Alexanderwerk gibts immer noch, sogar in USA, schon nicht übel, wenn eine Firma so lange überlebt! Klasse Restauration, chic auch der Kelterlack für innen, hab ich nie von gehört! :-D
Well done ! Nice restoration job! 👍👏 As I also have old kitchen utensils with similar drum, I was wondering what they were covered with and also how to sharpen all the small holes?... You answered 1 of my 2 questions about the drum : cover it with nickel plating. Remains the 2nd question 😉 . Instead of the bottle 🍺(to push the food) you could make a wooden pusher, with a square shape to slide into the top of the device. And a semicircle shape for the side of the drum. With a rim at the top (wider than the square opening of the device) to stop the pusher and prevent it from being grated. I have 1 electric grater from the 60s that has a pusher with this shape...
Haha, hey Domi! When these Graters came out there was a wooden block (like you said) originally with them. The problem was, that i found out later, after the video came out. If i wouldve knew before, ive made a new wooden block. Youre definitely right! :-)

Great restoration, but I think I would have left it rough I would not have filed or sanded it down, that's what made it special that's what made it unique not like something you buy off the shelf that all million of them looked the same
So did Alexanderwerk produce every household item that there is for a German household? They must have been a massive company. they seem to have made everything.
Beautiful Mr P.! Like the way you nickel plate the pieces that came that way too. Was wondering why the wire brushing before sandblasting? Is that what I should do if I ever get a sandblaster? Thank you and all the best from North Carolina!
Hey Roger! Since my old sandblaster was pretty hard to handle, i just sandblasted the corners and hard to reach spots. With a good sandblaster (like my current one) you could blast this whole thing without brushing before. Lead test has to be negative!
@@misterpatina thank you for the information! I know you are really busy but please indulge me another question. Is there specifications I should know before purchasing a sandblaster? I would like to have a decent one but not the best or most expensive. Thank you very much!!!
You’re definitely right. But I wanted to get rid of most of the old paint before sandblasting, otherwise all the loosened paint would be in the sandblasting cabinet 😄
So very satisfying to see the cast marks go away, for me at least. Question, is the grease you use for pieces like this one rated food grade, and/or is that not a thing there?
Hey James, thanks for watching and thanks for your comment 🙂 The grease I used isn’t food grade, but i don’t think it’s a Problem because it doesnt „Touch“ anything. But you’re right, olive oil would’ve been a better way for greasing it :-)
Your work is done to perfection, as usual. But I consider it absolutely not recommended to use this grinder for food use. You will understand for yourself that whatever paint you can apply, there will always be an interaction with the one it comes in contact with.
