- I Finally Found Like-Minded Friends At 26 - This Is How / Hello people 🌱
Do you feel like you're surrounded by people but still isolated from the world? Do you have friends, but they lack the emotional depth you crave? I know exactly how that feels.
A few years ago, I realized that the friendships I had were more based on doing activities together, and I didn't have anyone to share my dreams, mental health struggles, or hardships with 😮💨
So I began my journey to find like-minded friends, and I want to share some tips with you.
First and foremost, be your own friend first. It's important to know which type of people you want in your life and what you want to give to others, not just get from them. The law of attraction states that we attract people who mirror our inner selves, so it's important to have a clear idea of who you are and what you want ✌️
Understand the actual importance of having like-minded friends. According to an 85-year Harvard study, close relationships are the key to a happy life. Having people around you who share your interests and values can help you feel more fulfilled and connected.
Next, put yourself out there. Don't expect others to find you; find them. Say yes to opportunities and join meetups or events of things that interest you. Online groups and meetings, as well as games and other hobbies, can also help you find like-minded friends 🎳
Realize the importance of having like-minded friends. If the only friends you have are from middle school and they're living toxic lives, it's probably not healthy in the long run. Having a lot of friends but not being able to talk about anything isn't fulfilling either. You can have friends and still feel lonely. I experienced this when I was living abroad; I had a lot of friends and people around me, but I felt like nobody understood me. It's important to pay attention to who you let come close and focus on building relationships with people who share your interests and values.
Once you find like-minded friends, make the relationships meaningful. If being an introvert is a disadvantage in the previous steps, it's a great advantage here. Ask them honest questions, not just do all the time something. Small talk will always happen, so prepare for it. Think of questions you would like to know when meeting someone or someone would ask you. Don't worry if they find it strange; it most likely means it's not a good match. I was able to change established relationships to deep and meaningful ones doing this ✨
Finally, make the relationships last. Consistency is key. Do projects or hobbies together, or if none, set up systems like meeting every Wednesday after work in a coffee shop. Investing time in building meaningful relationships with like-minded people can make all the difference in your life.
Hope you like this video! 😊

I have a distinct feeling that your followers and ppl commenting here would be good friend material for each other.
I think very much the same! Some plans regarding that also mentioned in the video 😏
agreed!
I literally met my last friend group on RUclips back in 2017 , there was a video called “how to meet spiritual friends” And we all met in the comment section, started Skyping one another and eventually we met up after 6 months in Florida , and had so much fun!
The problem is on RUclips and other apps you never actually know how mentally unstable the person on the other side of it is 😂😂 like me I wouldn't personally count my self as stablllle but I'm fine in society 😂 ide never like attack anyone or anything but I really struggle with life especially getting over insecurities
Today, I think people make friendships with their technology, not people. No one talks to one another. Walk into a restaurant or take the subway and everyone is looking at a small screen. These same people go home and look at an even larger screen, their computer, and end their day with an even larger screen, their television. Growing up in the sixties, coffee houses were the best places to meet people. Coffee and a good conversation - there was nothing like it. And I loved the poetry slams. Blessings to everyone on their journey.
Thanks for the great comment, Steven! 😊 I fully agree with you. We need to be more mindful when to use tech and when not to. It's so hard to watch families having dinner in a restaurant and not talking to each because of scrolling. I have a lot to learn myself in this but I'm happy I'm more aware of it these days!
The most unfortunate thing about my friendship life is that I actually did have a good friend group with people that wereso so good to me.
Sadly some friendships don't last forever. And now I lost friends I had known since I was 12, and I am 17 now with no friends. I will never get back that beautiful friendship.
Never say never, my friend. I have reconnected with my childhood friends after 10+ years so it's not impossible. But try to focus on improving yourself, and being available to new opportunities and people. When a door closes another one opens eventually. All the best!
@@SunnyKindJourney How do you find the balance between slow living and being available to new opportunities and people?
@@blakejones9413 I mainly just listen to myself. If I feel I need more time for myself, I take that. If feel I am mentally in a good place, I am available for new opportunities. I think it's important to learn that it's okay to say no at any point even if you thought you had time and energy but then end up getting overwhelmed
I always felt pretty isolated as a child and teenager. Sure I had friends, but no real deep, meaningful connections. It wasn't until my mid-twenties where I found like-minded friends with similar values and dreams. Now I finally have people I can talk about pretty much anything with, and that's a great feeling. I can count all my close friends on one hand, but I am really happy and proud to have them :D
That's so awesome! Our journeys sound very similar! 😊
How did you find them?

I loved your statement to be your own friend first. Very clever.
Thank you! 😊
I just don’t want my conversations and I’m talking about a very specific type of conversation, to be one-sided anymore. When I say that, what I have in mind is like when GildedGuy’s Story 8 or Indigo Park came out, rather than me more or less broadcasting it to close family and work mates who probably didn’t remember, I wish I could’ve had someone close who was equally as hyped about it as I was. Someone who I could nerd-out with for maybe hours?
Someone I can share my own works and ideas with; the kind I wouldn’t post publicly. Someone who’d post back. We could push each other to create things for the public and test our limits again and again.
The things I’m the most passionate about: story telling (books, animations, video games, online communities), liminality everywhere from the grand to the mundane, learning skills and problem solving, being thoughtful about broad ideas (and integrating that into my art), isolation, admiring the art and design about experiences and the little thing that make them great (the ins and outs of what makes an individual roller coaster unique).
I want to write more and make friends around my most passionate of things.
The kind of friendship I want to avoid: un-committed (I could easily fall guilty of this, knowing how I tend to commit to thing on a compromised basis depending on my mood), yes-people (I need to lead deep conversations because if I pair up with someone who’s equally as passionate but also awkward then we’re going to have a lot of conversations like “oh yea, that’s pretty cool…” or “yeah, it is a little like that” or even just “nice”).
Exactly, and when it feels like people around us are very different.
Ive noticed in my own life that the like minded and forever friends jump out of nowhere along the path of life. I never had to look for them but they are few and far between. Few is fine by me, im not a social butterfly.
I feel the same! 🌱
This is all solid advice! I am 45, still figuring it all out, and mainly trying to like myself because I have found it doesn't matter who I am with, my worst enemy is still there!!!
Thanks Stuart! ✌️ It's a journey that lasts a lifetime 😊
There are some great tips in here - I especially like the point about small talk and changing the nature of established friendships by asking deeper questions. I’ve tried to do that in the past, and in some cases it works and in some it doesn’t, but in those ways it also helps you figure out existing relationships you should focus more on. Thanks for making a video on this topic! 😊
Yeah definitely! Thanks for the great comment 🙌
0:01 yes everyday 😢
30 here and I still struggle with this. The struggle is really difficult, but it's worth it to discover quality friendships.
Yeah I agree! And to be honest I think it's something that comes and goes as we evolve during our lives, not something we get once and that's it forever. Thanks for the comment!
@Seve - Sunny Kind Journey Yeah absolutely! Relationships are always changing so it's something we're always working at.
really needed this video thanks, at age 26, im still struggling to find like-minded people who i can learn from, relate to, and have good influence - with gratitude, LaynoProd 🙏🏽👨🏽🎨
Hope the video was helpful! Thanks for the comment and all the best 😊
“Of all the means to insure happiness throughout the whole life, by far the most important is the acquisition of friends.” Epicurus.
Friends matter, even having just one good friend has helped me through some difficult times. Finding your "people" is hard and one generally has to step out of one's comfort zone to find them.
Well said 🙌🏼
Wanna see if we could be compatible friends?
Thank you so much, I was feeling really lonely lately because even though I have a lot of friends, I don’t really have much in common with them and watching this video really helps open my eyes and realize that I need to get myself involved more with clubs, meetings, and social activities so that I can meet people like me that I actually have stuff in common with
Glad to hear this was helpful and you are already planning to take action! 😊
This couldn’t have come at the most perfect time in my life. You are doing amazing work! Bless you🙏🏻
Glad it was helpful 😇 Thanks for watching!
Strange that someone who emphasizes meaningful relationships based on shared values and commonality should pose a question about the quantity of close friends it is desirable to have. It's the quality, not the quantity, that counts. Better to be alone than badly accompanied!
Great point and I agree with your thoughts 😇 I changed the pinned comment to something that was better thought off - thanks for pointing it out!
Lol I'm 54 and still searching, well actually stopped searching. I just accept there is no one who thinks the way I do, so I just get on with my life alone and try to tolerate everyone else lol
Yeah sometimes stopping searching doesn't mean giving up, I found my partner when I finally stopped searching for one and accepted my singleness. Life is strange sometimes. Sending much love 🥰
Your videos give me so much inner peace ✌️ just listening to the way you speak, your accent and your tone makes me less anxious. And all the topics you talk about are so important and I’d like to thank you for your great content 👌 greetings from Scotland 🏴
Thank you so much, Sebastian 😊
Another thought provoking video Seve. I think that friendships is one area of life that we can forget to put effort in to.
Thanks! Yeah, especially if you are into simple and slow living like many that watch this channel and have sometimes hard time finding like-minded friends. Hope this video was helpful!
iam 28 and i don't have any friends . i hang out with my brother and his friends . but i want my own only 1 friend .
Thanks for this video about building meaningful friendships throughout life. There are several videos on You tube that are made from people that are in their 20's or 30's and they say they have no friends. I hope they see this video to help them with ideas to build the relationships, to make a more meaningful journey through life.
Yeah, I have seen them too and I think they make others who don't have so many friends feel more safe and supported. I thought to create this video to share what help me to build those friendships, hoping some of the people who enjoyed those videos and struggle with making friends will find this one helpful. Thanks for watching Ben 🤗
Hello Seve :) Thanks a lot for this video, it has given me o lot to think about. I´m quitting my convenient 9-17 job next month as a part of my journey towards more meaningful life. A lot of colleagues have been friends and suddenly I´ll stop meeting them regularly. You made me realize I´ll have to be much more active to meet people now (both old friends and new).
You´re amazing Seve, I´m always looking forward to your new videos :)
Oooh thank you Aly! ❤️ Good luck with your next step! I'm sure it will go well 😊 What are you planning to do after quitting?
@@SunnyKindJourney I´m opening an eshop with handmade wares, like decorated drinking horns and leather stuff. Quite a change after being a bank officer 😆 I´m soooo looking forward to it. You and some other youtubers gave me courage to finally make this step ❤
@@aly.kelterborn Awesome! 😇🙌🏼
A simple indicator of how well you have developed into person at this point in your life is how you so easily and readily smile at a small bit of humor you find in your dialogue. Thank you for sharing your journey and for doing such a good thing here. To end on a bright note: spring has arrived here in Maryland, USA, so it must be right around the corner in Finland...
Yesss, only some weeks and I can start to film outside again without freezing my nose off haha 😄 And yeah, I'm growing so much as a person when making these videos!
@@SunnyKindJourney Remember: you're growing as a person as long as you aren't losing any body parts...
@@Mark723 Love that 😄
I totally understand this. I do have people in my life that I find commonality with in certain aspects, but the other aspects of my personality are ones I really long and need to share with someone who understands me. I'm choosing associates carefully and taking risks. Thanks for this video, I related with it as I also care about deeper relationships moreso than surface-level.
8:47 😂 that was funny and cute! This was a really good video, rewinded a couple of times and noted down things to remind myself about them as often as possible.
🥰🥰 Awesome Rachel!
Me too!
This is your best video. Thanks. Greetings from Croatia. 😀
Thank you very much Dejan! 😊
Just love your motto to be kind brother❤️Let's be friends!
talk not touch is Common in the media area. complain or say something really important, to show and spoil over. forgetting to listen or to ask questions. Thats a sign of our media community, you get input but have no communication.
of course we often meet just any people we aren’t near of inner consciousness and have less reflection. That’s pity and sad. We belong to more contact but unable to do or willing to make that Daily friendly little speech, we all miss and needed. Englishpeople are very common in that, by weather talking.
people who mirror our innerself is a good reflection.
how you stay friends without going to their regular meeting?
You are a blessing! Such wisdom. I appreciate these videos.
Thank you ❤️
I love to live alone like u and i like u r tought 👍🏻 from india
Nice i could use this
Thanks for watching! 😎
Great video! Exactly what I’ve been struggling with lately
You got this! ✨
Bro love from India ❤ you deserve more numbers
Thank you, Vikram 😊
I have good friends/half of them inconsider school friends but the thing is that i like trying new things, doing «weird/embarassing» things, or outside activites. and almost all they walk about is how weird other people are and what movies/series their watciing.
i have always tried to get them to join things or try new things but they always come up with some excuse to not want unless if it consists of sitting ans watching movies while eating like i find 99% of my friends boring af. But i have this one friend and shes my fav but i cant contuine on on,y asking her cause ive came to a point where am desperate to not waste my teenage years and i only ask her cause shes an everything friend. like i could ask her to go on hiking trips but also shopping yk? varitation of everything. but i cant ask her forever cause she may have to prioritze school cause were in diffirent classes
oh and when it comes to oppuritnites my ffiends always say like «nooo that perosn is there/the popular kids are there» blbkablaaa like omg are u that worried to see some kids from our school?? but st the same time i wont go anywhere without a friend cause i cant hold a convo without sounding stupid lmao
i dont mind having friends that have differing values as I believe that offers new perspectives but ALL of my friends but 1 have differing values from me so its very much at odds with what I'm looking for in life.
If you feel like that, it could me beneficial to expose yourself to new environments, experiences and people. You might find more like-minded people or even realize that your old friends are after all quite similar to you 😊
Yo, i think i have the same problem as you right now. Nobody understands me and I feel like I can't share things that I really want to do with my so called "friends". I'm in Middle school right now, and maybe it will change in the future when i'm going to College or something.
I am sure things will changes for you. I am not friends with 95% of people anymore I was back in middle school. You'll find the people who you can trust fully and be yourself around with. The most important is that you just stay you 🌿
@@SunnyKindJourney Aww, such kind words! Thank u :)
Are you an INFJ personality type by any chance, Seve?
Almost! ISFJ 😎 Great guess though!

Thank youuu 🥰🥰 Sending it back!
This is a great for me ❤
Glad to hear that! 😇
Guys i am 14 and still dont have any good friends, atleast not friends that have my phycology, they all act like they want nothing in lifes. Honestly im better off alone. I have tried making friends in other ways but it never works, im so desperate that now i came on YT to find like minded friends😅...
It can take time. 14 is still young, same as 26 😊 Stay real and the right people will come to you eventually

Well, perhaps not exactly on this topic but the mindset behind all this - The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson 🙌
@@SunnyKindJourney Thanks Man 🧡 Could you also suggest your favourite or top books on bouncing back after failure & increasing thoughtful preparation, taking massive action in the face of uncertainty..
@@mohibquadri4053 If you are not yet familiar with fixed and growth mindsets, the book Mindset by Dr Carol Dweck is a must read. If you are, one that I keep going back to is High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard which is a very practical book 👍🏼
7:23 is this a friendship or a job interview? I’m so lonely 😭

Sorry not hating! Just feel you're WAY MORE BLESSED THAN YOU THINK.
Yes, I am definitely grateful! 😊
whats ur opinion about antinatalism?
Had to research that term so not really experience or opinions regarding this. Have to educate myself more 😄 What's yours?
You want to stay away from poker and never go there. It has destroyed many lives financially and emotionally.
Haha I know, our games were just hanging out and not playing to win money, more like a community thing 😄
@@SunnyKindJourney I understand. But sometimes we go out of curiosity and have good intentions but if the place is like casino, many people couldn't control themselves and got addicted. Sometimes people who play gambling can be a bad influence too. They have successfully led others to gambling.
It's good you don't go there anymore. I made my comment towards anyone so someone can be saved.
@@EvaCFricke Yeah, great comment from you as it was something I didn't mention in the video even though I agree with you 🙌🏼
The problem is, there is nowhere to actually meet people. Just existing in the same place is not the same thing as being allowed to actually interact.
Your empty self-help platitudes are worthless.
We have the same problem! I dont drink so i dont go to bars and what does that leave for social places ??
