6:33 when welding tool's arm like this one, it's better to plan for a conical cut of the two sides and rude prepa of the surface and fill the whole space with welding matter, it provide more grip and solidity, i am sure you know that but you didn't apply it because perhaps you think there's no huge tension on this arm, anyway great work as usual and your metal hand file skills and controls are outstanding
Beautiful work, sir! Filing everything down smooth is apparently an enormous amount of work, but I tell you that you can clearly see the difference! This was a fantastic renovation!
Beautiful work as always my friend! Great filming and editing, beautiful shots. Always a little sad when a video is over, because I have to wait till the next one comes out 😄
Great job, When you chopped the threaded end off, I would of chopped it a bit further down . Then drilled and tapped the end and used a fully threaded bolt and screwed it in then welded it. That part needs to be strong, if it's going to be used.
Nice job and a pleasure to watch. Bit surprised at the beginning you didn’t try heating the stiff nut with a blowtorch to expand it. May have saved damaging it. Also recutting the threads on shaft and nut. Might have been better than doing the welding job which I don’t see will be strong enough to hold the parts together when using the wrench and will break over a period of time.
Another one saved from the grave Mr P. Enjoyed the process as always. Your determination to do it right and well are, as usual, an inspiration to all us novice restorers in RUclips land! Thank you so much for sharing your talent once again!!!
I have watched this video 3 times, so good. These tools you restore, like this beauty of a wrench, were formally mistreated or used for something it wasn't designed to handle hence it bent and someone discarded or sold it. I am glad you take the time to put these tools back into working order, Bravo on another fine restoration!
this tool has never been so beautiful is well finished, sir patina you work miracles with not much, 1000 bravos you make sure thank you for this video @soon
I like many of your viewers, love to restore antique tools and equipment. I subscribe to many other restoration channels but you are my absolute favorite. Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you do, it has given me hours and hours of entertainment and new ideas for my own projects. Thanks man.
Need to bevel each end before you weld for a more stronger weld. It won’t be long before that weld fails. It’s easy to see when you grind it down. Other than that, great work!
Wow, another one I thought was beyond saving, awesome job, quite probably better than new. Neat idea to use the chuck stock of the lathe to brace the thread cutter square on to the handle shaft. Good comment re the weld, bevelling the edges prior to welding gives a channel around the join for the weld material to accumulate into hence stronger weld.
I like the nice finish of the parts. Good work with the scotch brite. And nice to see you enjoy my little birthday present
Thanks a lot my beery friend!
That's a very nice adjustable hammer.
Ach, auch, wer ist Dr. Beer?
That’s what the pre owner said
Ein Freund von mir, schau mal auf RUclips nach „not terrible restorations - by Dr. Beer“
Nice video colleague . Good restore . 🥳💪
Thanks mate ✌️
Nice outcome pal👏 I feel the pain in that enormous time of filing and sanding 😅
Haha, you’re absolutely right man! Thanks a lot!
