I love that you two are having this friendly competition. Excellent job, I love the 'herringbone' effect of the wooden pieces. I've watched both videos, so I'm off to vote now.

Mister P! You let yourself down and you let me down. You need to go away and have a long hard think! I mean, leaving the horrible letters on the cheap new bolts! Shame! However Dr. B, whilst it blew Mr P. out of the water, that pinstriping was shockingly shoddy. Conclusion: Room for improvement but Dr B slam dunks it. Rematch. Best of three! 🧡
This is great. I came here from Mister Patina and having seen references to you and comments from you in his videos. The fact that you guys are friends in real life and interact in real life and through these videos is very cool. You two have provided hours of entertainment for me and your videos help me mentally. Thank you both so much.
This has to be the best restoration you've ever done on this channel! This shear was revived from the dead! The mounting table had your own style in design. It gives the finished project its own individuality. This was outstanding!
I remember this comparison you had and I knew you would win because you take it to another level. The other chap does a great job of restoring things but you always go the extra mile by making your restoration better than it was when new.🇬🇧👍
Most excellent! You both did amazing jobs. Sorry, but I have to give it to Mister Patina. I feel he stayed truer to "restoration" without additions or modifications.
I love the look and especially the base you made. You took the time to make it versatile and UN-complicated. Your work is very good and I enjoyed the video. What you did made it go over the top compared to Mr. Patina. Although Mr. Patina made it simple yet elegant in doing. Loved both. For showmanship, you win. For being competitive and simple, he does. thanks to you both.
Love the way you restored that old wooden shipping crate! It look better than it was originally! Two restoration projects, one for the cutter, and one for the shipping crate!!
😊 very nice, love the addition of the wood grip, so much more comfortable for the user. Bonus points for the wood joining. Loved both videos, but I vote for you on the win. 👍
Patrick
For me you are the winner. The metallic paint and stripe matched the original, the base and handle were an incredible addition to what would be expected as a standard. Superb.
Dr B., this was fun to watch and that you were in 'competition with Mr P made it even more so. Nicely restored and very well filmed. Thanks for sharing.
Love the work. The only thing is on the reassemble, adding a drop of greese or oil to every thread or moving part will help prolong the life of the tool as it will cut the wear down. I absolutely love the handle and base improvements.
Excellent work!! I'm a big fan of the cold blueing- that tipped my vote to your side on the battle :) The yellow pinstripe paint needed to be a bit thicker for a better coating but I appreciated the style! Double points for repurposing the ply for the handle and secondary base, very resourceful! MORE BATTLES!
The work here is beyond gorgeous. You did everything required for a great showdown, plus you included a delicious beer review! Next up, you guys should get together and do a collaboration on a single BIG project together! I salute you, Dr. Beer!
My son and I are huge fan of restoration videos and this event was great. We've voted for you because of your attention to detail and the extra mile you went. Fantastic work !
Very nicely done. Amazing how precise one of those metal cutters can cut things. Once you use one, you can't figure out how you did without one all the years. Thumbs Up for sure...
Having watched both videos I'm giving my vote to you, Dr. Beer. The shears were similar but not identical. I feel you got the more difficult shear to restore. You both did good restorations of the shears. However you made two mounts, one for mounting on a work table and the wooden mount, which was excellent. You also made a very nice wooden handle. Mr. Patina didn't make mounts or a handle. You did pin striping on the body, which matched the pin striping on the original. Plus, of course, you evaluated a beer.
Mr. P ran into a buzz saw in this challenge. You took each and every step to the next level. The handle was the best example, the herringbone pattern was centered on the handle, the holes were right down the centerline and the screw slots aligned with the centerline. Masterful work sir, makes me -round to be a patron. Thanks, Ed
Off to watch Mr Patina's video, but you've set a high bar with your one! One of things I love about these kinds of restorations is the reuse of things in a "disposable" age, and the upcycling of the wood was an excellent example of this.
Entry: 4/6 - tasty on first look but not sensational Aftertaste: 6/6 - enjoyed the iron filings Body: 6/6 - loved the body work and woodworking Colour: 8/6 - perfect pinstripping Bitterness: 4/6 - pleasant sand blasting Acidity: 5/6 - loved the zinc plating and cold blueing Fizz: 8/6 - after so many hours of work on the craftsman part ... it was very refreshing to watch 41/42 .... Rank # 1 / 2 ... Definitely would watch again
I am unable to choose a definitive winner in the competition because you both showcased your amazing talent as craftsmen. You did an awesome job and having the rivalry was great fun for me as the viewer.😊
Ihre Restaurierungsarbeiten sind in jeglicher Hinsicht außergewöhnlich. Die Videos sind von toller Qualität. Es macht Freude diese Arbeiten online verfolgen zu können
I watched both restorations....both Mr Patina and yourself did incredible work....but your wood working puts yours over the top. It's an incredible detail to add.
Awesome restoration!. Your videos are also going from strength to strength. And although I haven't watched MrPatina's video yet, I already don't want to have to choose!!! 😁
Tough decision. You both are very good. But that wooden base made my mind! I have enjoyed the battle enormously, anyway. Please do more like this one! Thank you very much.
This was a great idea! Friend amongst friend having fun doing what they love. This has to be one the toughest decisions I've had to make in a while. Mr. Patina was definitely up to challenge though with his magic tricks (snapping fingers and prep work magically being done!)... But beer... And wood workery was an equally impressive touch! I have voted, but my hat is tipped to the both of you! Well played, fellas! 🥂

This is an overwhelming Renovation! The device looks like new - with the wooden base maybe even better - and works perfectly. You have a lot of attention to detail. A wonderful video! Thank you!
Both are outstanding! The two machines are not exactly the same. The end result function is the essential thing. For function, Dr. Beer hand sanded the blades, removing less metal, and did not use shims. Was that a difference in the blades, one set more worn than the other?? Both cut metal as required. For paint, Dr. Beer wins, for more thought, and I happen to love that look and color. For the base and handle ... WOW! And interchangeable two bases are better than one. (The parts about nickel plating bolts, then turning, confused me. Mr. Patina was less complicated, but the video progress was clearer.) In this competition, Dr. Beer! But what about the next one?? Different skills?? Who will win that??
Hey dave thank you for the outstanding Feedback. I have to ask, since youre the second one to think that i turned the screws after plating. I did not Do so. Maybe the chapter headline was confusing. I first sandblasted, then sanded and turned, then plated
@@NTRprojects --- Yes, at 7:46 the red chapter heading say "Zinc Plating" (and "Chapter 3"). I thought, "Oh, OK, those are zinc plated parts". Liked the Bob Ross reference with the, ' happy little accident', line. That base is phenomenal. Seen from the right angle it has a 3-D look, like a huge stairway. Greatly pronounced during the oiling. Very well done.

Of course it would turn out great. But sorry the part that I really loved from this video is actually the wood base 😂😂 Great work nonetheless! How long did it take you two to complete the project? I bet the sanding alone is really time consuming 😂 Heading to watch Mister Patina now!
Ha, I was about to comment on the gauge of the metal but sure enough you snipped the thicker one at the end - well played! That woodwork is amazing and the restoration is beautiful, thanks for sharing!

This was a SHEAR pleasure to watch both videos and to see your unique restoration. Awesome seeing the Festo being used, love its look. Great job very cool to see how you lined up the design and placed the bolt holes in the pattern of the handle.
Great restoration. They only thing I'd do different would be adding some more rubbers stoppers about centre of the wooden base. I imagine there will be lots of force at that point. Or adding some metal reinforcement.
what did you restore??? you just clean and paint
