- I started querying over the weekend and WOW. I am so thrilled to be at this point in the process. There is definitely some anxiety and nerves that go along with this, but overall, I'm feeling proud of myself and excited to be in the query trenches.
This video is a little lengthy, but I had a lot I wanted to share in terms of the work I've done to get ready to query. I've added some timestamps below if you want to skip around.
I'll absolutely keep you all updated on how things are going with querying! But if you don't know, querying is a long process where there can be weeks or even months where nothing is really happening. So be on the lookout for Querying Chronicles #2, but know that it might not be uploaded for a while.

For the financial pages: PAGE PROTECTORS & BINDERS!! Get fun binders that are cool colors! Do a front page that explains what's inside. Then put it/them on a shelf & FORGET ABOUT IT!! But it will be there if/when you need it. And you add to it if they send you other stuff. Which they probably will.
Well, for now it's all stuffed into the filing cabinet, haha! I think most of the main stuff is straightened out at this point, so hopefully I won't be getting more phone books in the mail!!
Congratulations on sending those 5 queries!!! Now relax and enjoy working on your newest project
Thank you 💕 It's been fun working on something new (and less stressful, ha) this week!
YOU DID IT!! I am so freaking proud of you!!!!
Congratulations!! 🎉 I’ll admit that my experience with querying has been pretty disappointing so far (5 novels have died in the trenches) but it’s nice to watch this and remember all the excitement of the beginning! May the trenches treat you kindly ❤ 😊
I’m so excited for you!! This is huge 😁 you were cracking me up with all the journals from hs and college - so many feelings! 😂 you’re awesome!!
Thank you 🥳 I'm really excited to share this part of the writing process with you all!
And dude, those bins are freakin' HEAVY lol I really had a lot to say.
Thank you so much for sharing all of this, so excited for and happy for you!!
I hope it's helpful! Thank you so much 💕
So thrilled to finally see you query! You’ve worked so hard. Looking forward to the updates!
Thank you 🥰 I'm glad to be at this stage in the process, too! I can't wait to share more updates as I go.
Eeeek!! So exciting!! 🎉 Congrats on entering the query trenches!!
Thank you 🥰🥳 I’m really excited to finally be at this point!
I'm so excited for you! May your querying journey go well and your positivity stay on high! Also, I love a good spreadsheet, so that was much appreciated
Thank you 🥰 And yes, a good spreadsheet is my faaaavorite lol
I'm so excited for you! Good luck.

Thank youuuu!! 🥰

Thank you!! 🥰 I'm excited to share the journey with you all.
I felt every second of this, it's truly one of the most stress-inducing but also anticlimactic experiences ever - you got this!
Thank you 🥳 It definitely feels like a hurry up and wait situation ahaha
rooting for you!
Thank you 🥳🥰
Yay! You did the thing!! 🎉🎉
Woohoo!!! 🥳 I'm really excited to share this part of the process with you all.

I do love a good spreadsheet, haha!
Thank you 🥰 I'm excited to get to share this part of the process with you all!
Congratulations on taking this step! I totally get your nerves - I was giggling along with you. Fingers crossed xxx
Hahaha ahhh thank you 😊
Me: not for the usa, in my country query process is absolutely different
Me: *still watching the whole query video with the data explainations*
It was useful, tho. I decided to put my publishers list into a table and also kind sort it.
Good luck with your quering!
hahaha I find myself watching videos sometimes that have absolutely nothing to do with me...like, why?? But I'm glad some of it was still useful for you!
Thank you so much and I hope your querying is a positive experience, too!
Really enjoyed watching this! Looking forward to seeing all the updates! I'm working on my revisions and will hopefully be querying by summer.
Thank you! I hope your revisions go well and you can start querying this summer 🥳
you got this you go girl....
🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
You got this!
Thank you!!
This is my first time commenting, but I have been watching for a while. I wanted to send my encouragement and congratulations on taking the leap and querying! I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video, and you have encouraged me to work harder on my draft so I can query!
Ahhh thank you so much 🥰 I’m so glad to hear you’re working hard on that draft, too! I hope you can get it all fixed up and pretty for the query trenches soon 🎉
Good luck
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you 🥳
Congrats, you, querying author!!! Crossing fingers for you that you land someone who really gels with you
Thank you!!! I'm really looking forward to sharing this part of the process with you all.
Ahh I feel you SO MUCH on alll the feelings!! Yay to getting to the trenches! This was super interesting...I did the opposite, used Publishers Marketplace and not querytracker, which I found annoying to use. Actually one of my criteria for first round was "accepts email queries" bc the query manager website intimidated me. As soon as I feel more confident in my synposis (it's driving me bananas!!), I have a few more to query on there for round 1B haha
Oof, I can understand why your synopsis is driving you up the wall--they're the WORST to write 😒
I'd definitely encourage you to try QT again, if only for the fun data it gives you, haha! It's nice to be able to see the average response times, so you know when you're in for a long-ish wait or not.
Good luck with round 1B!!
@@MeredithPhillipsWrites haha yes and I feel like it's never *quite* right!!
The data about how long agents take to respond seems really helpful. Thank you!! :)
I like looking at the agent's twitter as well. Then when they post what they're into you know it's up to date and completely reliable.
Yes, I looked at Twitter several times for different agents. Especially right now at the beginning of the year, a bunch of people had updated MSWL type posts.
How exciting!! 🎉 As someone who doesn't know anything about your story's plotline, I find the title intriguing, especially considering the time in history that it takes place. I can't wait for your next update!
Ahhh thank you!! 🥰 The story has friends-to-ex-friends-to-lovers, a marriage of convenience, and yes, two weddings!
@@MeredithPhillipsWrites I can't wait to read your story one day after it's been published!!
@@jillbrierley8745 ahhh 😭thank you!!
You checked all their boxes and followed all their directions, so...light the fuse and stand back. Long journey starts with the first step. Good luck!
I definitely reread the directions _multiple times_ before clicking Submit, haha!
Like the presentation, funny girl, gal, woman, whatever.
Yay! Break a leg. :D
Thank you!! 🥰
In my experience, the bio text box content is just a repeat of the bio paragraph in your query, without the sentence in your query bio that connects the manuscript to your life (if you have that type of sentence). So my bio tends to be 2-3 sentences. Best of luck querying!
Thank you! I ended up expanding the bio from my query just a bit, so hopefully even if that’s not exactly what they’re looking for it won’t be enough to reject me 😅
At the bank I work for you need the articles of org/inc and by-laws to open a business account. If you trash them, shred them safely.
Well dang, better pull them out of the trash and shred it then, haha!
Completely random but we have the same mouse/wrist pad combo 😊
I appreciate this video very much. You offered quite a bit of helpful info. Thanks and I wish you much success on your querying journey. Can I say this w/o being too critical? Your voice is beautiful and easy on the ears...but the hard jazz music...not so much. Maybe softer 🎶..Okay anyway. Hit Submit. Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed 🥰
I'm definitely open to feedback on the videos, so thank you! Do you mean the music itself was too loud and I should lower the volume on it or that the music style wasn't your taste? I don't do the jazzy music in every video, but I do like it from time to time 😅
@MeredithPhillipsWrites ..I mean softer jazz like Bossanova jazz, for example. I just found you, and now I have to check out your other videos.
@@geebee1514 Gotcha!
