Here's a fact. Gallery mungyo oil pastels work best on canvas. And sennelier most on smooth bright even surface wood panels. Already tested. Have both. Based on results
Lovely Yolanda! I would suggest always adding just a touch of the “background” color into small shadows of eyes, around nose, under chin/jawline, in hair, forehead, etc. As if she is sitting in the “air” around her! It unifies the portrait and contributes to 3-d effect. Nicely done! So bold of you to write “NOPE” on first attempt! Gives inspiration & hope for us all!
Thank you so much! ❤ I really appreciate it, I became very self conscious of my voice and my tone once I started recording it. I never noticed it before.
It was a great lesson for all when you rejected your first try, showing that you do not compromise your end result. It also seems that a good quality of great teachers is that they don’t shy away from exposing their little insecurities. It opens the dialogue with the students and potentially making the learning process in both directions. Very nice video, thank you!
Thank you so much! I think it’s also something that comes with time. Now I find more valuable what I’ve learned from making a piece that the final artwork itself.

Hi Yolanda, I consider myself to be a pretty good oil pastel artist but this just blew my mind,,,great job! I use pastelmat but havent tried it for oil pastels yet. I teach an art group and one of my students has and says it is great. I have currently used the Sennilier oil pastel pad.

I love this! It amazing what you can do with oil pastels 😮😊. For me I don’t like blending with my figures, it’s uncomfortable. I blend using colour shaper’s . They have a silicone tip. The tips come in different shapes and sizes. I love them. 😊 your transitions are beautiful.
Thank you! ❤️ I’ve only tried with a pretty small color shaper but it was removing paint instead of placing it, maybe I should try with a large one 🤔 I find fingers the most convenient but they get really messy
@@YolandaBlazquezjust curious, do you have to clean your fingers off every time you blend an area or do you reserve a different finger for darker areas and lighter areas so you aren’t putting dark/light colors where they don’t belong?

There’s a reason they do it. A lot of these artists make a living, not by selling their work, but by teaching it through Patreon or other self-guided platforms. If they made real time content, they’re in essence giving away their techniques free. Can’t fault them for trying to make a living.
Thank you for this video! I usually use soft pastels and pastel pencils but you have inspired me to try oil pastels, I have the same brand. I also found really rough paper is hard to blend and get details for all pastels period
Thank you Melissa! ❤️ I hope you give them a try, they are really nice and not that different. I only miss having something like pastel pencils to use with them. I’m also not looking forward to trying that textured paper again, good to know it behaves the same with soft pastels.
Me encantan los tonos piel que conseguiste! Felicitaciones! Y si además quieres incluir algunos tips y trucos, mucho mejor! Saludos.

You are so welcome! Thank you ❤️
So natural and beautiful
Thank you so much 😊
Thank you for this video!
Your work is amazing thanks fir sharing 😍 so excited to try it out
You’re welcome! 🥰 Thank you for your feedback, I hope it helps!
Masterpiece..😍
Thank you so much ❤️
Me encantan los tonos piel que conseguiste! Felicitaciones!
I love it! Amazing 🥰✨😍
I'm glad you like it🥰
I just want to know how in the world did you get in the small crevices like the inside of the eye with that big thick clunky pastel crayon? I need sharp precision for that!
I try to shape the stick to give it a point rolling it on a paper towel or something, that way it becomes more precise and less blunt
Your work is beautiful ❤️
Can I ask what camera and tools do you use to film your videos? They look so dreamy 😊
Thanks a lot! ❤️ my equipment is pretty modest, I use natural lighting whenever possible but help myself with an ikea desk lamp when it’s dark, my camera is a Canon EOS 200D and the lenses is the basic 18-55 that comes with most models
You are simply marvelous ❤️....it is so difficult with oil pastels.
Thank you so much! ❤️ they are a bit tricky but with some practice they’re not that different from other paints
@@YolandaBlazquez Thanks for the reply. And ya not to forget you are magical & keep it going ❤️
This is so satifying!
I’m glad that you liked it ☺️
Too fine and detailed 😮😮
Thanks a lot! 🙂
The first try is also beautiful❤❤....
Thank you 🥰 I didn’t want to continue it because of the paper
Its beautiful❤❤❤
Thank you so much ❤️
