I wish my grampa was still alive to share your videos with him. He he loved hand tools and restoring thins but he didn't speak english so your videos would had been ideal.
My grandma died less than a month ago, and restoration videos are one of the only things keeping me going through not only the sadness, but also the fallout after she died. There are so many things of hers and my grandpa's that I would love to restore. I think you've done a wonderful thing and your grandmother would be proud.
This is the most beautiful bread slicer I’ve ever seen. My grandma in Germany had one just like it. I always hoped to get it some day, sadly never happened. I was devastated, it would have meant the world to me. Thank you for the upload. ❤️🙏🫶🏻❤️🙏🫶🏻
If I had all the tools you have, I could restore the bread slicer from my grandmother which I still have. The blade is a bit rusty and I don't know how to clean it without chemicals. Mine is older than yours, we used it when I was a child in the 70 until we brought sliced bread. I love to watch restoration videos and I am never disappointed. I learn a lot and your restorations are very good.
Totally agree frank. And I don't know if I communicated that at all, but for me this is my personal interest when I start a new project. I want to get a feel for the product when it was once new. Glad you share this feeling
I have no doubt that this slicer looks better now than when it was new! You are 50% scientist, 50% strategist, 100% artist! Extraordinary video ! Thank you, I really enjoyed it.
I can't believe I missed this one. The finished restoration was not only beautiful, but improvements to its performance were enhanced! Everything was well done, andaffirms your skill, and patience. Thank you for posting!
Better than new. We had the same type of bread slicer, with an arrangement to alter the width of the slices. Never realized how much work there was involved to make such a simple gadget. Vediograpy was excellent.
Hey Anna so glad to hear that you liked it so much. I also love it. Plywood is underrated I think the layers are just meant to be highlighted more often
Man! You've outdone yourself this time Doc!! I don't know where to begin??? You've made Granny proud to begin with. I'm sure she would love it. The color is amazing. The nickel and blued parts turned out nicely, especially the nickel, you do an awesome job at that. Notches in the blade was a nice touch. The bread looks delicious and was a great finish to the video. I really appreciate this one!!!
I love to see old appliances restored and used again. It's almost like having family from long ago with me again. I loved this restoration so much, even the color made it really wonderful to want to use again. I could so easily use one of these. From what I can see it definitely resembles the type Ritter made in the late 1800's/early 1900's, It's the only one I found that has the table attachment with it but honestly don't know for sure. All the others are simply "table top" types, just sitting there. I had never seen one before and as an American I grew up with sliced bread. Having lived in Belgium for the last 7 years now, I have been so spoiled with the fresh baked breads. Thanks for your care with preserving lovely memories.
Hey grace I answered your comment twice now but it's not getting through. Thank you so much for your informations. Such a lovely feedback in general. Really made my day
@@NTRprojects Please don't worry. That you bothered to like my comment was enough. I know I am only one of a huge amount of people who enjoy what you do. The beer tasting has me a bit intrigued though so I love the chuckle I get when you rate them. Thanks for such great content. 😄
Well that was just pretty freaking terrific! Things I loved? The attention to detail, the handle you made, that your sand blaster has some guts and doesn't just spit sporadically, the finished piece and the old smoke box working out so well as a painting cabinet. Things I didn't love? The icky feeling in my stomach when you had the blade on the machine and it was spinning while you held the sand paper on it and then you had a bloody knuckle... Yeah. That was pretty much all I didn't like. LOL Awesome job. ❤️
Hey Sadie. I know it was tight and all but it was still terrifying to work on the spinning blade. The knuckle I hurt however while clamping the multitool to the lathe 😅
Good job, man, good job.
What a great job! The work done on the handle is simply stunning. And the detail of the alignment of the screws (22:37) shows a great love of detail. Ah. The bread looks tasty.
Brilliant job and the blue colour was really nice. I like the attention to detail and in lining up the screws properly. A sign of a craftsman. I make my own German bread and cut it with a bandsaw. Is the only way.
What a beautiful tribute to your Granny. I know she's smiling at you for this. A beautiful restoration, gorgeous color, and it works perfectly. Nicely done, beautifully filmed, well told. Thanks for sharing this, Dr. B. (And I'm sure MM didn't mind you making a new one! 🤣) And tell your girlfriend how delicious that bread looked. Made my mouth water!
Best quality power tools of all the restoration channels: Fein (And you sandblaster also) - wish some of these brands would start sponsoring you guys for the great videos/entertainment you provide! Awesome video, brings back a lot of memories
I happened upon this channel and i am loving it. I love how you show the process and i end up learning so much. For example (i am just a layman), I never knew that you had to polish after nickel platting. I always assumed it came out polished like that from the bath. So thank you for the efforts. I am learning and getting entertained. Also your videos are soothing. Bringing the old back to life in all its glory. So thanks. I am loving your videos.
What a perfect bread🍞🥖. Ohhh I mean what a perfect video😂😂😂 Seriously now it's amazing. All this effort coming to a great result. I really admire your videos❤❤❤ Keep on👏👏👏
Outstanding save and restoration, Dr. Beer. All the nuances of the story and rebuild with stop motion, wood work & repair, lathe work, polishing and plating and one MM new one...brilliantly done and a joy to watch. Love the color scheme (other worldly blue), silver, black and brown are right off a color wheel!! Love the new handle too and wanted Smell-A-Taste-A-Vision for that bread. Thanks for sharing your passion and fine work!!! Hat Tip & Cheers, ~PJ
I love this! I wish I had one of these at home so when my dad an I do make bread we could have amazing fresh sliced bread. Oh well I will just have to be envious 😂
Oh wow, I think your Granny would be extremely proud of the life you put back into this piece, great restoration 👍 Also, that bread looked incredible 😍
Lovely work here, both on the restoration and the video production! I really enjoyed seeing how you serrated the blade using the lathe as a guide. Excellent work!💖
I saw you start stacking the plywood for the handle and thought "This is gonna be awesome!" Then it was left unstained and I thought "Well, it looks like plywood. Bummer." But the rest of the project was outstanding!!!
I think this is your best video, by far 👌👍🏻
So nice of you to be here everytime. Love your work and your attention to detail. So I really value your feedback. Best regards to the east my friend

Loved the part where the pieces "chose what they wanted" that stop motion animation would have taken a lot of time and effort!
Yes but it was fun editing it and seeing the parts move for themselves. So worth it 😁
That was adorable
My favorite part is how it switched on them in the end.
It was very well made. Awesome videos as usual
Great storytelling! 🥳
Yeah someone told me while having a beer to show more of my workshop 😉 I took his advice eventhough this guy is kind of a lunatic 😂
This is your best video since sliced bread.
I wish my grampa was still alive to share your videos with him. He he loved hand tools and restoring thins but he didn't speak english so your videos would had been ideal.
I'm glad you showed it in action. Cool wheel bread🥰
Good to see you dress the screws, not many people do.Thanks for the show.
That little animation was fun to watch! The color is excellent. I think your oma would be proud.
Hey Becky good you liked it as well. Always nice to hear from you
Diese Maschine hätte einen festen Platz in meiner Küche. Top! . Das Brot, eine Scheibe Schinken und das Bier, was willst du mehr, thats real life.
Yes 👍 I agree 🍺 🎉

That blue is BEAUTIFUL! I absoluely love it!
That colour blue is stunning!
I think so too!
Lathes and nickle plating are 2 of my favorite things, along with sandblasting and perfect paint. Awesome!
Beautiful restoration, Grandma would be proud.
echoing everyone else's love for the slicer but yoooooooo that *bread* though. that looks amazing
Oh, I remember them from the 1970s [Germany]. brings me back to my childhood. Well done, so lovely to watch.
Glad to hear that it woke up some memories. Thank you for watching and commenting dingo
Glad to see that family “heirlooms “ means something!! Great job!!!
Your restorations just get better and better, Doc! Thanks for this one. Lovely.

Great video - really neat old bread slicer that. I really like that you kept some of the original wood and the character of the piece.
Great to hear that you liked my approach to the restoration Fred
Better than new. We had the same type of bread slicer, with an arrangement to alter the width of the slices. Never realized how much work there was involved to make such a simple gadget. Vediograpy was excellent.
I love it when people pay attention to details that the factory workers didn't have time for.
A video from my favorite restoration channel on Wednesday night... my day is made. Thank you!
As you said, perfect restoration ,no more words from me !!!👍👍👍❤❤❤👌👌👌

Awesome addition of the brass!
Great restore! Best invention since before sliced bread. For a lead test, where's Superman when you need him?
Very nice restoration, sir! There was lots of work for that little item. Looking forward to seeing your next project. Be safe.

That bread looks really tasty! You have so many more cool restoration options!! I vote for the thing in the back at 0:06 with the black cord or hose.
I love the effect the plywood gives on the handle. Great job, you made something quite boring looking, absolutely beautiful.
