Simply magical, i normally use Primacolor pencils but I have just ordered some good quality oil pastels, I am so inspired by what you do. You lift my day and I aspire to find the flow you show when creating your pieces 🥰
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy them 🥰 thank you so much for the support. An edited painting process seems easy and always enjoyable but I struggle like everyone else 😊 I just love doing it regardless
Thank you! They never dry but they cure a bit. I’ve never varnished them but sometimes I apply a fixative. I have a video about this if you want to take a look 🙂
Thank you ❤️ I sharpen Neopastel with a knife when I first get them because they come blunt but then I just try to keep the point on them. During this painting I didn’t sharpen any with it
Hey! Do you heat the pastels before drawing or is that how it’s normally? Idk why but my pastels never being that smooth (maybe because it’s cheaper ones).
I love the color palette here! I think you were being your own greatest critic here - it is lovely. How do you feel about your Holbein oil pastels now? I own some of their watercolors and gouache paints, and they are great!
Oh my god! Just discovered your channel today and have watched almost 6-7 videos back to back! You are amazing! I wanted to try oil pastels painting for a long time but am confused about which ones to buy. Sennelier is quite on the expensive side and is definitely out of my budget right now. I saw you also use gallary soft oil pastels as well. Can you suggest shade codes of gallery pastels for portrait drawings? It would really help me decide what to buy. Thanks in advance 😊
I’m so glad that you find my videos useful! What I did and what I recommend is to buy the set you can afford of Mungyo Gallery first (I got the 48 because the 72 wasn’t available where I live) and the add a couple from the Sennelier range to complement. They work beautifully together and I particularly like the color selection of their portrait set so you can check which ones it includes and get the ones that suit the portraits that you want to make. And their white, it is the best.
If your budget allows it, try buying a few good daylight lamps. And also a flame coloured lamp. It sounds like you might suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (sad syndrome), and these lamps can help a lot. As per usual, your work is very lovely. I also appreciate your calm voice and cute accent, as the beautiful music. Your videos are a joy to watch. Hope you feel better.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and for caring ♥️ The weather sometimes wears me down, specially when autumn gets moody but I get use to it and whenever I see the sun showing up I go outside and feel much better. I have some daylight lamps and they really make a big difference! I got them for painting and I’m very happy with them.
I can relate, it is getting dark so early in the day here. It feels like I am sad about autumn being gone so quickly. So many things happening all at once. Your portraiture work is so stunning, do you ever do landscapes?
I feel that, I hope we’ll have some sunny winter days at least to enjoy. Thank you ❤️ I don’t really do landscapes, I’ve always been interested in portraits and people but I may one day
Pues justo ahora mientras contemplo tu pintura también llueve creando un clima de sosiego, nostalgia y meditación hasta llegar a la magia, porque sumergirse en tu obra es eso, magia. Muchas gracias.
You are a genius sooo beautiful s❤ You do not know the name of the colors bc you are in your right brain with intuition flowing but so beautifully done 🎉🎉
Thank you! ❤️ I don’t see the point in memorizing the names of the sticks since for every occasion I need a different one and there’s no formula or combination that I can use in all cases ☺️☺️
Watching you create & listening to you is absolutely breathtaking and so incredibly relaxing. I feel almost hypnotised watching you, a sense of peace washes over me. Thank you so incredibly much. You mentioned about people requesting you name / and suggesting portrait colours to purchase- yes that would be unbelievably helpful but as you said, I can see how difficult it would be💙 I hope though one day you are able to suggest a few colours if you ok can. I saw the senelier portrait set? Do you have any thoughts on it? I felt unsure how appropriate it would be- often other or different colours are needed ( such as blues and purples) to make skin look alive ( well that is the case in coloured pencil and watercolour…) . May I also also, any idea how many approximate colours you use for a portrait? Or is it still too difficult? Completely understand if it’s too hard Thank you so incredibly much again and so sorry- I hope my long comment makes sense
I’m so thankful for your comments, thank you! Sometimes it’s difficult to put yourself out there but reading things like this help very much 😊 I will put the skin tone with recommendations on the top of my video-to-do list! I definitely use muted purples for my portraits and the ones Sennelier have are perfect and there’s at least one in that set. My favorite is Mummy and I use it in every single portrait (or almost haha) and I would add an orange too. I don’t think neither Sennelier nor Caran d’Ache have a very pale blue (or very pale colors) that I would like to use for painting skin so I may try to make my own. About how many colors I use per portrait I’m not sure, not too many I would say but also depends a lot if there’s a background that needs more variation or not. About 13-15 or so plus extras for background and/or hair if needed.

Beautiful. How do you get such fine lines, such as strands of hair? Do you sharpen the pastels?

I have faber castell oil pastels i think it's as smoothy as this 😍 do you have any idea on it
I have no idea, I never tried them 🙂
Thanks anyway 😘
After tracing the photo to paper when we add colour it will show white traced outline but yours no white outline visible
Maybe there’s too much of the graphite left? My drawing is very light, barely there
How long did it take you to make this portrait?
I painted it in a couple of days
Just beautiful. Could you tell me the paper you are using.
Thank you 😊 it’s Pastelmat

It’s probably the brand or the type of oil pastels, I don’t do anything to them
