      I know! It is a favorite video of mine It is a beautiful world that has gotten tainted by those who wish life harm. Talking about the recent Ohio derailing of train and setting Forever Chemicals on fire this after denying the rights of railroad workers conductors and engineers their rights to strike for fair contracts.
      What a world. We the good people will win and all will be cleansed.

    There is something very restful about watching the shunting at the end. Enjoyed this journey which must have been demanding with the heavy snow and strong winds. You could really see how much reflected the light the moon was giving up in the mountains.

    *It's a matter of magic atmosphere. It's all about that, for the viewer. I am italian. In 1998 I was in Norway, with an Avis car. Italy is one of the richest places on Earth, if we talk about Arts, History, natural views, everything. But going by car from Bergen to Oslo teached me that something BIGGER, wider, immense exists in Norway: Mother Nature's been generous, with Norway. By train, as I can now enjoy in my darkened room and full screen, is something MAGIC. I'd find perfectly normal to find a fairy or and elf coming out from nowhere... The sound is good as well. A big "Thank You" to RailCowGirl for this precious show.*

      @@RailCowGirl Even though I'm totally blind, I really, really miss train transportation, because it's severely lacking here in the Southern United States, and it's only getting worse. The air quality suffers, too, and I'm considering leaving the United States and moving back to France or somewhere else where I can obtain transportation and become more mobile and independent. I'm only 57, but my health is suffering over here, and I really need to get back to being mobile and free again, and I just love how amazing Europe is! Question: Do you operate any of these trains, or do you ride them? Like I said, I listen to the videos, as I can't see them. I can read all the comments and descriptions using text-to-speech software, and I hear what I'm typing, so I can correct any mistakes I make which is important to me.
      Anyway, thank you in advance for the feedback, and thank you so much for such amazing audio quality! I believe it's as important as the visual quality, because that's one way I can take in the "scenery". This channel makes me miss my job as a retired locomotive engineer, my favorite time of the year to run trains was in the winter during a snowstorm, I guess if I lived there I probably wouldn’t have retired

      @@RailCowGirl Ma'am, I'll bet the temperature up in those mountains--with the wind blowing snow--must have been -20 or so!

    A de-rail up in those mountains would not be good, How to you feel about passing through VOSS and seeing your old friends on the side track, must bring back some fond memories. I forget that all the switches are electrified to stay warm to prevent freezing .

    Have just begun watching and several comments on this great winter, nighttime video. Looks to me, from the map at the beginning, that this train took the northern route to Honefoss. Also at Geilo, as you were coming into the town, off to your left, were lights on the side of the mountain, ski slope by chance. Will continue to watch this westward trip.

    Give me a 2 to 5 car electric train in heavy snow & it’s just like operating on dry rails. Stopping & acceleration is virtually the same.

    • @RailCowGirl
      @RailCowGirl  2 года назад

      That totally depends on the snow, and what type of brakes your running as well as the temperature and amount of tunnels a long the route your running ;)

      @@RailCowGirl So are you a train operator? Obviously heavy diesel locomotive operation is different than light rail operation. I had several modes of braking to call on. Regenerative, disc braking, sand, track brake, & emergency braking. There are different types of snow, but after operating for almost 20 years, I came to realize that all snow is just snow, some wetter, some drier, but still snow. Ice is different as also are tree leaves, they are the worst.
      Also in the winter I suspect that your lines required ice cutters for your catenary wire?

    OK, here I am again, it's 18:00hrs July 12, 2024, in hot South Texas, and I must ride with RCC on one of the coolest rides on the net! If I turn the AC on high, it will add to the storm ambiance. Thanks once again RCC for another one of your fabulous trips!
