had edited for upload back in January of 2018 but...I forgot about it! It's been on the hard drive all that time-forgotten until I recently discovered it. Interesting thing here is-although we go to Bald Knob-this takes place before regular trips were run over the Spruce connecting track but we still took a side trip down it to Spruce itself, literally just for the heck of it. It would be another year before our regular trips up the former WMRY would happen-and before we'd see the Deep Cut.
And, of course-there's Western Maryland RY Shay #6 (aka "Big 6"). Incapable of negotiating the hypotenuse of the wye due to the curve being too sharp, it has to be moved onto then backed on the other legs of the wye, and make the remainder of the trip to Bald Knob in reverse.
These were the great days...before the year 2000. Can't remember everyone on the train crew, but you may recognize a few! Great trip here, as it's before the retirement of conductor Gerald Cassell-one of my favorite people at Cass.
So...how about another trip back in time!! We're going back to October 13 1997 here.

Haven't been there since 1989. I see at some point they put switch stands with banners on the hill to replace the old flop-over ground throws. Nice additions at Whittaker. I really need to get back there again!
I need to get back there myself! Was last there October 2016 but last rode May 2003. Much has changed since back then! That's when I last saw Whittaker, but I'll bet even that's probably different now. My October 2016 visit is part of my Day Odyssey Series. Thanx for viewing.👍

Those were good times-for sure!! Yes-had LOTS of fun doing this (and the other trips too)! When I was out there in October 2016 just didn't seem the same, but still worth the trip to hear Big 6's whistle as it arrived back at Cass! Brought memories back! Thanx again for viewing. 👌👍

I'm still around, Danny! Sorry I haven't responded sooner...been kinda busy. Responding to what you said: I really don't see any reason to come out and ask for subscriptions or positive comments. I'd rather viewers subscribe and comment because they want to, not because I told them to. Also-I might be offering box sets of my videos, and it's better to end the way I do than mention a social platform-better to be independent of one in that case. I do toot my own horn on occasion-I admit-but not more than I have to, unless I have something of interest coming up. I appreciate your thoughts, though. I just post my videos then see what happens. I like getting a few great comments rather than a lot of so-so ones. I do it for fun, really-but also great taking folks with limited mobility on drives they normally wouldn't be able to take. Good enough for me!
