I try to remember that each pass over a chapter is just a round of revisions and I can always come back and do more if necessary. Helps take the pressure off. EVERYTHING can be fixed in later editing. 🤣
Even with the ‘my lord,’ in sassy robot voice 😂 , I love the text to speech function trick for revising. Being Scottish, I use Apple’s built in voiceover utility as you can change the default accent. It too regularly results in pronunciation silliness!
I've been trying to rewrite a chapter for the last month, and just last night I realized I hate how it turned out. It’s painful to sit in front of the computer and feel like I’m getting nowhere. In the previous chapter, there was a fight where my male MC was a jerk for a bit. It was necessary for his character, but maybe I should rethink how it played out. Last night, I decided to add some dialogue and a confession at the start of the chapter I’m working on. It’s going to be dramatic, but I think it fits the intensity of their previous fight. I want to show that they like each other and don’t want to lose each other without having them say it directly.
@@MeredithPhillipsWrites Yup! I’m in the midst of my second pass for developmental edits (I do three passes) and I was thinking that my editor would be like: start afresh write the whole book again, and yeah some of that is normal anxiety, but some parts I was really worried about he was like, this is pretty much great except you can make it stronger by adding x y and z. So yeah that outside feedback really does help! I also just got back the sensitivity reader edits for another project and got told by one of them that my research has gotten to the point where she can’t add much to it and trusts me to write her condition(s) without needing a read. I mean I’ll still do it because wanna be sure, but that outside feedback really does help you put it in perspective. And just realising this sounds like I’m tooting my own horn, I’m really not! 😂🤣
This brings back memories. Don't remember the last time I set foot in a grocery store. Or a garment store for that matter. 😂 Online shopping's a godsend for my introverted self.
We used that when we were sick, but otherwise I'm too picky about _exactly_ which produce I get haha! You are not missing much with clothes shopping. It still stinks.

So true! Future Meredith will definitely be able to fix it haha
@@MeredithPhillipsWrites Future Meredith is capable of things Current Meredith can't even dream of!

It was definitely a fun way to review the whole act! I got oddly used to the robot voice after a little while, but those "my lords" had me rolling 😂
I’m Scottish too and do exactly the same thing 😂. Got to love that Fiona voice

Thank you for sharing
The opera sounds an awesome change to make! Covent Garden was really dodgy in regency times wasn't it?! lol
hahaha they definitely had some ~other~ activities going on nearby!
I've done that a lot, oh this is great.... nope its not, or this is terrible and then CPs are like this is awesome! 😅
Just goes to show how important that outside feedback really is!
