Oh! The Mermaid Fantasy doll has an action point in her hips! Squeeze them inward with a finger on each hip and her knees bend - you can do it repeatedly and it looks like she is swimming! I'd keep the one in box until you are sure you want to open her. You have so many other dolls to open and play with, you can wait until she tells you what she wants.

I would honestly keep her in the box. There's always a chance to open the box but when you do then it's done it can't be undone. My crystal Barbie is in box so you're not alone.❤❤

Your Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie looks stunning and the box does too! Maybe keep her in the box for now and focus on unboxing any Barbies in less good condition boxes. That being said, I feel sure you'll make the right decision for you and your collection and trust your instincts 💜😊

I haven't commented in awhile, but my neice and I just binged watched some of your videos. We love them all! I asked my niece whether she would want the Jewel Hair Barbie in a box (worth more money) or out of box. She said she wouldn't sell the doll because of it reminding her of you :) She said ask your kids if they would want to sell her or keep her. I thought that was a very wise thought process and wanted to pass it on.
I'm not sure if you remember but we were working on a doll makeover. It was a doll that was injured "rescuing tigers from a waterfall....." (aka doggie got her). We have finished her makeover and she looks wonderful. My niece named her Regit, (tiger spelled backward). She has a full story and a small pet tiger next to her on here doll stand. Her scars are now painted with "tiger" stripes and she has a black and orange flowiing dress and cape with a hood. Thank you so very much for being such an inspiration!
Oh I loved this so much it nearly made me cry. Sat here with blurred teary vision. That’s the best story and adventure ever! your doll makeover is EVERYTHING! Your niece has the best imagination (and advice) and I love the name of the doll so much. Honestly if I could sum up why I collect in one comment it’s this one!!!! Both pink & Lilac new mermaid dolls have the Odile face sculpt. They look so different, but same sculpt. I have this one in a 2022 red hair Holiday Barbie & she looks even much different than these two.

Honestly, I say keep your vintage 1995 Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie NRFB!!!!!!!! Display her as she is!!!!!!!!! The box itself is so very pretty!!!!! As for the remaining dollies, sure, unbox them to your heart’s delight! I love color & design, and I said my favorite shade of pink is Poochie pink! I love my colors anchored with a slug of black, especially pink & black🩷🖤…..or black & pink🖤🩷😊❕ I would never want my various collections - dolly or other - to end up at some charity shop after I’ve passed on; they’re much too special and not the kind of goods one would typically find at any charity shop anyway. The middle Barbie Mermaid is your best of three unboxed and exposed!!!

I agree about keeping the vintage Jewel Hair Barbie in box, she is in such good condition :) you might find one out of box, then you could display both. I'm mostly an out of box collector, but I think I would leave a nice vintage doll in box. Seeing the boxes can also be very nostalgic and keeping a few favourites in box is a nice reminder of seeing them in the shop? if the box was damaged or the doll deteriorating then it is good to restore them, but she looks brand new so I think she would be worth keeping as is. I think she is becoming one of the iconic barbies of that time, so it is a bit of history too, in that way the dolls, boxes and their artwork also have value as memorabilia. As a mermaid I think she displays well in box with all her accessories, but I can see how it would be a dilemma to unbox or not, so it might depend on the doll and as others have said, she could be unboxed later.

I think I would keep her in box for now you can always change your mind in her future but once out there’s no going back xx

Omg, so weird...we have the opposite mermaid issue here in the U.S....We can now get the Lilac hair doll, but can't get the pink hair one. I have the lilac one, but ordered the pink hair in February & still waiting!

I think it sounds like you are not ready to unbox her and that’s ok. She isn’t going anywhere so you can just leave her as is in her box and still enjoy looking at her. If you don’t decide to unbox her at all and save her for your kids to decide at some point that is totally fine too. You don’t have to become a totally out of box collector or a only in box collector.

the purple mermaid sculpt and the yellow mermaid are called the odiel face sculpt she was also used on the 2022 holiday Barbie the red head version rebodied her onto a made to move body as well, they’re usually $10 here in the us and have only been spotted at one retailer and that has been Walmart, I check target every day and there’s no spot for those mermaids on the shelves there but my stores tend to mix things up quite often so whenever I go in I’ll see old releases that should have been on shelves months ago and then I’ll see a few new items that hardly anyone has seen so I tend to buy those first but I’m on a low buy playline doll budget and haven’t really seen anything I like. I was going to keep my original 1977 superstar Barbie in box but her box was damaged and I cracked her open unfortunately her body broke but luckily I had another superstar body around so there was no harm there

My vintage Peaches & Cream Barbie was mint in box, and she cost James and my kids a fortune. They surprised me with her a few years back for Christmas. She was out of the box in a matter of minutes. I feel inspired to start a doll Instagram Candy. Thinking on a name for it. It's up to you, but go with your gut. And you sound unsure. If in doubt.. do nowt. When she is out, she's out. 🍑

In the US I havent been able to fond the new mermaid one you have and i have given up for now but the purple one is available easily now. I want the one you have too 😭. Don’t open the barbie jewel mermaid- try to thrift her instead to have 1 out of box. Her box looks so pristine. I just saw the second vintage mermaid and the aa version of that one at a thrift store yesterday! I had never seen them before and they still had their crowns and braids I left them there though for someone else to get
I’d love to find her thrifted. Even second hand on eBay out of box she’s around £60

I know you have a lot of other dolls to unbox still so I would just leave her in the box until you feel like unboxing her. maybe that's never. I wouldn't really worry on your kids' behalf though - it's not as though it's an enormous sum of money, and being as there are three of them, they themselves might not agree about selling her or not. you feel torn about it now, but you might have clarity after you've unboxed everything else.

I have a 90's Mermaid Barbie, the blue one. I bought her in Wolverhampton in the 90's. I have some Barbie from this "Wolverhampton" era. I have sometimes 90's nostslgia, all the grunge bands from Seattle. It was great musically not only for Barbie!
I don't like the pixelated faces on the new Barbie dolls. It ruins them for me. I am ok buying the ones I like in carboot sales. MH G3 quality does not impress me either. Sometimes I think it is because I got used to omgs/SH/RH amazing hair quality and details.
I don't like Fashionistas very much either. They are too realistic for me. I also don't care about body diversity. The last thing I want in a doll is realism. I collect the early Fashionistas with articulations. They are quite difficult to find so no risk of accumulation! 😉😁
