Funny, I am allergic to appreciation. The only way I can afford the 1997 Acura CL 3.0 Premium that I have now is depreciation from a $52k car (adjusted with inflation) to a $1500 (as purchased 4 years ago) car. Thanks to depreciation, my favorite Lexus and Acuras are all within reach.
I have a 1995 acura legend LS 6 speed coupe in midnight purple with black leather… a 1 of 1. I turboed and built the motor. Now it’s worth 1.2 million. Crazy
My guess it that there are more money tied up in Ferraris that there are of all the other million dollar cars combined. Mercedes with the 300sl family alone may be surprisingly high, they made a boatload of those considering the era, plus there a bunch of hits here and there during the decades. These are the two expectations I have for your next video!
Like most of us viewers might say, "One day..." Thank you Ed and team for such an amazing video. Now to business. Could you please change the intro, music, and themes a little? At least for me it started sounding outdated. thank you!
Meanwhile corvette owners: my corvette is best corvette because it was 1 of 1 blue on beige automatic built on a Tuesday by man named Bob, asking 1 million, i know what i got
Just going by inflation for the last 40 years $1,000,000 should be a little over $3,089,000 today. Part of what is fueling this nonsense is cheap money. 40 years ago you were paying 15% interest if you had good credit. Even right now 15% is for people with a 600 FICO and if they can't come up with a meaningful down payment they probably aren't getting approved at all. With excellent credit you can still score less than 5%. My CU is doing as low as 4.54% right now. When money is cheap it fuels this crap. When we also have record inflation to go along with it...we get stupid like $50,000,000 cars.
@@j.scottcaudill7543 A $30,000 car in 1980 only accounting for inflation would cost $112,000 today. That's how much value our dollar has lost. And it gets worse every day.
The truth of the matter is there are very very few hobbies can bring financial benefits beyond personal enjoyment aside. Certain car collection are those rare exceptions.
This is honestly kinda fascinating to me. Like, you are interested in the car BECAUSE it's worth that much? Like, you couldn't care less about what the car is, but because it's worth that much, it's of interest? I don't understand that at all.... but.... it does make a certain level of sense for people who are attracted to famous people and that sort of thing.
I think that, for me, I'd lose some amount of interest in the car if it was a high dollar value.... that's just more risk in a depreciating asset. I guess it's a good thing that I tend to fall in love with cheap 80s cars. :D
Inflation has to be taken into account when this list is thought of. A million dollars doesn’t go as far as it did in the 80’s. There’s also limited number cars that can start at 1 million it kinda skews the numbers. I think a window or a cut off should exist. Say 20 year old cars and older should be considered. Bugatti isn’t making a $500k car, so every car they make is added to the list? Interesting list but in these days, when a Toyota minivan can top 60k, it might need to be cars that reach $2 million 😂
I'm gonna imagine more and more Japanese low production editions of popular cars are gonna hit 1mil. The 22B, N1 GTRs, that kinda thing. The 22B is already over what, $330k?
The problem with those cars, is that maybe a perfect condition, low mileage can reach that, but a vast majority of those cars have been driven to the ground or modified a lot, and those cars will never be a million dollar
Maybe an investment in a big money car isn't as prosperous as the stock market. But on the flip side at least you'll never lose it all on a vehicle investment. Plus you'll get the joys of owning, collecting and driving these beautiful cars!
Just make sure you buy really good guaranteed value insurance lol. No insurance company is just going to want to willynilly pay out on a 1+ million dollar car. So that would be a way to lose all of it on a vehicle investment lol.
No original Shelby Cobras or Daytonas on any of the lists? Odd. (Edit) Had to scroll to the bottom of the spreadsheet to find the Cobra. Still, most of the cars are from Europe.
@MILLIONAIRE S...if I can drive your car better than you can I have it??? Worked at a country club everyone had expensive and rare cars, but they can drive for shit...
wanna guarantee i click a video? put F40 in the thumb. its my dream car, been my dream car since 1990. its the only million dollar (think we are in 2.5+ range now) car on my 'powerball list'. is there a 40k mile Bolian spec F40 out there? i would still wanna drive the shit out of it. lol.
Doing my best to make sure my 2 valve 308 never goes up in value by modifying and driving it constantly. I guarantee I get more enjoyment out of my ride than these billionaires who use cars as money laundering investments. Makes me sad for the artists that created these cars. These money themed vidoes are far less interesting than Rabbit telling a story

Some ointment will help with those burning ears 👂 👀
I think the 1998 Nissan Maxima is the next big million dollar car. Change my mind.
Lol I agree
Prove it Tavarish, coat one in 24k gold and get Bentley interior for it.
Where the p1 at
A 1997 Toyota Century should be a million dollar car, then I'd have 2 million dollars.
99.5 SE-L for sure

Not all money are bloody, just like not all viewers are idiots either.
Dream cars were meant to be driven. Happy black Friday with another Ed video!
Before you watch the video, comment how many you think there are
5000
More than the remaining amount of 1985 Toyota Camrys.
I’m allergic to car purchases bases on appreciation predictions
6,000 million dollar cars...
Loving the frequent appearances Ed, thank you.

156 views in less than 4 minutes. Good job Ed
Is there any way that list can be shared to the public? I'm VERY curious to read it!
Sure. Added to description.

I think it has to do with the influx of money and the fact that it seems like the dollar bill has devalued a little bit
Devalued "a little"? 😂
3000% inflation since the Fed was formed in 1913, just saying.

The craziest thing i heard in this video is that Porsche 911 4.0 rs cars are going for a million.😂
Why they really are
Crazy to think how many cars that are worth a mill that got totaled which boost value as well
me its a million dollar house
@8:45 Manny Koshbin comes to mind

I'd love to see a story on a Shelby cobra with a factory automatic
It's only worth what someone is willing to pay, The other thing to look at how often do those cars move that are worth that much.
Sulton of Brunei collection prob worth trillions if he didnt neglect maintenance
Can’t believe you don’t include the jdm market or race cars 🏎️
@6:50 is that Strads Aventador? Looks similar
Gonna say between 5,000 and 10,000.
Looking forward to my 2007 Volkswagen Passat to enter the million dollar club. It's manual...so chances are strong I think :).

morning
I do not find million dollar cars all that interesting. They are best kept off the road, as to their value something to be preserved, not enjoyed.
Why shouldn't the owners enjoy the cars they paid for on the road? They paid for the driving experience as well as the looks.
"The only way I can afford the cars I have is that they don't lose value" (depreciate rapidly).
I now understand your investment strategy.
