  • Just got this package in the mail from a fan in Australia, who said he was looking for a new hobby & got into building guitars after seeing my videos. This guitar is a fun one! .. and make sure you watch this video to the end to hear Billy tell his story. It's always awesome to hear that my videos inspired someone to start building or playing guitar and that my passion for guitar & music can help someone else find that same enjoyment in life! Rock on!

    Hi everyone it’s a Billy the maker of the jerrycan just to let use know the neck is made of one-piece walnut wood with no cuts or joins the jerrycan is a 5 litre pressed steel can and then nick pick up is a single coil humbucker handmade locally in Perth with a mike pick up under the bridge and a three-way switch as Justin discovered is correct and a solid stainless steel 3mm thick hinge for its spine to stop movement in the back door The neck mount is welded in because when I bolted it in it vibrated and rattled a lot I make all the hardware bits myself except for the electronic components and it takes me 6 to 8 months to make one because my job interferes with my hobby and so does life sorry taking so long to put this up just got back from work And I would like to thanks everybody for your responses most uplifting and inspiring comments from your appreciation Billy

    I'm an Aussie too - what a great guitar. The Jerry Can was a steel German designed WWII fuel can. They were so solid that us Aussies adopted them because of their ruggedness in the bush. We used to refer to the Germans as "Jerry's" during WWII & that's how it got the name jerry can. That is a one in a billion guitar - it couldn't have gone to a more deserving home. Congratulations Justin & well done Billy!!

    Never saw your channel before. Like your playing. Always liked blues music. Taught myself harmonica a couple decades ago. Used to play at bars and with a buddy named Joey Sexton. I was supposed to play on one of his albums but I had just lost my Dad and didn't have the drive to go to the studio. Cancer got Joey 2 years ago and I haven played much. So many skills felt like they were dying off. So I got into Ham Radio. Just one of those things I always wanted to do. I needed a desk, for my gear. So I watched many youtube videos and got my woodworking skills back. Made all the furniture in my house (including that desk). This guy in Australia is right, and he's an inspiration , an example of what you can do with the total knowledge of the human race at your fingertips and the willingness to learn something. It doesn't matter what drives you, or why... Learn something, create something, share it with someone. Glad I found your channel and a reminder why we create.

    God bless you Billy !!!
    You are a true kindred soul and kind of like me. For some reason, I love guitars but hardly can play at all.
    Just as you, since a young age, was always into the hot rods and especially Harley Davidsons, which I rode for over 40 years.
    But, as I have gotten older, cannot ride comfortably any more due to a terrible accident in 2013. So, I love fiddling around in the garage, just as you on different projects.
    If you were my neighbor, we would definitely be "mates" and working on some interesting projects.
    I would absolutely love to find a way to acquire one of those awesome guitars, but probably a total impossibility.
    Anyway, keep up the great work and especially keep the gears turning in that creative mind of yours.
    You have been blessed with a special gift from above !!

I would also echo this fellows remarks when he states how helpful you've been with your videos .{ I still refer to the one you did in Tazmania , on intonation. } You also contributed greatly with a copy of your scales and chords for 3 and 4 string CBG's for a donation I made to a silent auction to raise money for a child's hospice here locally in British Columbia. Thanks so much for that. My/our contribution raised shy of $1000. Cdn dollars for the hospice. I believe the entire auction raised upwards of 1 million dollars.

    That was super cool Justin. It nice to know when you are appreciated. Billy is a super nice guy and it appears a excellent craftsman. That is one fine guitar Billy made. He could definitely start a business if he wanted. It sounded great too ! Keep up the great videos and Billy keep doing what you are doing !

    While you make the weirdest things sound cool.... I love the ringy/ resonator twang and bang of this thing...like those early blues recordings. Muddy, played through the speakers of an old Ford... the best. Thanks for the groove Sir.

    I found this by chance, watched the whole lot, and I gotta say Billy your a classic dude, love your work, I live in Vic my bro lives in WA, your work is great but the story is greater, think its about time I made some guitars my self seeing what you have done has inspired my to go for it, yes intonation and action is the key to a great instrument also good timber or steel in your case, thanks for the story mate, rock on, and yes some days it better in the shed than in the house right ; }
    Cheers dude........
